So we woke up at 3:30AM, took the 40mins drive to the Maroon Bells. The posted sign on the road there warned us that reservation is required, of course we did not know that (duh). Managed to get on the World Wide Web (lolz) to realize that booking is completely full for the next several weeks. Oh well, we pushed on since no one was at the gate (of course, it only slightly passed 4AM 😇). We really do want to follow the rule if we would have known sooner.

None of us was there before and we could not figure out how to get to the lake in pitch black 25F degree moonless night. Luckily another car pulled up and the gentlemen agreed to lead us there. He huddled us up, whispering "I've been to this place for 45 years, it's a sacred place, please do not speak loudly as it can disturb the active wildlife at this hour and please only shine the flashlight down toward the dirt road" - Yes sir..........we moved on.

Many clicks later, the sun was finally up, we finished what we set out for. Walked back to the car, and there, the park ranger was waiting........$130 fine later 🍁🍂. it is well worthed 😍

Starry, starry night

Paint your palette blue and gray

Look out on a summer's day

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul

Taken at Eades Meadow, a local reserve managed by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. The beautiful spring flowers there created the starry illusion in this in-camera double exposure.

New moon in the vineyard. A beautiful night.

The actual name of this iris is starry night but I really loved it covered in raindrops. I thought the raindrops sparkled like stars.

I'd like to be the sort of friend

that you have been to me;

I'd like to be the help that you've been

always glad to be;

I'd like to mean as much to you

each minute of the day

As you have meant, old friend of mine,

to me along the way.

I'd like to do the big things

and the splendid things for you,

To brush the gray out of your skies

and leave them only blue;

I'd like to say the kindly things

that I so oft have heard,

And feel that I could rouse your soul

the way that mine you've stirred.

I'd like to give back the joy

that you have given me,

Yet that were wishing you a need

I hope will never be;

I'd like to make you feel

as rich as I, who travel on

Undaunted in the darkest hours

with you to lean upon.

I'm wishing at this Christmas time

that I could but repay

A portion of the gladness

that you've strewn along the way;

And could I have one wish this year,

this only would it be:

I'd like to be the sort of friend

that you have been to me.

Long Exposure + Focus + De-Focus + Pull Back with a Zoom Lens looking at downtown LA from the Griffith Observatory...

Spotted this starry plant during a bijoux photowalk in our local park. Being a horticultural ignoramus I’ve no idea what it is.

Starry, starry lake

On your water , the sun does make

Little stars, that do shine

On sweet natures, flowing wine

Making a path, so beautiful

In my eyes,so wonderful

Leading me, to a better day

Where my heart will always stay

Across the water, sweet love is made

Beyond the starry, starry path, thats laid

I love spending summer nights watching the stars. Almost time for this!

The Starry Night is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh, painted in June 1889. It depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village. It has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941, acquired through the Lillie P. Bliss Bequest. Widely regarded as Van Gogh's magnum opus, The Starry Night is one of the most recognizable paintings in Western art.

Well, I packed up my photo gear (and warmest sleeping gear) and went to shoot the Geminid meteor shower. I knew the full moon would be a challenge, but thought I'd get something. Nope! Actually two very faint meteors. So I tried to salvage something. This is a composite of several hundred star images into one trails image. Then I pasted a foreground into the scene. Yes, it's a composite, but at least it's from one location. Imperfect, but I suffered a lot in the cold before I gave up (the wind blew cold air into every minuscule gap in my sleeping set up.
