Given the title of the picture, you'd probably expect me to put a link to that Don McLean song here, right? But I freakin' hate being predictable, so here's REM's Gardening at Night instead. :-)
This shot has been in my photography bucket list for a long time and because of unreliable weather forecasts I've kept putting it off because of the fear of failure.
Last night I took the bold decision to drive to Beer beach in East Devon in spite of very varying weather forecasts and after some patience was rewarded with a spell of mostly clear sky.
This is a stack of 11x 8s exposures stacked in sequator and edited in lightroom.
Fear of failure conquered!
I took this shot when the moon was very low and large. I manipulated the color of the sky to a darker blue but left everything else pretty much unchanged. I really like the outcome.
What do you think? Hope you have a great "Monday"..

Number Nine,
Here's another picture from my rainy-night photography session in Aarau. The colors of the houses look completely different at night. The reflections and the glint on the streets completely change the view... But it would probably be better to have a rain cover for the camera.

Ultima foto del mia prima sessione fotografica dedicata alla Via Lattea, attendo con impazienza il prossimo cielo senza Luna per riprovare, questa volta si tratta di uno scatto unico, non di sovrapposizione di più scatti.

Before it will be raining tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, I went here to take some starlight photos tonight, because it has less light pollutions around. Couple photographers already arrived, they were working at the other side of the lighthouse for shooting sunset.
I really enjoyed this starlight mood alone, and the lighthouse was lighting up the direction for the passing ships and my thoughts as always.
Polar light seen from the Vatnajökull Fosshotel. The green auroras are the ones we see most often. They occur when charged particles collide with oxygen molecules at altitudes of between 100 and 300 km.
Listening to Don McLean this afternoon…
"Vincent" was written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh. It is also known by its opening line, "Starry Starry Night", a reference to Van Gogh's 1889 painting The Starry Night.
The song also describes other paintings by the artist. McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of van Gogh.
I'll Leave you with another song by McLean…
Bye, bye Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry... and them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye, Singin' this'll be the day that I die…

This winter I found out that I'm not only a sucker for succulents - I'm a moss and lichen enthusiast, too. They come in so many different shapes and colors. And they grow almost everywhere.
I took this picture on an old rusty tractor trailer. Unfortunately, I can't identify the different species, yet. And I hope you enjoy these little macro landscapes for I have more of them left to post...
I think I'm starting to become addicted to this monotone processing!
This time a darker blend of sepia with a more prominent brown colouring thrown in.
Many thanks to Thomas Shellberg for the original photo. A good use of wide aperture we can see that the edges of the land area are slightly blurred, which makes the eye focus more on the night sky. However on the flip side for my tastes I'd probably prefer the foreground to be sharper. Either way a nice composition.
