Corregidor island, Cavite.During World War II, Corregidor played an important role during the invasion and liberation of the Philippines from Japanese forces. Heavily bombarded in the latter part of the war, the ruins left on the island serve as a military memorial to American, Filipino and Japanese soldiers who served or lost their lives on the island.

She has been completely deboxed, and is posed standing, supported by the custom display stand. She is much more stable this way than when free standing. Also she can stand up completely straight, rather than having to stoop to keep her balance. I decided against inserting the prongs of the doll stand inside her dress, as I didn't want to damage the delicate dress, or have the prongs showing under the dress. I would have prefered the stand to be designed like the 17'' LE dolls, where a clamp like end is inserted between the dolls legs to support her.
The seals to the box have been broken, and the top lid removed. The doll encased in styrofoam lined with satin. Underneath her is the doll stand, and laid on top is the Certificate of Authencity in a plastic envelope. My doll was numbered 297 of 500.

First Look
She is unlike any other LE doll released by the Disney Store. She is larger at 19'' (more precisely 18.5''), rather than the usual 17''. She is also made of resin, rather than plastic (vinyl). Because she is resin, she has less articulation than the other dolls of the series, having only neck, shoulder and hip joints. The shoulder and hip joints are ball joints, but are spring loaded, which is also unique for a Disney LE doll. She comes in a very large custom box measuring 22'' x 15'' x 8'', and weighing 9 lbs 6 oz. The shipping weight was 13 lbs 6 oz. Her only accessory is a custom display stand with a wooden base. She is a very accurate replica of the China Doll character from the upcoming Disney movie Oz The Great and Powerful. Although most of the main characters in the movie are live action characters, the China Girl is CGI. The surface of the doll is glazed, so she looks just as though she were really made of porcelain. There is also simulated crazing (fine cracks in the surface), and larger deeper cracks showing where the doll was broken before being fixed by Oscar Diggs (the Wizard of Oz). Her outfit consists of a silver lacey dress with a light blue satin layer underneath. Around her waist is a blue and silver striped satin sash with a bow in the back. She also has white satin bloomers with blue trim. She is a very heavy doll, weighing in a 3 lbs 10 oz, or 4 lbs 8 oz with the display stand. She can free stand, but as she is top heavy and has narrow feet, she isn't that stable. So the display stand is definitely recommended for displaying her safely.

Stand Ascensores Enor.
No mes de Maio deseñamos o stand de Ascensores Enor para Navalia, a feira internacional da industria naval que cada dous anos ten lugar en Vigo.
A idea para ista edición era mostrar dúas portas para barcos de tecnoloxía avanzada desenroladas polo departamento de I+D de Ascensores Enor. Unha delas era unha porta corredeira de 6 metros de longo e 2 metros de altura de accionamento mecánico, e a segunda, unha porta estanca ao paso de auga e resistente ao lume, que se quería mostrar despois de ensaiar e comprobar o seu correcto funcionamento nun forno a 1000ºC de temperatura.
Negando o plantexamento habitual no deseño de stands, no que os obxectos se mostran desnaturalizados ou como representación figurada de obxectos reais, pensamos nun stand no que o propio continente fose o contido a expoñer.
Partindo desa idea, deseñamos un stand no que as portas fosen elementos 'reais' que para visitalo fose necesario atravesar o seu umbral. Con isa mesma intención, a porta corredeira instalouse e montouse en taller para que fose totalmente funcional e se puidese abrir e pechar durante a feira. (video 2)
O resto do deseño consistiu en definir a estructura que soportase o peso das portas (3000 Kg) e configurar todos os pechamentos (teitos, paredes e chan) coas mesmas chapas de aceiro galvanizado coas que se constrúen habitualmente os ascensores en fábrica.
A iluminación resolveuse con lámpadas certificadas para o seu uso en barcos.
Ao rematar a feira, o stand instalarase nas instalacións de Ascensores Enor e destinarase á mesma función.

The late afternoon sun was shining through the honey and jelly and looked nice. By the time I got the camera it was starting to cloud up so I only got one shot before it got kind of dull looking.
We have a life-sized banana stand for TV Party, which in this case we were using while the theme was Arrested Development
It's harvest time in the Western Reserve, north eastern Ohio. Just love these quaint roadside produce stands that seem to pop up this time of year. This one immediately caught my eye. I could not have imagined a more quintessential rural American scene.
Came up with an idea to have a custom plexiglass cake box made and filled with fabric, ribbon and flowers. Turned out beautiful....

Note the 18th-century stand (with which the painter has taken some liberties) and the brick-tiled floor which exist to this day.
This print is in Colchester Meeting archives. The following notes appear on the back and were provided by Friends House Library:
"J. Walter West RWS. Born 1860 at Hull. Died 1933 at Northwood, Mddx and funeral at Jordans (Quaker) Meeting House.
From a family of modest means, he left his Quaker school, Boothams, in his mid-teens to work in the engineering works of Priestman Brothers, Hull. Priestmans were a Quaker family and it is likely that Walter West was encouraged by his employers' family to pursue his ambition to paint because that family included an established artist, Bertram Priestman.
In 1884, aged 24, having saved his money, he set off for London and was quickly accepted by the Royal Academy Schools. Frugal Quaker habits must have helped his early years but by 1904 he was elected to the Royal Society of Watercolour Painters and was popular and succesful. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and by 1913 had a picture in the Tate.
He married a Quaker, Ada Wise, in 1891 and they had four daughters, at least one of whom, Cicely became a succesful artist.
Walter West is best known for his Quaker subjects, of which great numbers of reproductions were made and there sales both here and in America were not restricted to Friends. He drew many early Underground posters which were sufficiently admired to justify a Burlington House exhibition in 1916. More recently in 1983 the Bookplate Society published an article about his bookplates - now a rare artform. He signed himself 'J. Walter West' with a stylised compass incorportatiing the letters of his last name. "[see bottom right-hand corner of the picture]

Something relatively quick and simple tonight. The Good Smile Company 1/8 scale Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society Motoko Kusunagi PVC statue.
Wow that's a mouthful.
Solid State Society is a feature length movie that is set in the Stand Alone Complex series. I've never seen it, but I have noticed a general consistency of the way Motoko looks in all of my Stand Alone Complex figures, and it pretty much comes to some variation of her light grey catsuit.
Now, I, as usual, bought this off a seller from a classified ad, in this case for $50. What I'm trying to figure out is just how rare this piece is because the aftermarket prices, both on eBay and Japanese sites, have this priced at something absolutely insane, I don't know if it was because the statue of was underproduced, or maybe this was the only version of her from this particular series.
Motoko is depicted in a relatively static pose - she's standing with visor in one hand and the other hand on her outward hip, with a half open trenchcoat slightly billowing in the wind and an attentive gaze. This was released in 2007 and 2009, so it was one of the statues that was around when I was generally more active in the PVC world. and I have to say that The Major looks fantastic.
There are some subtle fabric folds on her suit and the trench coat. Casting came out sharply. There's not a dull edge or non eye pleasing detail in sight. Hair and face are adequately sculpted, and her curves are very crisp, and personally I feel its a shame half of her is covered up by her coat. Subtle detaling such as the lines on her suit aren't too bad, though not quite as crisp as the other stuff on the body. There's no webbing between the fingers, and each digit is well defined. The visor also is nice and crisp, with no poor edges observed. There's also some body definition that you'll appreciate more with the lighting coming in from JUST the right angle.
Paint work is as solid as anything you'd get these days. Smooth crisp applications and excellent masking work, along with well printed and applied decals. Of course, these are the guys who make Figma and I've generally been pretty happy with their work.
Finally Build Quality is, once again, what I'd expect from Good Smile Company. No glue residue or poor assembled parts that make you question your sanity. This is an older statue, however, and was made before industry wide standards to stop using soft plastics on sections of the body that are prone to bending. In this case, I found that her ankles had bent slightly, causing her to lean forward. Fortunately, a bit of hot water and some elbow grease allowed the situation to be rectified.
In conclusion, a very nicely painted statue of Motoko that shows off her beautiful character design without being overtly sexual, which is usually the sweet spot for me because it means I don't have to hide it from display. The only real problem is the leaning which was an industry wide thing.
So if you're a Ghost in the Shell fan and can find this at a price that doesn't give you acid reflux, just go for it.

Blythe size stand made of painted acrylic resin.
It shows a little bit of a cobbled street including a storm drain and it's inspired by cities like Rome or Lisbon.
Because of the nature of the material used, it has a nice strong and compact presence and a stone-like solidity.
The pole is removable and it's crossed by a tin wire that can be bent to grab your doll.
