I cant't believe this tragic happened after I had taken this photos few days ago last week.

Here is a typical news stand that can be found in downtown Edmonton. I love the colorful array of all the different posters and newspaper stands off set by the bright white of the snow.

Having a seat at the Hamburger Stand. They don't build them like this any more. The old style McDonald's Hamburger Stand where I grew up was demolished around 1971 and replaced with a McDonald's "restaurant". Before that if you went downtown, at the main corner, there was the red, white and yellow McDonald's on one side and an old Fashioned Jack in the Box ( with the giant clown head coming out of a box) on the other side. Downtown looked like an amusement park. McDonald's wasn't about to have any down time while the new restaurant was being built so they built it next to the hamburger stand. When it was finished they closed the hamburger stand and opened the restaurant. I was only six at the time but I know I took a photo of the two McDonald's ( old and new ) next to each other. I remember cleary having a difficult time framing the photo because of all the utility poles in front of the building. A comment was made that I was a natural photographer as I was walking up and down the road looking for the perfect shot. If I ever find the photo I will post it.
Flickr screwed with my colors on this one, but it's still okay. I figured I should get a picture of the Pig Stand before they tear it down. I mean, come on, Shirley MacLaine was there. 10 points to the first person to identify what's WRONG with this picture (hint: do a search for "pig stand" and try to spot the difference between my photo and everyone else's).

The main entrance to the school for the pupils. This hasn't changed a single bit since I last stepped foot through it in April 1993.
I used to park and lock up my bike on these very stands.
