Just exploring some places around the neighborhood...this veranda is located just opposite our gate (a meter and half distance, and the morning sun striking all over that big house.

Week 40/52 - Weekly Photography Challenge - Technology
Technology is an amazing thing, this is my interpretation for week 40. The camera is able to fire the flashes remotely, no need for wires from camera to flashes.

Cathedral Quarry (Cathedral Cave) : Little Langdale.
Cathedral Quarry is a small network of inter-linked quarries above Little Langdale. The system is best known for its main chamber, which still stands forty feet in height, and is lit by two windows off the main quarry. They are frequently referred to as Cathedral “Cave”.
For this first tunnel you will probably not need lighting. At the end of the tunnel you will enter a forty foot high chamber that is known as “The Cathedral”.
The larger of the two openings opens onto the second level of a pit quarry. The smaller opens out into a narrow, cutting like quarry, which eventually leads back to the entrance where you started.
There are various tunnels to explore, which will require lighting, as one is about 400 feet long.
The crag is owned and managed by the National Trust which has gone to considerable lengths to keep the quarry open for climbers in recent years, and all group leaders must attend a safety briefing session.
Fresh corn from a roadside stand is one of the greatest things about living in Skagit County. I sauteed a sweet onion hard in a little olive oil, added salt and pepper, the kernels from a single ear and the green tomato (it had fallen off my plant early) and cooked it all while the chicken grilled. Delicious. Total cost: $0.25 for the corn, about the same for a big sweet onion and around $0.50 for the chicken (part of a big package).

Flickr screwed with my colors on this one, but it's still okay. I figured I should get a picture of the Pig Stand before they tear it down. I mean, come on, Shirley MacLaine was there. 10 points to the first person to identify what's WRONG with this picture (hint: do a search for "pig stand" and try to spot the difference between my photo and everyone else's).

Back in the 1990's I took these images in total darkness using a Minolta 7000 film SLR and a flash with infra-red focusing of what remains of the prison that used to stand in Clerkenwell Green before it was all cleaned up for the tourists. What you can see here is underground.

Having a seat at the Hamburger Stand. They don't build them like this any more. The old style McDonald's Hamburger Stand where I grew up was demolished around 1971 and replaced with a McDonald's "restaurant". Before that if you went downtown, at the main corner, there was the red, white and yellow McDonald's on one side and an old Fashioned Jack in the Box ( with the giant clown head coming out of a box) on the other side. Downtown looked like an amusement park. McDonald's wasn't about to have any down time while the new restaurant was being built so they built it next to the hamburger stand. When it was finished they closed the hamburger stand and opened the restaurant. I was only six at the time but I know I took a photo of the two McDonald's ( old and new ) next to each other. I remember cleary having a difficult time framing the photo because of all the utility poles in front of the building. A comment was made that I was a natural photographer as I was walking up and down the road looking for the perfect shot. If I ever find the photo I will post it.

With the completion of each artwork, participants are asked to write an essay explaining their artwork, and the dream theme in which they chose.

The Dream Rocket project would like to challenge you to ‘Dare to Dream’. To dream about your future and the future of our world through dream themes such as health, community, conservation, science, technology, space, peace, and so on. We would like you to use your selected Dream Theme to express, explore, and create your vision on your section of the wrap. We hope that you are able to express and learn through this creative collaboration. With the completion of each artwork, you are asked to write a brief essay explaining your artwork, and the dream theme in which you chose.
