This amazingly tall standing stone was on Islay. Must be 4 meters. I like the naturalness of the scene even though it is all unnatural straight lines and man made....

This solitary tree stands almost alone on the beach. Seems odd that it is so much further out beyond the grasses than any of the other trees along that section of the beach. Taken near the Cove Point Lighthouse.

Clouds like this are so perfect for sunrises...I wish the weather cooperated more often for mornings like this.

Old Crow Tattoo and Gallery presents Stand Tall Pt.II: No Ceilings !

New Heights in Urban Contemporary Art

2 OPENING RECEPTIONS, 2 VENUES, 2 DAYS

Alot's happened since the last "Stand Tall" and as we move closer to 2012. We wanted to do it again, one last time....

Sooo here it is on March 4th and 5th, bigger and better with 60 of our favorite artists, covering a wide range of mediums and disciplines.

"Stand Tall" and in essence, is a conceptual installation show, where each artist has a 3ft x 9ft of wall space to exhibit whatever however they see fit. This show is meant to give each artist full liberty to create within a confined area. The concept allows for a visceral gallery presentation and also individual grace and focus from artist to artist.

Stand Tall Pt.II promises all the visual beauty of last years show but this time we'll be working with Photographer's, Skate Artists, Street Artists of all types, Visionary artists and of course Tattooists as well as accomplished fine artists to create a more dynamic event for everyone involved. We really cant say enough about the group of artists participating in this show. If you not familiar with any of they're work follow the links and get familiar.

JAPANTHER will be headlining the event and performing on Friday night @ Addis Habana. This will be a very special performance as they are also exhibiting in the show. This will be a rare time to see the artwork of JAPANTHER along with the music.

Mortar and Pestle will be playing @ Old Crow Tattoo and Gallery on Friday along with other surprises.

Daniel Yasmin w/ special guests will be playing live on Saturday evening.

Hosted by Philip Milic in the house he created.

We really hope you can attend this show, bring yourself and your friends both nights. This is a good one.

So Today I didn't really want to work more on the back section, in all honesty I was kind putting it off, so I figured I would work on the Stand instead, we all know a SHIP is only as good as it's stand1 Or something, depends I guess.

Luckily I had already build in a slot for the stand in the front section but I hadn't done anything for the rear section yet. So first I had to figure out what kind of height I needed, then try to work out the spacing from there.

As you can see above, I got the basics figured out and did a test using 2x2 bricks, the final legs are going to be reinforced Technic Bricks all interconnected with a Super Structure.

Although the frame itself is pretty light, it was surprisingly sturdy, it even survived some light shoving(I'd figured the legs made from the 2x2s would just end up splitting in half but it held) they were a little awkward to slot in, but once they're all connected I imagine it'll be easier.

As Always, any C&C is welcome!

Wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Impeach March NYC. On the eve of the Impeachment vote in the House 5000 people gathered in Times Square and marched to Union Square. One of over 600 protests around the country.

This is the Three Dots and a Dash, a classic tiki cocktail created by Don the Beachcomber in the 1940's during World War II. The name comes from the morse code for the letter "V" which stands for victory. Tiki drinks sometimes get a bad rap as being a mindless mix of rum, fruit juice, and sugar. Three Dots and a Dash certainly has all of those things, but it's not mindless at all. It features two key ingredients that take it from a rum fruit salad to a balanced caribbean extravaganza.

The first is Allspice Dram. We often think of winter baking spices like allspice and nutmeg as being European, but the reality is many are from the Caribbean and Central America. Donn Beach knew this which is why he included allspice dram from Jamaica. The second part was using honey, which helps build a connection between the fruit, rum and spice. The rum foundation is built on rhum agricole for a distinct grassy funk. Three Dots and a Dash isn't just an excuse to drink rum and fruit juice, but it's a tour through the Caribbean from Martinique, to Jamaican, to Barbados and beyond.

1 oz rhum agricole

1 oz aged Barbados rum

1 oz fresh lime juice (see note)

0.5 oz dry curaçao (see note)

0.5 oz falernum

1 tsp oz Allspice Dram

0.5 oz honey syrup (Combine honey and warm water at a 2:1 ratio)

3 dashes Angostura bitters

Combine all of the ingredients into a shaker tin. Add ice and shake vigorously until arctic cold. Strain into an ice filled chilled footed pilsner, tiki mug or collins glass. Garnish with three cherries to represent the three dots and one pineapple frond or chunk to represent the dash.

Note: This an adapted recipe from Paul McGee. The original recipe uses orange juice, but I feel that dry curaçao works better instead. To make the original version, substitute 0.5 oz orange juice for the dry curaçao and decrease the lime juice by 0.25 oz.
