After the Culver's binge we went up to the Sonoran Desert Preserve in northern Phoenix, another place Flickr maps doesn't know exists, I loved this place. I liked this location more than I liked the Mountain Preserve I just showed, this one had more cacti and the mountains felt very climbable. I actually went almost to the top of one and back down, here come more spines in the socks!
These cacti are unbelievably tall. From the perspective it's hard to tell, but that cactus is no shorter than 35-40 feet tall. No joke.

This little stand of trees sits back from the main Killaughy Road outside Donaghadee. If you look at them on Google Earth, they almost form a perfect circle. They are believed to be "fairy rings" and farmers will not cut them down even if they take up valuable space in the field.
In a more serious vein than her last photo, Amagi stands before a gourmet lobster feast at the hotel. She knows how to live really well, but I think she charged it all to my room.

Taken (in an actual hotel room) especially for this week's Toy Sunday theme, "food".
Built a little stand for my ship, the Cervina. It took me a long damned time to come up with an unconventional design to hold the unconventional shape of the ship, which I built with no foresight as to how it would be displayed.
I came up with this by holding the two bent technic bars and cradling the ship with them, kind of like an egg on a spoon. Then there was the whole lightbulb moment, and there you have it.
I attended Canon Photo Marathon today; It was a wonderful event. It really tested a photographer. Given a theme, working out on a photograph within 1-1/2 hours is tedious. Not so easy!
I performed tremendously bad.. I need a lot of improvement in me :'(
I shot this one for our last theme "Standing out" - Clicked using 50mm f1.8 lens at 1.8 which produced this DoF focusing only on one show piece. It was shot just at the submitting time..
Oyestercatchers are quite known to stand still on sands when resting, but I have never seen one doing that in rapidly flowing waters. So I decided to capture the motion of water. It was a bright day.. all I could manage was f/32 and 1/25 sec.
An early morning visit to Brunswick Point has both Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese feeding in the open strip of soil between the farmer's plantings.

Even though these nodding trillium have the most lush green leaves, the lighting in this one seemed to call out for black and white. And so it is. OM 90mm at probably f5.6 or 8.
