After building a second stand in black and temporarily bracing the two of them together, the maiden "flight" of my WIP ship is a success. The ship looks like it's banking, it is well-supported, and there is room for more weight. Good thing, because I'm not done building! After I take the ship off the stand, I'll replace my prototype with a matching black version, make some minor adjustments, and integrate the two stands better. This covers the flight option: landing gear is still to come!

Day 25 [1-25-18]
I missed most of the day on set and instead was driving around trying to try to fix a leaking tire on the company sprinter van. It didn’t know how difficult it would be to do but I ended up going to two different places over a span of 5 hours. It was hell. I’m just glad that I am back in the hotel and I am going to rest up for the long day that I have ahead of me. Goodnight to you all.

When on top of Sleepy Lion Trail, we hiked further up the ridge just to look down the south side. We are standing left of my last view. This is a pretty grand scene of the foothills, mountains beyond on the Divide (Meeker, left, and Longs, right) and a pretty good view down to Buttonrock Dam. The pesky clouds broke into a normal rush from the Divide and one of them covered us right then. This is a day among many when we get a grand mix of skies allotted in each year. A good trekking day, indeed!
Alexa, herself, refused to haul us up to the top of Sleepy Lion Trail! We had to avoid being overly accomplished voice controlled couch potatoes and had to do it ourselves! Who knew that exercise is an absolute requirement for bettering your DNA and also means leaving Alexa, an inviting couch and voice-controlled cable TV behind. At least, I found this picture by putting in the work to get here. You get to sit looking this shot over while watching your monitor. Google can tell you how to get here yourself and shoot you own scenes.
Phil wanted to look over the ridge down to the Hall Ranch - Longmont Dam construction road. Maybe he is tapped today even though I wanted to trek over westward to find a primo overlook. It looks like there are good sitting rocks over at the end of the meadow grasses. Even though we previously circuitously exited Sleepy Lion Trail to the old road, we can't spy that road from here. There are stretches of that road that have cold-patch blacktop and could be traveled at 50 in a minivan. We have previously walked that Hall/construction road down to the bottom of Rottenbuck dam. Here is the trail to the top for the view west to the Rockies backbone.
Navajo elders recite the legend, "The rain will come when the sky looks like many sheep." Earlier, the sun slowly started warming the skinny canyon below, where almost every direction is uphill. We trekked the territory several times in the past and had nothing in mind but headed up Sleepy Lion Trail anyhow. When these shots were on the card, we started back up Sleezy Lion Trail in hopes of getting there before long. Oh well, rentless onward, per Walt Kelly!
The entire canyon, above the old Longmont reservoir is deep and a glorious slice in the Rockies' crust all the way west to Wild Basin and Copeland Lake along the Peak-to-Peak Highway at the southern end of Rocky Mountain National Park. Some of it can be seen from the high point. The river, in its valley, is a quarter mile down below the Taylor Mountain. Taylor is the source of many shots in my photostream. I have too many shots awaiting edit.

It took me a while to set this up. Taped the matchsticks to a box to make them stand and placed a bond paper at the back for the background

As the current of the river carried my kayak swiftly by you can just imagine my face witnessing this rare event! I bet he was out looking for nests to rob. Poor birds don't stand a chance. He was lifting up his nose as if to sniff my scent in the air much like a bear. I am becoming quite the stealthy river rat when I can sneak up on a Mink.

Yesterday at first light, colour in the skies above Ben Buckler… A fantastic way to start one of the warmest days in the month of may in the past 30 years!
Too bad it's gone downhill today!

It's easy to stand with the crowd but it takes courage to stand alone.
We ate dinner at a restaurant nearby this magnificent lake at Khon Kaen, Thailand. Lucky enough, we were right on time for the sunset.
