"There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking."
– Led Zeppelin
Here's one from the archives. An 8-shot panorama taken at sunset with a little Sony point-and-shoot I had at the time. Stitched together afterwards in Lightroom. Looks best in browsers or apps that support AdobeRGB color. And big, on black, of course.

A stunning stairway track hiking trail from Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden Cape Town
Shot with a Canon EOS 700D
On the promontory of a small rocky peninsula that juts into the sea between Bermeo and Bakio, magical and legendary Gaztelugatxe Hermitage stands.
Its origins are shrouded in mystery, which is no stranger as a former convent of the Templars or that story about how the famous pirate Drake, passing through the Biscay coast, conquered the rock and threw vacuum hermit who lived there.
It is linked to the coast by a stone bridge and a staircase of 231 steps; reaching the top of this majestic natural vantage point is rewarded by the wonderful views from the top are covered with special mention summer evenings.
There is a legend that if you play three times the chapel bell attract good luck and stay away evil spirits.

3…2…1… Action! Azazel starts the introduction: “As my master said leap of faith is a whore but I swore to hell that this is a truth story that you would adore. Forget your boring daily obligations and get ready for the magical mystical tour. Little old me assures you this is a mind-blowing story that until now nobody from ordinary mortals know, it happened on Earth long time ago. As it was written in the stars majestic battle held between good and a dark foe. In the old days before Facebook, Instagram and corona crises there was a peaceful little kingdom. Residents never felt boredom, they lived in a peace, happiness & prosperity. Luckily for a decades this monarchy didn't have official enmity. Never discovered parchment fragment reveals that the name of kingdom was Welfareland. Ancient land was located on the territory of today's Balkan headland. It sounds a little bit twisted. You are probably suspiciously asking yourself, how come neither I nor prestige archaeologists never heard about this state? Does it really existed? Let's find out before I change my kind mind. Ruler of this country was king Lewenhart, people loved him because he was smart and he had a noble heart. King lived in the tiny & shiny castle with serene queen Vigilantia and charming daughter princess Abbelina whose smile is disarming. During his life Lewenhart stayed loyal to his people with undiminished ardor. Old ruler and his people used gold usually when they traded with foreigners but most everyone preferred barter. In this kingdom there wasn’t boring laws nor tax. People had motto “don't worry just relax”. Residents share food, positive mood, good wine and other goods with each other. Citizens always give a helping hand to neighbors or strangers, there wasn’t any beggars in Welfareland. For today’s life it seems very extraordinary but thieves and crimes didn’t existed so building prisons wasn't necessary. Empire had powerful military: foot soldiers, archers, and knights just in case to prevent eldritch witches, howling goblins, werewolves and other sons of bitches which might lurks in the night. Kingdom never made war with anyone but it had good army tradition due to possible defense because enemy never sleeps.” Judas Iscariot: “In the meantime as the devilish narrator speaks, prepare well for the story which will bring you excitements and creeps.”
Azazel Fallen angel (The devilish narrator) recommend you song Iron Maiden - The Fallen Angel.
Judas Iscariot (Lucifer's bank adviser) recommend you song Helloween – Immortal.

Mount Tianmen is a majestic mountain range situated in the south town of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan, China. The peak stands at 1518m high. Tianmen Cave (Heaven’s Door Cave | Heaven’s Gate Cave | 天門) is the world’s highest cave of its kind. It was formed naturally as a result of soil erosion. It’s alleged that in the year of 263, a large chunk of the mountain just fell off, creating a huge cavity (131.5 m height, 57 m width and 60 m long). Сloud capped “Heaven’s Gate” is impressive. In 1999, The World Wingsuit League held the first and second World Wingsuit Championships at Tianmen Mountain, flying through Tianmen Cave. 6 airplanes simultaneously flew through the cave successfully. There are 999 steep and narrow steps up to the cave - “The Stairway to Heaven”. It is a hard and tiresome climb (about 30 minutes). The views from the cave are quite plain, and it is always crowded, and hard to find a good place for photos. So it’s only really worth doing to say you’ve “climbed the stairway to heaven” and “knocked on Heaven’s Door”.
In February 2018 at the Dragon Challenge - Extreme Climb, a Range Rover succeeded in driving up the dizzying 99 hairpin turns from the foot of the hill (Tianmen Mountain Road 11.3km) and climbing the 999 steps, all the way to the Heaven's Gate.
This is an HDR image taken on an Autumn evening. With tight time constraint, I deployed a rubbish bin as an improvised tripod.

A lovely day out at Hatton Locks... beautiful day, in every way!
Locally known as the "Stairway to Heaven".
When they opened in 1799 the Hatton locks were a part of the Warwick and Birmingham canal, and much of the traffic was locally mined coal on its way to the Black Country, later it became a major part of the network moving goods from the Midlands to London. Today it is part of the Grand Union canal.
The Hatton locks contain 21 locks in less than 2 miles. This is only part of the stairway...more to go! :o)
As usual....music!!! Couldn't resist!

The sky, a perfect empty canvas, offers clouds nonetheless....
They shift and drift and beg interpretation...
Such is the nature of art.

Not a cloud in the sky this morning. The temperature climbed up to 40.2°C today and summer is over in just about a week.
The hour before sunrise was most spectacular and provided the opportunity to get some artistic shots along our shorelines.

..lushness and a stairway to heaven
I'm having a carpal tunnel problem with bunches of pain, so I'll be slow in commenting.
I'm going to have to resort to pain meds.
ugh...
This man is emptying the lock, so his narrowboat can slowly drop down to the level of the water in the foreground. One step down the "Stairway to Heaven". Who knows where heaven is - uphill or downhill?

shot at palma de mallorca airport building. by the way don´t you share my love with the sometimes bizarre interior architecture of airports? always the most reflective tiles, a lot of glass, very linear designs. for us photographers this opens a world of possibilities!
Caught this gorgeous cloud formation in my backyard that looked like stairs going into the heavens! Stay well & safe my friends! While at home catch up on all the things you've been meaning to do & always remember to do something nice just for you!
