Here's a small section of the stairs. The average slope was perhaps 45°, but there were sections of perhaps 80°. At that point, the stairs are basically a ladder straight up the mountain. Given the massive exposure (if you slipped, you would fall for a LONG time), I don't see the stairs being opened to the public anytime soon.

Finally I got around to processing some of my Cuba Libre Restaurant pictures. That restaurant was such an awesome place. It begged to be photographed and I think that this is one case where HDR really brings out the best in it.
There are several pictures. I hope you take the time to look at them all.
Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar is dedicated to a continued exploration of Cuban heritage, art,
music, flavors and traditions. The open-air setting, tropical ambiance, vintage décor, upbeat Latin music and Concept Chef/Partner, Guillermo Pernot's delectable menu of 'Nuevo Cubano' dishes and traditional favorites, make all of our restaurants a must-see, must-experience dining destination. The food and drinks were truly delicious.
The restaurant’s interior has a beautifully weathered historical feel. The materials combine warm mahogany and oak, cracked tile, painted plaster, exposed concrete and brick, and iron railings. With iron balconies overlooking a courtyard, a dramatic 30-foot ceiling, and paddle fans turning lazily, the space looks and feels like a street in Old Havana in the mid 1950s. (I've posted this one before but a smaller image.) Sydney Harbour Bridge southern end - if you look closely in the upper right hand corner you can see a group of Bridge Tourists about half way up their climb. They do have safety tethers I believe and the photo opportunities must be excellent but I don't think I'll be trying this anytime soon. Don't expect to see me sky diving or bungee jumping either - I'm a land-dwelling animal and that's how it will stay.

I was doing some photo editing last night and I came across this awesome effect...this was done with the photo of the rock below.
Of course, it immediately reminded me of the song by the same name, by Led Zeppelin...a beautiful and deep song.
If you want to hear the song, click on the link below.

I had a dream, last year, that I was climbing the 'stairway to heaven' and it was similar to this, except the stairs were surrounded by beautiful white clouds...I had forgotten about that dream until I saw this.
It had been a while since I wrote a poem, so I thought I would try and put into words, what I felt, when I had my dream.
I hope you enjoy.
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
I had a dream in which
I was climbing up, a flight of stairs
For so long, I climbed and climbed
I didn't seem to have a care
It suddenly, dawned on me
to view, what was ahead
I didn't know where, this would end
but trusted in my God, instead
I realised I was climbing
without fear...for with certainty I knew
that an Angel held my hand
and would be there, to see me through
I never had any doubt
the 'Stairway to Heaven'...I was on
I knew it would be magical...when I arrived
and like a child, I would be free to roam

Sculpture on top of the beautiful barroque post office in Valencia, displaying three angels of the apparently faithful, efficient and secure post delivery and a spiral stairway by their side which might be their shortcut to heaven?! :D

Focusing the lens upwards from the blue tinted glass of the bell tower.
The stairs and the interior are barely visible.
Instead the image is dominated by the outdoor elements i.e. sky, clouds and the main church which together form a biblical picture .. Perhaps with a different significance. Stairway to heaven?

Hmm, I always thought that heaven was that white light at the end of the tunnel. If this to heaven, why is there a RED light at the end? Uh oh, I think I got on the wrong one!
Here's one of the escalators that leads out of our Inter-planetary Bus Terminal, aka Pioneer Square Bus Tunnel. I had fun processing this to make it look a lot more dramatic than it really is. I'm hoping a lot of people will see the thumbnail, and be like "Oooh!!! What's that?!?!?" and then click on it and be like "Oh, it's just an escalator".
The title was taken, of course, from the song of the same name by the popular band Led Dirigible. :)
A stairway —seemingly ascending to Heaven— at sunset. It is located on Mt. Olympus, the gods’ residence, close to the place where Helicōn river (aka Ourlias) sinks itself below ground.
Legend has it that the maenads had first murdered Orpheus, then attempted to wash his blood off their hands in Helicon river’s waters. The river disappeared into a cleft in order to avoid getting tainted with the spilt blood and cleansing manslaughter.
Maenads were raving women who worshipped the god of wine, Dionysus, by roaming the mountains in a state of religious frenzy or ecstasy, as if possessed by the god.

Thousands of Flickr photos involving steps, staircases, stairwells etc. have been named after an irritatingly popular, legendary (and unspeakably good) song by a popular band that I am not allowed to mention but will only hint that the name starts with 'Z-' and ends with '-eppelin'...
I just wanted to say that this is not one of those :)

Von dort hat man einen gigantischen Panoramablick in die Weite der oberpfälzer Landschaft, aber auch nach untern auf den Radweg.
