Church of Saint Engelbert
St. Engelbert ist eine katholische Kirche in Köln-Riehl. Sie wurde 1930 bis 1932 nach einem Entwurf des Architekten Dominikus Böhm erbaut und gilt als der erste moderne Kirchenbau in Köln und darüber hinaus als einer der Ursprungsbauten moderner Kirchenarchitektur.
St. Engelbert is a Catholic church in Cologne-Riehl. It was built from 1930 to 1932 according to a design by the architect Dominikus Böhm and is considered the first modern church building in Cologne and also one of the original buildings of modern church architecture.

Die ältesten Gebäudeteile befinden sich im Untergeschoss des Nordturmes. Die frühromanische Kapelle stammt aus dem 11. Jahrhundert.
Die Kirche wurde um 1400 von Johann Brömser gestiftet und als langgestreckter Saalbau errichtet. Eingewölbt wurde sie 1489, gleichzeitig wurde das nördliche Seitenschiff angebaut. Im Jahr 1912 wurde sie nach Osten und Süden erweitert. Bei einem schweren Luftangriff während des Zweiten Weltkriegs auf Rüdesheim brannte die Kirche am 25. November 1944 aus. Ein großer Teil des Inventars fiel dem Feuer zum Opfer. Die Westfassade mit ihren achteckigen Ecktürmchen sowie das nördliche Seitenschiff mit dem Turm aus dem 12. Jahrhundert und seiner barocken Haube sind erhalten geblieben. Von 1946 bis 1956 wurde die Kirche in veränderter Form wieder aufgebaut und 1959 der Turmhelm aufgesetzt.

I was unsure which way I prefer to view it and experimented for a while with different settings.
I did like the effect of removing the light levels in the ceiling which when seen with the vertical perspective distortion, gives a feeling of extreme height. It is quite a tall building anyway, but I liked the thought that it disappeared in the sky.
The cathedral is relatively dark internally, and here there are soft muted colours and the altar is highlighted with 3 spotlights (artificially)
The adjacent shot is very colour desaturated, and provides a very sombre mood which is appropriate to the Gothic cathedral.

St Mawes is a small village opposite Falmouth, on the Roseland Peninsula on the south coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom. It lies on the east bank of the Carrick Roads, a large waterway created after the Ice Age from an ancient valley which flooded as the melt waters caused the sea level to rise dramatically. The immense natural harbour created is often claimed to be the third largest in the world. It was once a busy fishing port, but the trade declined during the 20th century and it now serves as a popular tourist location, with many properties in the village functioning as holiday accommodation. The village is in the civil parish of St Just in Roseland.

Its with great intrepidation that i upload this photo. Not just because it came out completely different from what i had intended, but because St Monans pier has been heavily photographed by every scottish photographer and his granny. Its almost like a bench mark, a sign of how good you are.
Well i couldnt do long exposure, the tide was out.
I couldnt do sunset, it was 3pm.
So this is my shot of St Monans Pier.
My hesitation comes the from fear of being judged. Although i might tell myself i dont care and im taking photographs for my own enjoyment... i wouldnt be uploading them i didnt want to share them and hopefully get a bit of feedback. A few favs and comment is great, but its not really a true reflection of how good the shot is. Its more a reflection of how many people have seen it and felt compeld to hit that little star. A shot on explore with 30K views isnt really a sign of talent.
Photography is a long and bumpy journey and when you start you dont realise where it will take you. I certainly didnt. I never started with idea of being an "artist", i still dont. but it seams impossible to dodge.

The St. Pierre Cathedral is a cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland, today belonging to the Reformed Protestant Church of Geneva. It is known as the adopted home church of John Calvin, one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation. Inside the church is a wooden chair used by Calvin.
It was begun under Arducius de Faucigny, the prince-bishop of the Diocese of Geneva, around 1160. It was originally built in Romanesque style and was completed a hundred years later in Gothic style. A Neo-Classical main facade was added in the 18th century.
The area beneath the Cathedral has recently been excavated extensively, revealing a history of the site dating back to the time of the Roman Empire.[citation needed] From the 8th to 10th centuries it was one of three cathedrals to coexist on the site. The present building has grown from a cathedral devoted to ecclesiastical use and an early Christian funerary cult; the other two structures, subsumed in the 12th century by the growth of the surviving building, were apparently for different uses, one for public sacraments and the other for church teachings.
The German painter Konrad Witz painted an altarpiece, the so-called St. Peter Altarpiece, for the Cathedral in 1444, now in the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire, Geneva, which contains his composition, the Miraculous Draught of Fishes.

St Margaret’s church, dedicated to St Margaret of Antioch, is believed to date from 1291. The original construction was simply a single aisle and sanctuary, of which probably only the south wall still remains. The porch was added around the 16th Century and the tower, despite its Norman appearance was added in 1700. The peal of six bells was hung in 1701. A replica of the tenor bell was shipped to America in 1752, and is now called ‘The Liberty Bell’ because it was rung to proclaim the Declaration of Independence.
Margaret’s used to have a gallery, but this was removed during major restoration work in 1872, together with the high box pews which were used for ‘the gentry’. The church was enlarged by the addition of the north aisle and vestry, an organ was installed to replace the barrel-organ and the chancel was extended.
The 80 foot deep St. Louis Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Spring. I believe most of the year, this waterfall is active. Many of the Starved Rock canyons have waterfalls only in wet seasons.

It is a 19th-century castellated baronial-style mansion, formerly known as "St Brides Hill" or just "Hill". It was developed for William Philipps (1810–1864) in 1833 from an 18th-century house on the site.

St Katharine Docks, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, were one of the commercial docks serving London, on the north side of the river Thames just east (downstream) of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. They were part of the Port of London, in the area now known as the Docklands.
