As you can see throughout the universe inter connecting galactic highways roam free. Also along your journey you may encounter interstellar nebula gasses spewing throughout space and time !

Poem.

Salmon-pink sky, silhouetted headlands and an islanded, silver-studded lake branded by the sun.

Five and twenty miles away, virtually lost in the evening ozone, the islands of Eigg and Rum fade upwards in the glare, to oblivion.

Here on the northern slopes of Morar, sheep graze, unmindful of the blinding, dazzling sunset.

Pine-fringed islands lead the eye sea-wards where a two mile river gushes the lake into Morar Bay – a white-sand haven.

Here at a five hundred foot elevation the path turns northwards linking Morar – a nearly fjord, to Nevis, a real fjord.

Mountains interspersed by east-west stretches of sea-water typify this remarkable coastline.

Bounded by fifty beaches and islands the perspectives are breath-taking at every twist and turn.

A shimmering haze suspends the senses, time seems to slow and the moment stretches, like Dali-esque “floppy” clocks.

Space, time and reality blur and merge, soothing the senses.

The moment passes, but for that moment,

Karma, Nirvana, Paradise.

It's a law of nature, more or less.

I signed on today and was greeted by a very pleasant surprise from _SG_ (Steffen)! I would like to thank him for a wonderful and unexpected testimonial. He has been a contact and friend for just a short while but has a eye catching crisp and beautiful stream. He seems to travel extensively around the world and brings that beauty to Flickr. Many thanks!

In the midst of the Space Time Continuum and any other dimensional parallax out there a wormhole or hypa-space service port landing pad is a welcome break in interstallar travel - or even between one tree to the next !!

Just what is says folks,… a Moon shot surrounded by an ellipse…

This is NOT SOOC!!! LOL!!

"i always thought it was so cool to be able to sit on the edge of Texas. Like you can literally sit on the edge."

(no reaction)

"That don't impress you much, eh?"

"No."

*we both laugh*

(What i wanted to say, and what was in my brain was

"i always thought it was so cool to be able to sit on the edge of Texas. of any coast, really. because when I do, i picture what that must look like from high above. tiny me, on the edge of the land, with feet dangling in the friendly part of the sea that gently laps the shore...and then - zoom up higher and the vastness of the sea/ocean becomes overwhelmingly apparent. how tiny our populated landmasses are, and myself in comparison, less than minute. what battles rage on in her depths? how much human folly lies on her sandy bottom? how many souls are trapped out there without a bridge? how does she decide who lives and dies in her waters? and why do these waves sound relentlessly peaceful? why does the sun reflecting off the water seem like divinity itself touching down? why does the breaking of small waves on rocks so fascinate? if i can't even contemplate and fathom the sea, how can i fathom the universe at large?

...

but here i am, on the edge of Texas, and the sea is friendly here. and sometimes that's enough."

/alternately

"but here i am, somewhere in space time, and the universe at this present moment is friendly here, and sometimes that's enough."

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "Measurement". A plastic ruler and a 19th century clock illustrate the measurement of space-time, the four-dimensional continuum in which we live.

WDTX glides into Vancouver Washington for a station stop enroute to Portlandia. My old Nikon Nikkor 20mm f2.8 AF lens, which should be compatible with the Z6 II with the FTZ adapter is clearly not compatible as demonstrated by the soft perimeter field of focus! But still it is kind of a neat photo to show.

I met a clear beach of water and light.

I climbed on the rocks so much beauty thrilled

We decided to take this spectacular view from an overview

The greatest moment to fuse waves and light

Among them looked stifling.

The spectacle is not the same for a moment

Sometimes I change my look and I repeat my smile

It is engraved in my mind and it echoes.

I'm going back to my thoughts and calm judgment

Staring at this spectacle, overjoyed space-time

In harmony with the natural world, and the spectacle .

these Star Trek fans explained to us that they mistakenly entered a time warp that transported them to the Renaissance era. I gotta give the credi for their creativity. Lets just hope they don't screw up the space-time continueum.

"Captain's Log Supplemental; Investing the temporal anomalies on D5 Gamma Z Alpha we have discovered a stone crystal that not only seems to be the source but is also of a similar make-up to the structure known as 'The Guardian of Forever'. An unfinished construction? A fragment of the original? A growing seed? Our readings suggest that this rock, like the Guardian, is sentient but as yet we have not been able to speak with it. Mr Spock is attempting a Vulcan Mind Meld to try to reach this rock's... this creature's(?) conscience before the temporal waves it is causing rip the space time continuum apart."

I walked through a drizzly beech forest on a certain summer day.

As the forest proceeds to the back, many of the trees are attractive

Become a mysterious primeval forest and the charm is deepened

.

The fog has been repeatedly shaded to make the forest fantastically

Wrapping, the leaves are dyed in pale green.

There is no sound stood in the Forest of silence itself

I feel the time and space to listen to the sound

To the body, and to appreciate the joy of it.

The passage of time is most likely an illusion even though our senses tell us that time flows.

Consciousness may involve thermodynamic or quantum processes that lend the impression of living moment by moment. According to a certain physicist, time is not real and what we regard as the time is no more than changes that lead to the illusion of time.

In a rather strange move, Nikon just released a rebranded 1st Gen Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 lens in Z mount at $1,199.95, the lens diagrams for the mirrorless Z and E mount versions are identical with identical MTF and minimum focus distance.

Like some Matrix “black cat” deja vu, Olympus (after being spun off from the Olympus Parent Co) did the same thing previously with the remounted 100-400mm f5-6.3 IS which was derived from Sigma’s older DSLR version of the same lens rather than the newer mirrorless 100-400mm DN version while asking for a price way in excess of the original Sigma DSLR lens!

The newer Sony E mount Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G2 is currently available for $899 and the superseded version (now rebranded Z version) was released back in 2018 at $800. This makes the rebranded Z mount version 50% (+$400!) more expensive than the 2018 E mount version! Heck, the rebranded Z version is even ⅓ more expensive than the newest 2021 Tamron G2 version! Adding insult to injury, the remounted Z lens won’t get Tamron’s much longer 5 years warranty.

More choice is great but it’s not good to fleece one’s loyal customers so blatantly. The issue is not about who actually made the lens but rather Nikon charging 50% more for a lens that has already been replaced by a newer G2 version which is way, way too much just for native AF compatibility!!

As expected, the usual Nikon Z-ealot fanbois shills are out in full force with hyperbolic rationalization and attempts to warp space-time by suggesting that the Z mount version has some magical secret Nikon sauce for better performance, steering discussions well away from the ridiculous 50% premium for a superseded model! Ludicrous mental gymnastics such as outright denial that it’s the same lens, hallucinating possible addition of Nikon lens coatings or AF motors or that Leica does the same with rebranding Sigma lenses hence this is kosher…..

Nikon Z-ealots were already trying to spin that the Z 24-120mm f4 S is optically superior just because the VR mechanism was omitted! Tamron typically leaves out VR in their mirrorless lenses, perhaps the new Z 24-120mm f4.0 S was also designed by Tamron since this was also announced at the same time as the rebranded Z 28-75mm f2.8!?

Really odd behaviour that we seldom see in folks using other brands, perhaps Z-ealot shills live in the Matrix and hence lost all capacity to discern reality from fiction!

When the equivalent Z lens is markedly larger than other brands’ versions, Z-ealots will tell you that Nikon optimized performance over size! Nikon’s largest Z mount diameter supposedly allows for more efficient lens designs but yet they end up with larger, heavier and more expensive lenses, why?

The likely reason is all about financials. Nikon’s market share has been shrinking for years, their mirrorless market share is even smaller and continues to shrink in a shrinking market. In order to generate enough revenue to offset their higher fixed costs (esp R&D) over diminishing unit sales, they have to charge ever higher margins. As such even if the bigger mount diameter hypothetically does allow for more efficient lens designs, whatever design benefits derived must 1st go towards bolstering the Nikon imaging division’s bottomline hence their Z mount lenses ended up bigger, heavier and more expensive at the expense of the consumer! The Z system does not offer value to the consumer; www.flickr.com/photos/86145600@N07/51134617306/in/datepos...

Nikon has always been behind in releasing and updating lenses as well. This is also a direct consequence of a smaller market share even during the DSLR era. Canon will have version III lenses out when Nikon in many cases never even manage to update to version II.

In the UWA category, Canon had EF 16-35mm f2.8L III while Nikon was stuck with their 1st version at f4 from 2010! Fixed aperture standard zoom Canon EF 24-105mm f4 got version II updates vs Nikon’s single generation AF-S 24-120mm f4. Same for Prime lenses, Canon EF 35mm f1.4II while Nikon never went beyond AF-S 35mm f1.4G from 2010. Canon’s superb variable aperture EF 100-400mm II while Nikon never got beyond their disappointing 1st version 80-400mm zoom from 1996. Even with supertele exotics, Canon EF 400mm f2.8, 500mm f4 and 600mm f4 all reached 3rd generation updates while Nikon only managed 2 generations. Now in the mirrorless age, Nikon’s market share is even smaller, very small in fact. No wonder the Nikon shills have been so frantically spewing misinformation in the gear forums!

The Z 800mm f6.3 PF VR announcement is however much more exciting! This is the area where Nikon appears to have real competitive advantage over others.

COME ON AND TALK TO ME NOW

HEY, WHAT YOU GOT TO HIDE?

AND DON'T KNOW WHICH PATH TO CHOOSE

LET ME COME ALONG

I'LL STAND BY YOU

TAKE ME IN, INTO YOUR DARKEST HOUR

Today's story and sketch by me #1351, is concerning Bwadly Chanki, you see in the interdimension Stratolounger. Bwadly is from the Planet Dell Webba, A franchise smaller sized Planet, in dimension Thirteen. Bwadly was in the buffet line when he had to take a leak, he asked the lady behind him, actually his wife Aggi, who has Dementia, who he hoped would remember him when he cuts back into line, he excused himself to the other diners.Got into his stratolounger for the quarter mile ride to the restrooms. Luckily Aggi had forgotten who Bwadly was, where she was, and why she was in a line, about the same time Bwadly, went through the restroom door which had become a quivering, shimmering space time portal. (Black Hole),.that was yesterday afternoon just about teatime on Del Webba. Twelve minutes later he arrived here under the Banana Palm you see him under, on this Tropical Volcanic Planet we call Budahunga. When myself and Deputy Cosmo land, hopefully we will get more information about Dwadly's big adventure, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

Today's story and sketch by me 1458, Is about the pedestrian that just rode out of a space time portal on a personal mobility scooter, being confronted by a Thumper Dove, one of our other recent arrivals, to this Tropical Volcanic Planet we call Budahunga. The pedestrians journey started on his home Planet Sebum, in Dimension Fourteen. His home is a Senior Living Facility, as are all residence on Sebum. The pedestrians name is Windal, Windal had been in the buffet line for about two hour when nature called. When Windal finally made his way to the outhouse, all of the potties on Sebum, are quite primitive outdoor units. Just as he approached the outhouse he was sucked up by the space time portal, that dropped him here. There was no confrontation on their first contact, in fact they have become great friends, there communication difficulties, will have to be a story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

Some maple leaves rest on the surface of a pond along coastal Maine during a visit in 2015. I adore the coast of Maine though seldom visit. And I love fall color, of which New England has an abundance. This year my fall photography excursions have been lacking, but looking through the archives I found this colorful gem. The vibrant maple leaves gently floated on the surface of the pond. The ripples in the reflection around the leaves show them resting on the surface tension, distorting the water's surface like a mass distorts space-time in an illustrative drawing. The blue sky reflects in the wavy surface intermixed with dark source tree shadows, while lurking below other leaves that have come to rest at the bottom reach up from the depth. And on top of it all round water droplets hitch a ride on the leaf rafts before they inevitably join the collective water. I hope to return to New England for fall one of these days.

For this view, I set the time machine's space-time continuum circuit back 74 years to the West Coast.

Here's a GREAT video about Bunker Hill and its complete demise... www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNyRSrw7WS4

In the mid 1960s, a large 19th century neighborhood consisting of once glamorous but now dilapidated Victorian mansions and run-down wooden homes was completely leveled in the name of urban renewal. A series of tall, bland mid-century apartment buildings took their place.

Here's what I found in the website Curbed.LA.com.

The very words “Bunker Hill” and “Downtown” didn’t exactly conjure up visions of a harmonious landscape. The city had long before decreed what had been the most densely populated residential district in Los Angeles a crime, disease and hazard-riddled blight.

“The Hill was viewed as a cancer whose spread could only be prevented through removal,” writes Stephen Jones in The Bunker Hill Story: Welfare, Redevelopment and the Housing Crisis in Postwar Los Angeles.

The redevelopment project adopted by the city on March 31, 1959 grew out of an urban revival movement sweeping the nation and kickstarted by federal housing acts that offered aid for the clearing of “urban blight.”

This image reminded me of a Star Trek episode.

Well further to my first Scary Santa shot the other day we find that he is still stuck in the same place & we do hope he gets going again in time -

Talking of time it is now been proven that Santa gets round all of his calls in the one night basically due to the theories of Einstien#s Theories of Relativity . The theories also explain that travelling atthat sustained speed in relation to his surroundings does in fact alter his mass making him thinner somewhat thus explaining how he negotiates the slim chimneys .

The trouble is huge power supplies are required for this form of travel and maybe the transport issues at the moment have delayed delivery -----

On the other hand , Scary Santa may just have overlooked the restraining chains seen underneath the SantaMobile ( as observed by John ) .

Now this shot is for the Saturday Self Challenge and as it is a shot timed at 1.3 seconds it is not the longest exposured but working with only a monopod that was as long as I could push it . I was not expecting an chance this week to take a shot for the challenge and was going to have to manipulate an old slow shot of a water cascade somehow . But in the spirit of the group and a golden opportunity - hey presto ! ( er you can wake up now )

Galaxies abound in this spectacular @[157048324896449:NASA's Hubble Space Telescope] image; spiral arms swirl in all colors and orientations, and fuzzy ellipticals can be seen speckled across the frame as softly glowing smudges on the sky. Each visible speck of a galaxy is home to countless stars. A few stars closer to home shine brightly in the foreground, while a massive galaxy cluster nestles at the very center of the image — an immense collection of maybe thousands of galaxies, all held together by the relentless force of gravity.

Galaxy clusters are some of the most interesting objects in the cosmos. They are the nodes of the cosmic web that permeates the entire universe — to study them is to study the organization of matter on the grandest of scales. Not only are galaxy clusters ideal subjects for the study of dark matter and dark energy, but they also allow for the study of farther-flung galaxies. Their immense gravitational influence means they distort the space-time around them, causing them to act like giant zoom lenses. The light of background galaxies is warped and magnified as it passes through the galaxy cluster, allowing astronomers insight into the distant — and therefore early — universe.

This image was taken by Hubble’s Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3 as part of an observing program called RELICS (Reionization Lensing Cluster Survey). RELICS imaged 41 massive galaxy clusters with the aim of finding the brightest distant galaxies for the forthcoming James Webb Space Telescope to study.

Today's story and sketch by me #1350, is about Sid Gromski a Zommie from the Planet Shaffto, in dimension Twenty. Sid wasn't always a Zombie, Sid was actually one of the greatest Spaceship test pilots in dimension twenty, and had a unique talent of being able to survive the most Horrendous crashes. Sid wasn't always a Zombie, but after walking away from numerous nasty crashes, until one frosty sunrise while testing a nuclear powered twin seat Space Roadster, flying way to low over the frozen moon known as Woopa Zero. The controls froze, Sid hit the Surface of Woopa O, traveling At a little over 2,500 miles an hour, slid 12 miles across the icy surface of Lake Moorcold, before the heat from the nuclear reactor melted the surface ice, and sinking 22 feet to the bottom. Now Sid was really pissed off, knowing is body temp had reached the same as the icy water, but was still conscious. Just at that moment Sid was sucked into an underwater space time portal (WBH), a Watery Black Hole, and within one hour was transported to where you see him, cold but alive on this Planet we call Budahunga, how or why Sid was directed here, will have to be a story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

Bend the space-time continuum, 'cause there's so much to explore :)

Today's story and sketch by me #1300 NotChicken in every pot. Is about Tye Alfresco from the Planet Zorabi. Tye's Spacecraft crash landed here on this Tropical Volcanic Planet eight months ago. We call it Budahunga, it's hurling though the space time continuum, in some unknown Galaxy in an unknown Dimension. but more about that, will have to be a story for another time. Because the big story this morning is about Tye's bathing style, that caught the attention of Deputy Morton. Morton had never seen a Zorabian bathing in a Cauldron of 100 Degrees Celsius bubbling swamp mud. But that also will have to be a story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

Today's story and sketch by me #1342 Kalipto, Is about the stranger I just discovered under the banana tree. His name is Kalipto, he was formerly a citizen of the city of Tajunga on Planet Somahottarock, in dimension eleven. Formally was yesterday, that was when Kalipto went into his local tavern for a cold one, but as he walked through the door, the door became a space time portal, Kalipto was instantly, maybe not quite instantly, he is not sure how long he was spinning and tumbling through the space time Continuum, before being plucked down under this banana tree, on this Tropical Volcanic Planet we call Budahunga. Just who Kalipto is, and why he is one of the many new characters to be relocated to Budahunga will have to be a story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.

'I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you'

91108 prepares to get underway from York with 1E24 the 17:00 Edinburgh to London King's Cross on the evening on Sunday 06.11.2016

I always have very happy associations with railway stations but they can be scenes of sadness; saying good bye to a loved one, waiting for someone who doesn't show, making a journey alone.

This is a shot I've had in mind for sometime but normally with the Mk4 sets the loco ends up under the bridge. This evening I was lucky and the set was short formed by one coach.
