Crowsnest at Beauvais PP, the fires to the west made for a great sunset. Crowsnest mountain and the 7 sisters spires, setting sun reflecting off the cabins and docks of the lake.

False Bay. first mentioned in 1488 as the “gulf between the mountains”. The name “False Bay” comes from sailors who sailed into the bay because they thought it was Table Bay.

I happened to be in Anglesey this weekend, staying not too far from South Stack. So armed with my filters I headed over, and timed my arrival just after the sun had set.

The South Foreland Lighthouse was apparently the first to use an electric light. It is also associated with early radio experiments conducted by Marconi.
The year 2000 was a good one for fans of the Rio Grande, with many opportunities to see original D&RGW power operating on home rails. Twelve years after Rio Grande purchased Southern Pacific and four years after UP absorbed it all, Rio Grande's presence persisted. One of the more obscure operations was in Colorado's San Luis Valley. In this view near the then end-of-track of the Alamosa Subdivision, the crew of UP's "Creede Local" is picking up loaded woodchip gondolas at the loadout along US-160 in South Fork. The crew had turned their power earlier on the wye at Derrick, a short distance to the west. They will soon head back to Alamosa with a short train punctuated by a Rio Grande caboose, doing whatever work was needed along the way.

A westbound CSS&SB commuter train rolls into the station at Miller, passing South Shore Freight SD38-2 #804 with a cut of cars from the CSX interchange. A few years later, all of the CSX interchange traffic would be moved from here to the BRC's Commercial Ave yard.

Clwydian Range
Looking south from Moel Gyw over to Moel Llanfair and Moel Y Plas.
Not the most dramatic landscape but its a quiet walk. Only seen two people all day.
Lighthouse situated close to St. Margaret's above the White Cliffs of Dover. Built during Victorian times the lighthouse's main purpose was to warn shipping of the dangerous Goodwin Sands which are sand banks lying off the coast that are revealed at low tides. Interestingly the South Foreland was the first lighthouse to use an electric light.
This is one of my favorite little waterfalls at South Mountain State Park. You see this view as you arrive at the lower set of falls along the trail to High Shoals Falls. During high water flow is the best time to visit this place. There are so many little waterfalls find their way through the large boulders.
