seen 11 years ago from a room in the Chateau Granville Hotel. My sister had come to town for the weekend and we awoke to the sight of falling snow, it was very exciting, and it snowed all day, and we tromped around taking in the sights through an opaque blanket of fluttering snowflakes, it was beautiful.
So there is a possibility that we might receive some snow later this week or early next week, well, its the talk of the town. Everywhere I went yesterday while out and about I overheard conversations about the imminent "blizzard". People were "stocking up" in the grocery store, just in case, it was quite funny. And I'm sure that drivers are getting snow tires which we very seldom need here. If we do get some, I will of course be madly snapping away and enjoying walking as it falls. I'm sure many people in the rest of the country are sick of snow and wish it would go away very soon but here in Lotusland it is a rare treat :)
Well, it was a snow-half-a-day actually... my daughter's school closed at lunchtime :)
I was out of my comfort zone with this shot, having swapped my prime lens for the zoom. I'd read an article about taken close-up shots with zooms and thought I'd give it a try. I love the effect... but missed the bigger aperture of the prime lens. Still, I'm going to keep the zoom on the camera for a while and practice!
An Amtrak Hiawatha was stirring up the powder from a recent snow behind a nicely adorned F40 Cabbage car in 2010.
It was quite cold but the code blue sky and swirling snow made it a decent way to spend some time on CP's C&M Subdivision.

Earlier today our weather turned from cold to bitter
with added wind chill. It is -10C as I wrote this.
Ross put the heaters on our two hummingbird feeders.
But I am worried about my other birdies.
How do they survive such frigid weather?
And this cold will be here for another week ...

I kept having to make a largish snowball for Sam to carry around. It would slip further and further down out of his grip until it would fall and break at his feet. Then he'd yell "snow... BALL!" repeatedly and follow me around until I'd make him another one, at which time the process began all over again.
