seen 11 years ago from a room in the Chateau Granville Hotel. My sister had come to town for the weekend and we awoke to the sight of falling snow, it was very exciting, and it snowed all day, and we tromped around taking in the sights through an opaque blanket of fluttering snowflakes, it was beautiful.
So there is a possibility that we might receive some snow later this week or early next week, well, its the talk of the town. Everywhere I went yesterday while out and about I overheard conversations about the imminent "blizzard". People were "stocking up" in the grocery store, just in case, it was quite funny. And I'm sure that drivers are getting snow tires which we very seldom need here. If we do get some, I will of course be madly snapping away and enjoying walking as it falls. I'm sure many people in the rest of the country are sick of snow and wish it would go away very soon but here in Lotusland it is a rare treat :)
Well, it was a snow-half-a-day actually... my daughter's school closed at lunchtime :)
I was out of my comfort zone with this shot, having swapped my prime lens for the zoom. I'd read an article about taken close-up shots with zooms and thought I'd give it a try. I love the effect... but missed the bigger aperture of the prime lens. Still, I'm going to keep the zoom on the camera for a while and practice!
An Amtrak Hiawatha was stirring up the powder from a recent snow behind a nicely adorned F40 Cabbage car in 2010.
It was quite cold but the code blue sky and swirling snow made it a decent way to spend some time on CP's C&M Subdivision.
There was just enough snow today (3-4 inches) to get on my skis in the backyard. The top right and left shots show our planted christmas trees. The bottom right shows the open space behind our yard (it used to be a part of our property but was sold to our next door neighbor well before we moved in 1978). I am able to make a nice little loop back there to XC ski.

13.2.13... AT LAST... we have snow. Proper sledging snow. And the kids are off school for an in service day!!
I kept having to make a largish snowball for Sam to carry around. It would slip further and further down out of his grip until it would fall and break at his feet. Then he'd yell "snow... BALL!" repeatedly and follow me around until I'd make him another one, at which time the process began all over again.
