Produced from 1953 to 1963, a total of 25.881 units were built. As early as 1953, development began on an open version of the 180 Ponton sedan. The 190 SL is therefore technically based on the so-called "Ponton Model". It was available only with a 1,9-litre 4 in-line petrol engine equipped with twin carburetors. It was introduced at roughly the same time as the 300 SL Gullwing. It shared some styling features and was intended to be an affordable version of the exclusive sports car. For this reason, Daimler-Benz described it in its brochures as a "touring car" rather than a sports car. In 1963, it was succeeded by the "Pagoda" (W113).

R129
Introduced in 1989 as a 2-passenger convertible with a removable hardtop - the first Mercedes to feature a fully automatic, hydraulically operated fabric convertible top, projector lens HID headlamps (1995) and an automatic rollbar, which self-deployed in a rollover event. The retractable rollbar could also be raised or lowered manually using a switch on the console, and facilitated occupant safety without compromising aesthetics. In 1992, the R129 became the first SL to offer a V12 engine and the first to feature official AMG variants. It was also the last SL to be offered with a manual gearbox. Production continued until 2001.

W198II
Originally sold to a customer in Toronto, Canada, by the local Mercedes company in September 1959, this 300 SL Roadster was acquired by the current owner during a vacation in Florida in March 1986. Since then he has covered over 70.000 km all over Europe at its wheel without the slightest problem. Totally restored between 1987 and 1990, this car was awarded first prize in the Grand Touring category at the 1991 Louis Vuitton Concours d'Elegance at Bagatelle.

I went to the 2009 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and it was my first show with my digital camera. I snapped away to my heart's content.
First up is a Mercedes-Benz SL65, with the AMG package. Benzes of any kind are kind of exclusive, but at over $181,000, the SL65 is really exclusive! More like exclusionary!
It bears a 6.0-liter V12 engine, with 36 valves, and 604 horsepower. It only gets fifteen miles a gallon in combined city/highway driving, but does anyone who can afford this car care about fuel economy?

The 1989 Geneva Motor Show was marked by the presentation of the brand new version of the SL, dubbed the R129. This generation represented a real technological leap forward compared to the R107, with the introduction of advanced safety systems such as ESP and a retractable hardtop.
This model was delivered to its first owner on June 22, 1998. The color combination chosen is also one of the most elegant, combining “Midnight Blue” (code 904O) with an exclusive bluegray leather interior (code 518A). Today, the car has only 4,650 km on the odometer. Of course, this model is literally in mint condition, both in terms of its bodywork and interior. Both are extremely well preserved, as is its hardtop, which is still in place and in mint condition.
Our test drive showed us that the car was in good working order, despite the very low mileage in recent years. Of course, a general overhaul would be necessary if the next owner wanted to run this car. Like the other SL in this collection, our car is one of those “exceptions that prove the rule”... The vast majority of SLs, especially in the R129 generation, have clocked up tens of thousands of miles thanks to their outstanding road handling qualities. Finding a model with such reasonable mileage is already a challenge in itself, and will become even more so in the coming years. So don’t miss this opportunity to add to your collection the SL from the 1990s, a symbol of a generation, in such exceptional condition. This opportunity may never come again...
W198
For many, this is the first true supercar. Originally, it was a pure racing car - type name SLR - of which only 10 were built in 1952. Between 1955 and 1957, 1.400 Gullwings were produced : it was the first production car with fuel injection. A key feature was its extremely rigid construction thanks to a tubular chassis. What captures the imagination most are the gullwing doors, which inspired many nicknames. 29 ex. with aluminum bodywork were also built, resulting in a weight saving of 158 kg. The 300 SL has long been a benchmark in classic car valuation, somewhat like the gold standard.

The 1989 Geneva Motor Show was marked by the presentation of the brand new version of the SL, dubbed the R129. This generation represented a real technological leap forward compared to the R107, with the introduction of advanced safety systems such as ESP and a retractable hardtop.
Our model was delivered on March 4, 1993, to its first owner, who lived in Paris’s 1st arrondissement. The color combination chosen is undoubtedly one of the most elegant, combining metallic brown (ref. 475O) with chocolate brown leather interior called “Brazil” (273A) and a chocolate brown soft top... The first owner didn’t stop there, as he also added the desirable option of a 5-speed automatic transmission, ASD, and two additional seats. The car remained with its first owner for over 28 years before joining one of France’s largest Mercedes-Benz collections, where it remains to this day. Remarkably, its odometer shows just under 8.400 km !
Today, the car is in near-new condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. Its paintwork is original (measurements available on request) and flawless, as is its upholstery, which is in excellent condition. Our test drive was a delight: the 6-cylinder engine offers excellent driving pleasure! Despite this, a routine service should be considered if the next owner wishes to take it back on the road! The R129 is one of the most legendary cars of the 1990s, and the majority have exceeded 100,000 km. This example is undoubtedly one of the lowest-mileage models and will be one of the centerpieces of tomorrow’s collections.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class are a mid-size rear-wheel drive, four-seater luxury coupés and convertibles, produced by German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in two generations, respectively based on the W202 and W203 platforms of the C-Class. It was positioned below the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class and SL-Class, but above the SLK-Class. The CLK name derives from the German Coupé Leicht Kompakt (or Kurz), translated Coupé-Light-Short.
