Here's a profile picture of the Mercedes-Benz 190SL I photographed earlier. I think it's a 1958 model.

The 190SL debuted in 1955 and was in production for eight seasons, and it retured a 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine that generated 104 horsepower. The hardtop was removable.

Would you believe that this "German" touring car was actually assembled in Australia? :-D

Note the "For Sale" sign on it. :-)

R107

In 1971, the R107 was introduced with a new design language and safety features that would influence subsequent Mercedes models. For the first time, V8 engines were fitted to the SL-Class. Produced from 1971 to 1989, the R107 became one of Mercedes longest-produced models. For the 1981 model year, engine options were updated with new aluminum V8s. A major update followed in 1985, featuring a deeper front air dam, revised braking system, a driver's side airbag and a catalytic converter option. Over the years, the model range included 9 different engine variants.

For many, this is the first true supercar. Originally, it was a pure racing car - type name SLR - of which only 10 were built in 1952. Between 1955 and 1957, 1.400 Gullwings were produced : it was the first production car with fuel injection. A key feature was its extremely rigid construction thanks to a tubular chassis. What captures the imagination most are the gullwing doors, which inspired many nicknames. 29 ex. with aluminum bodywork were also built, resulting in a weight saving of 158 kg. The 300 SL has long been a benchmark in classic car valuation, somewhat like the gold standard.

Daimler-Benz developed this hardtop version of the 300 SLR racing car for the 1956 season. It was never used in racing, however, because the company ceased its motorsport activities at the end of the 1955 season. Instead, the 300 SLR coupé served the head of the Test Department, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, as a company car. The nickname 'Uhlenhaut coupé' is a reminder of this.

This model, with in-house code W113, was designed by the Frenchman Paul Bracq. It is commonly known as the "Pagoda" due to the slightly concave shape of its hardtop. It was the first sportscar fitted with crumple zones, as previously introduced on the W110 "Heckflosse". The model was produced from 1963 to 1971 in 3 different versions : the 230 SL (1963-1967), the 250 SL (1966-1968) and the 280 SL (1967-1971). The model designation refers to the engine displacement. A total of 48.912 units were produced.
