It’s been a while since our Angeles Crest adventure but we are still talking about it. W9 and I have implored Lou Orr to simply attach us to his roof rack because every seat in his car was taken for a trip up to the Chilao Visitor Center in the San Gabriel Mountains. On this day Jerry drives us. The weather was perfect and the skies were blue.

Jerry and I have hiked many of the trails here over the years before we found birdwatching. The Manzanita Campground was unexplored territory. You might need a parking pass and you need to research where they are sold. To use a camp site you need to pre-pay for that too. W9 has an expression “too hard basket.”

On this day Lou met us and then took the vanguard....soon we were seeing the mountains from a new perspective. This campground would be closed until Spring the very next day. We stop and read the large signs with the rules and regulations. Scratching our heads we pile back into our SUVs. Lou heads up into the elevated campground, stops suddenly, and jumps out with motor running yelling in a loud whisper “quail.” His enthusiasm is contagious. Lewis’s Woodpeckers are flying overhead. The venue is new and exciting. The views are spectacular. We park at a campsite. There is a post tagged with expired permits flapping in the gentle breeze.

Since the little sandhill colts are still with us and we are able to photograph them I have had a very special time trying to capture the daily life of these little creatures. I do not believe I have ever had the opportunity to take so many images of a specific subject as I have these little guys but it has truly been awesome. I will miss them when it is time to move on.

Wishing you a lovely and blessed evening !

The Old Arcade in downtown Cleveland is one of the last buildings of it's kind remaining in the United States. Built in 1890, this Victorian styled architectural gem is a delight to photograph from a seemingly endless variety of vantage points.

Today, the building is home to the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Since we started feeding, every month a greater variety of birds visit our balcony.

This beautiful guy is visiting 2 times a day.

Panning is tough. Especially since these IndyCars go so fast.

I throw out more images than I keep, but it's fun trying to capture the visage of one of these giant angry mosquitoes.

I put my Canon 50D on a short length on my monopod. I settle it on a cement barrier, and then pick a point along the track to focus on. My AI Servo is selected so that the camera will continue to re-focus as I pan.

Got some awful shots, lots of fronthends, rearends, and massive blurs, but I got a few crystal images, too.

It's the timing of the car. Sort of like knowing when the sky will fill with fireworks after hearing the blast.

I got better at it. I am looking forward to practicing more tomorrow during the big IndyCar race.

Blessings,

Sheree

My extreme thanks to new Flickr friend, Adam Fick, for his great advice on lenses and panning technique. Check out his Indy images, too.

Katasraj temple is a Hindu temple situated in the Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan. Dedicated to Shiva, the temple has existed since the days of Mahābhārata and the Pandava brothers spent a substantial part of their exile at the site. The Pakistan Government is considering nominating the temple complex for World Heritage Site status. It also proposes to spend about Rs 20 million in three phases for the restoration of the complex.

Most of the temples, located some 40 km from the modern city of Chakwal in the Potohar region of northern Punjab in Pakistan, were built during the reign of Hindu kings. These several temples were built around 900 years ago or more, although the earliest of the Katasraj temples dates back to the latter half of the 6th century A.D. Scholars believe that most of the temples were actually constructed when the Shahi kingdom, driven from Afghanistan when their ethnic cousin Mahmud of Ghanavi came to power, fled to the region and set up base there.

The temple was abandoned by local Hindus when they migrated to East Punjab in 1947. It has always been the site of holy pilgrimage for people of various faiths. Even nowadays, worshippers from all faiths perform pilgrimages to the temple every year and bathe in the sacred pool around which Katasraj is built.

The Katas site houses the Satgraha, a group of seven ancient temples, remains of a Buddhist stupa, a few medieval temples, havelis and some recently constructed temples, scattered around a pond considered holy by Hindus. The temples at Katas are mostly constructed on square platforms. The elevation of the sub shrines seems to form a series of cornices with small rows of pillars, crowned by a ribbed dome.

The Ramachandra temple is situated to the east of the Hari Singh Haveli and is closed from all sides except for an entrance on the east. The double-storied structure has eight rooms of various dimensions on the ground floor and a staircase at the south leading to the first floor. The temple has two jharokas (balconies) that have been severely damaged.

The Hanuman temple is on the western extreme of a high rectangular enclosure with entrances on the south and the north. The temple's ceiling is undecorated, and lime-plastered. The Shiva temple is also built on a square platform. Its entrance is a recessed round arch with faint cusps and a rectangular opening to the north.

Katasraj temple complex is believed to date back to the Mahabharata era. There are stories about the Pandavas spending time there during their long exile. The lake in the complex is believed to have magical powers and supposed to be where Yudhisthira defeated the Yaksha with his wisdom to bring his brothers back to life.

Since the original song was first performed in German nearly 200 years ago, Silent Night or "Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!" has grown to be sung in over 300 different translations around the world.

Silent Night! Holy Night!

Brought the world gracious light,

Down from heaven's golden height...

By his love, by his might

God our Father us has graced,

As a brother gently embraced

Jesus, all nations on earth.

-from a German to English translation by Bettina Klein

Since this old car came to rest in this spot in Wyoming I doubt the view has changed much.

Since I couldn't get enough of Los Angeles last year, I decided to book a flight back out there for the end of March. Therefore, I figured it's only fitting that I went into my archives to post an image from my trip last year.

While I'll be spending less time in the city and doing more seascape work, I will try to squeeze at least one sunset or sunrise image of LA this time.

If you're like me and already have 10" of snow on the ground, I hope you're staying warm! I will have a new image to post soon once I'm able to process it.

Since retiring 4 years ago, i've barely picked up my camera except for the occasional trip somewhere. Well last night i finally had the motivation and time to try my hand at star trails again. i had a bit of a time trying to remember how to do some stuff with my camera, but eventually it came back to me.

i’ve wanted to do a star trail shot at our new home near martintown for quite a while - last night conditions were perfect for it - not much moon, clear skies.

the final result is the combination of 471 shots from 10pm to 2:18am taken in our back yard.

(manual, 30 second exposures, ISO 1250, f/5.0, set to infinity, some light painting on the chairs)

you might remember me from my old profile

Chrysler Turbine Cars were automobiles powered by gas turbine engines that the Chrysler Corporation assembled in a small plant in Detroit, Michigan, USA in 1963, for use in the only consumer test of gas turbine-powered cars. It was the high point of Chrysler's decades-long project to build a practical turbine-powered car.

Since Cryptid and the Wolves dragged me back to a med unit, I had been laying in bed, recovering. Several more attempts had been made on my life. The CO insisted that a guard be posted at the entrance of the med tent, but I didn't trust my life to some GI. I had begun sleeping with a knife under my pillow, and after more gas attacks, an oxygen tank. After the medics bandaged me up, I donned my armor once again. That too, I had begun sleeping in. I trusted no one, and was always wary. The flashbacks had stopped, possibly due to the intense stress I was under. Hopefully, it stayed that way. Man, I can't wait to get out in the field again, miles away from everything except those I trust. Anything would be better than this living hell I was in. Wait. What was that? There was a noise outside.

A masked face peered around the corner; I threw one of my knives. The face ducked back at the last second, as the knife ripped a hole in the far side of the tent. "Come on and finish it, you bastard!" i yelled, hatred and fury dripping from my voice. I heard the sound of rapidly retreating footsteps. Thus it went, night after night. I hardly slept anymore, with sounds from the camp waking me up, heart pounding. I could not live like this for long...

Several weeks later...

Finally, I was back in action. After several days of attacks, a trio of old Silent Wolves veterans stood vigil over me, switching off every few hours. I then had a chance to rest, feeling safe. The attacker didn't show up, given the presence of the armed men. And it paid off. Now, I was back on my feet , and preparing my belongings to leave the infirmary. I still had an ugly scar where the bullet penetrated, and the wound twinged every now and again. But I would be all right. I strapped on my armor, and threw on my pack. I gave it a quick, weight-settling jostle, and began to head out of the door. And then, I saw a grenade, standard USDF issue, minus the pin, roll towards my feet...

Since moving last summer, this is the view that I can enjoy from my office these days...

The old city hall is a half-timbered house in Hattingen. Since about 1420 the building was a covered market for the meat sale, establishes from Ruhr sandstone. In 1576 the building was increased by two floors in timber-framed building manner and was used as a city hall.

With a renovation at the end of the 18th century the building received big windows, the framework was plastered, the roof with the top gables was substituted with a hipped roof and the hall was altered by a passageway with prison cells. The passage connects the untermarket with the churchyard.

In 1910 the management moved in the new city hall in Roonstrasse. From 1932 a museum of local history, the today's town museum of Hattingen was in the house in Blankenstein.

In the post-war period one began with the restoration of the original state of the framework. The core was redeveloped under protection of the beam construction. The restoration works were finished in 1993. Today it accommodates the gallery of the art association.

Since its inception, the Kassel "documenta” has been the largest and also the most esteemed exhibition of contemporary art in the world

Since I found the lost folders I have been using some of the old originals to redo some of the pictures I especially like with new techniques... This Lighthouse was redone using Topaz Impression with the preset GEORGIA O'KEEFFE STYLE .. It seems to be just the right setting that some artist would want to paint it...

Since I can think these old trusted mountain peaks are looking down on me. I wonder what they would tell me if they could talk cause they have seen a lot since ancient times.

Since I haven't been able to go take photos , I was checking some of my old photos and I decided to upload this one, enjoy !!

Ever since I made my Weird War US Supersoldier, I've always wanted him to have some figures from other factions to go with him. I wanted to make a German soldier with aspects that were strictly World War-era (such as his Luger) and other aspects more futuristic (such as his armor, made possible by Richard's Future Gunner set - which you will all probably be pleased to know that I have run out of now :P). It was inspired jointly by Wolfenstein and Metro Last Light.

I hope you guys like the figure!

Ever since I remember myself

I have been child of the moon

so embrace me Luna

with your great light

I have your symbol

on my forehead

because I believe in you

I shall always follow your sight

you always with me

embrace me Luna

you brought her back to me

after prays to you

in many lonely nights

and now it still seems like a dream

a dream I don't want to wake up from

so thank you mother Luna

I shall always be your child

I am child of the moon
