Taco Sal has been on the corner of Eubank and Menaul for as long as I can remember. Their New Mexican food is homemade right down to the fresh pinto beans made daily to their hot New Mexico green chile and they have the most delicious sopapillas. Yum-0.

Weather update:
A large high pressure area was over the western U.S. at this time and was to hold there for the next week or so. Clouds were being pulled northward into California. These mid to high level clouds had made for an amazing sunset this evening over my area though. By Saturday and Sunday, the state was to be partly cloudy with isolated t-storms over the foothills and mountains. By Monday and all of next week, the high was still to be over the western U.S. Weather conditions would continue to be mostly sunny with temps above normal. Summer was surely here!

Las Vegas, colloquially referred to as Vegas, is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada and the seat of Clark County. Since the water is expected to rise well above the 37 feet we expected we had to hitch a ride to move more things to higher ground.
Since the beginning of this project I had in mind to make my own version of the “ Vitruvian Man” by Da Vinci with my daughter’s barbie dolls...(I was quite ambicius)... so with my big book of White Pages, glue and some magazines I started to cover the doll (there were two initially) thinking that her body should look sober, strict, without curves; providing balance to the arms with a crucial symbology : The bird and the flower, that represent the relation between woman and nature, her human condition and at the same time the possibility to rise the female condition into a magical world, that's the reason why the hair is pointing at the sky (or that was the idea) . The woman is standing over a colourful floor that I made knitting magazine pages.
Since I bought Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 I was desperate to try this lens out. Last week Happened to go to PALM Jumeirah nd tried few shots. I am really happy with this lens. Tac Sharp and fantastic for anyone who ought to take landscapes.
It's been awhile since I photographed her (since this past April; those set of photos I forgot to upload here and will get on that).

Since carousel horses are meant to be viewed from one side or the other, we don't often take the time to enjoy their faces straight on. The discolored linseed oil has been removed from the horse's plain side, and it couldn't look more pleased!

I wanted to try something new tonight. I put my Manfrotto 190XB tripod in the passenger seat of my car, and set my D90 to be triggered by the wireless remote. I decided to leave the camera in aperture priority since I had no real idea of how long to leave the shutter open. Nikon 50mm f/1.8D @ f/5.6
I did learn that it helps to have a shorter shutter speed and a smooth road. I need to work on getting better focus.

A 2002 session by percussionist Francisco Aguabella, a fixture on New York's expatriate Cuban music scene since the late '50s, Cubacan is refreshingly free of the Buena Vista Social Club cash-ins that marred so many Afro-Cuban jazz records of the late '90s and early 2000s. Instead, Aguabella concentrates on his own conga-led Latin jazz, with emphasis on the latter. The set list includes no fewer than three of Dizzy Gillespie's Latin compositions -- "Fiesta Mojo," "Dreaming," and "Tin Tin Deo" (actually a co-composition with the legendary Cuban congero Chano Pozo) -- as well as two standards given the Aguabella touch, "My Favorite Things" (a restrained version which owes little to Coltrane's famous reworking) and "Autumn Leaves" (given a more successful, almost bossa nova tinge). The heart and soul of the album, however, is in the two tracks dedicated to Aguabella's friend and mentor, Tito Puente. The reflective "El Agua Limpia Todo" is a lovely ballad that Aguabella had written in the '50s at Puente's behest, but the rollicking "Mambo for Puente" is a joyous celebration, remembering the bandleader with the passion with which that he lived and played. Nearing his seventies, Aguabella plays with the vitality of a man less than half his age, and the all-star band supports him perfectly. This is a remarkable album.

Since we completed our first 365 together, Alicia and I have decided to keep it going and start another one! It became part of our everyday together and we continue to be inspired by one another.
This was a quick shot on the way home from Yosemite. We had actually seen this tree on the way up and were bummed that we didn't stop. We got lucky and the cows were hanging out at the tree for our return trip.

Ive not done much portrait work since I took up this somewhat additive hobby, but today a friend asked me to do a couple of shots of her daughter, not an easy task without the proper lens or studio lighting and equipment, but we made do, and with such a naturally pretty little girl, whos a complete natural in front of the camera, it wasnt difficult getting a few nice shots.....mum went for this, which is the black and white version of the original, and the "Andy Warhol' version below, it was really good to try something different :o)
Can anyone advise what I might have done wrong to get so much 'noise' on this? :o/
Since its humble beginnings a century ago, Howe was expanded in 1925, 1951, 1957 and again this year when a brand new gym opened. Yesterday’s open house was a come one, come all opportunity to see how the school’s grown.
And come they did.
Alums and other centennial celebrants packed the parking lot and the hallways. There were a deejay and dancing in the gym, cookies in the cafeteria and old yearbooks and other memorabilia in the library, named for one of the district’s first “bus” drivers, John Alder, who delivered students to Howe in a horse-drawn wagon in the 1920s, tutoring them, too, along the way.

After spending 2 days in Venice, this is the only female Gondolier we saw. Since the beginnings of gondoliering in 1094, there has never been a female and foreigners are also frowned upon. The first lady to break through was a German women in 2007 after a 10 year struggle and court battle. The city hall challenged the ruling but apparently didn't win.
