Since I’m behind on posting these imma post them unedited.😬

Since I was traveling with the baby in Spain it was hard getting out during golden and blue hour to shoot. I managed a few evenings, one of them in Madrid.

This was shot at the Plaza de la Independencia near the Parque del Buen Retiro. Not the most ideal sky, but fun nonetheless.

Ever since I saw this barn (in my hometown Wayanad), I always wanted to photograph it. But, my photos would never turn this amazing scene into what I wanted. Hence, this experiment with multiple exposure HDR.

Since it was impossible to get access to the grain storage, this was taken with a digital camera Fuji X-T20.

If you like my work and wanna show it by inviting me to one of your groups, you are very welcome to do that, but please do not leave any graphic logos! I'll delete them.

Sometimes thinking about preservation and heritage of the city is not enough.

These are some disappearing surroundings...

Well since you guys just Love My night shots! LOL!, and since the previous shots I did here a about 3 weeks ago: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/46184287402/, was well received, and since people had previously asked me, this Excel Bus is for the foot passengers going to the Ferries and was loading up at about 18:30PM for what I belive maybe the last foot passenger sailing of the day in winter.

And be sure to check by my other acount: www.flickr.com/photos_user.gne?path=&nsid=77145939%40..., to see what else I saw Last Week!!

Yes I'm back again.

However due to my main computer on which I edit my work being struck down with a big bad virus, this picture and all the others I am uploading, were Unedited but have now been replaced with Edited versions. So enjoy and Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I do still hate everything about this shit that is new Flickr and always will, but an inability to find another outlet for my work that is as easy for me to use as the Old BETTER Flickr was, has forced me back to Flickr, even though it goes against everything I believe in.

I don't generally have an opinion on my own work, I prefer to leave that to other people and so based on the positive responses to my work from the various friends I had made on Flickr prior to the changes I have decided to upload some more of my work as an experiment and to see what happens.

So make the most of me before they delete my acount: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/?details=1, to stop me complaining!!

Exploring area around North Train Station, Chengdu, Sichuan

Berowald Innes had had a lot of time to think as he walked. After all it had been a long journey since he left his ship on the south coast, run up on the shingle beach before it could sink with a large hole in the bow. He knew it had been foolhardy to see how far he could sail with his eyes shut. But that was the sort of idiotic thing he did when he was young, as a means of establishing how far he could push the limits when he was exploring the world. It was a crazy idea. His inertial sense of direction was not as good as he thought it might be. He had lots of mad ideas at that age, and the excitement of self-discovery was irresistible to him.

But now it seemed he had been walking north for so long, seemingly almost back to the start of time and dinosaurs, he thought. Yet he knew the year was 1160. Even now more random thoughts fed through his head as he ambled along the rough path through the Secret Valley. He always hated walking on limestone, unless it was finely crushed. But here it was the lumps of white rock you find that had been eroded from the landscape above him and had rolled and washed into the bottom of the deepening ravine where he trod. In parts the path had become a stream, rainwater and snow melt funnelled into the vee of the valley and he cursed as he tripped and stumbled on the uneven stones, slipping on the edges worn smooth by the feet of passing traveller’s, horses and cattle. Now it was drizzling too, making him cold and damp. And to add to his woes the cheap cape and boots he had bought in Rocester further down the Limestone Way were already falling apart. The trader had promised the boots were waterproof but already his feet were cold and wet, and the rabbit skin pelt around the hood was falling apart. Each time the wind blew the side of the hood against his cheek bits of the poorly tanned fur stuck to the moisture of his mouth leaving him spitting and wiping at his lips to remove the soft hairs. Again he chided himself. The woman who saw him haggling over the items with the stall owner in the market had rudely interjected that the products were shit and he shouldn’t hand over any money. But, as he tripped over another lump of limestone, he admitted to himself he had foolishly ignored her advice. Thank god she wasn’t around to see herself proven right. But why did he always think he knew better?

He had almost forgotten about the small grey mutt that tracked him. She had been tracing a path higher up the slope, parallel to him up on the right hand, snout to the ground as she sought scents, but suddenly he heard her sharp bark. It pulled his mind back to the here and now and he raised his eyes to focus on the route ahead to see what made her shout her warning to him. The little schnauzer had spotted a group of five wild ponies, long manes and tails waving in the wind. Their heads were erect, looking towards him. Stood proudly at the front, in defence of the group, stood a magnificent white stallion. Behind, a beautiful white mare peered over his shoulders whilst two brown and one grey female stood gathered behind.

The sight of them took him by surprise. He had walked hundreds of miles and his feet were weary. His knees ached. And he so badly wanted to bathe in piping hot water and have a close shave. He deserved a rest. But now he was in a remote valley, and ….he swivelled round, eyes scanning the skyline to check for anyone else....he could grab one of the ponies and save his legs. But first he needed to consult where he was. You could very quickly find yourself hanged, drawn and quartered if convicted of stealing some lord's animals, so he better check who they might belong to first. Rooting around under his coat he felt the folded parchment and pulled out the battered old Anglo Saxon map. It was ancient and filthy and hadn't been updated with the latest castles, roads and walls but his index finger soon traced the line between Rocester (or Rowcestre as the old monks still referred to it as) and the Norman tower at Castleton. Something in the back of his mind reminded him these were the lands of the baron, William Peveril the Younger. And these would be his ponies he surmised. Yes, reading the landscape in relation to the map in his hands, he reckoned he was about to enter Cave Dale and soon he should see Peveril Castle below.

"OK!", he thought. "My feet are hurting so much on these blasted chunks of limestone, I shall take a pony and if confronted say that I am borrowing it to rest my feet until we get across to Lose Hill and there I shall set it free again, still in Peveril's lands. But of course if I get as far as Lose Hill I shall keep the mare until I reach my journey's end in Morayshire, more than 500 miles to the north. But,...…. hey-ho! Still seeing what I can get away with!", he thought. "Incorrigible. Or just downright baaaad!"

But surely he couldn't get into too much trouble anyway? He had stopped to chat to travellers coming the opposite way last evening and heard that King Malcolm IV of Scotland had just stayed at Peveril castle a few days earlier. And lo and behold it was only the same great man that had bestowed the Lands of Innes on himself, Berowald!!! He had never met the king himself but the Royal Charter had reached him when he put his ship into port in Flanders. It was his reward for his prowess shown in sea battles against troublesome French forces in the Bay of Biscay. And now he had a title! "Yay! Berowald!! The first Innes of Innes! But first he had to travel to the north of Scotland to take up his title and oversee his lands. At this rate it might take him a month!

He decided. Looking directly to the stallion he connected eye to eye, and after a pause moved quietly and confidently towards him. The pony stood stock still until Berowald suddenly leapt to grab a firm hold of his mane. He bolted immediately rushing to go by his left side but it was exactly the move Berowald wanted to help swing him up onto the ponies back. But he turned and raced downhill into the gorge of Cave Dale. Woah, what a mad ride, terrifying as the pony cantered down the rough path of limestone chunks, with no reins, saddle or stirrups to keep him on the pony but once again he did that crazy thing and closed his eyes, just knowing this could only end in disaster.

It might have lasted ten seconds, perhaps twenty, may be even thirty. It made no difference. The pain came just as suddenly. He tried to read the ponies direction through his knees, feel the shifting forces, adjust his centre of gravity but he knew he had lost the fight when he suddenly became weightless and wondered briefly how great the agony would be. Or would he just slowly fade after some body breaking impact and never................

He crashed hard, the air of life crushed out of him. He could not breathe, his body in spasm from the collision with the ground. He gasped for breath but his diaphram would not allow air to enter his lungs as he rolled on the cold wet grass bank fighting to draw breath. It came eventually as he overcame the feeling of dying and he was able to look around and take stock of his situation. He felt sore especially through his ribcage but testing his arms and legs he was relieved to find nothing seemed to be broken. However his head was muzzy and putting his hand on his scalp brought a sharp pain and left blood on his fingers. But he saw the white stallion stood further down Cave Dale and his dog trotted over to nuzzle her whiskers on his face and check he was still alive.

Gradually he sat up. And then he heard laughter from above and behind him. He looked round and up, eyes rising up the cliff face and then onto the stone walls of the Norman castle. Three faces peered down from the crenelated top. And a raucous feminine voice yelled out. "Ha! Ye try an' steal my ride, ye bastard!" in a most uncouth manner. "Who the feck are ye?"

Berowald was most taken aback. "Well....well...." he stammered. " I am....I am Berowald. First Innes of the Inneses and baron of the lands of Morayshire". And gathering some fortitude, retorted in a style he thought she might understand,, "And who the feck are ye?"

Well, she scowled down at him, "I am the porter of this castle and I have two watchmen here, and I saw ye try to steal my horse, for which I shall punish thee, ye entitled bastard baron!" And with that the faces disappeared from the castle top.

Shaken from his fall off the steed and bewildered by the strange challenge from above he started to stagger unsteadily back to the path through Cave Dale, below the castle.

But once again he was surprised to hear a shout from behind, and turning saw to his horror, the three from the castle running down the slope full tilt towards him. Between the two burly looking henchmen he now saw the female porter, somewhat weird with her minxy little figure, rushing, screaming and spitting entitled, class hatred obscenities at him. He recoiled as the big men grabbed his arms and held him fast as the toxic female confronted him face to face. "So, I have my next victim!" she cawed like a banshee."Take him to the tower!"

His feet barely touched the ground as the henchmen gripped him from either side and forcibly took him up the slope. Resistance was futile and even if he broke away he reckoned the female porter following behind would wrestle him to the floor. He had noted her well toned build and strong shoulders and, whilst an intereeesting thought, wasn't sure he could beat her in a grapple on the ground.

Once through the castle doors he was pushed towards the spiral staircase and a couple of firm hands between his shoulder blades propelled him upwards. Berowald assumed he was being taken to the upper halls but at each level he was shoved onto the next upward spiralling staircase until they arrived out on the top of the tower overlooking Cave Dale and the surrounding Hope Valley. He saw the white stallion far below and his little grey dog howled and yelped, abandoned below the castle walls Turning to face his captors he tried to read the situation, and didn't give much thought to the contraption positioned out over one corner of the square tower. 'She' arrived on the tower top and he backed away, until he could retreat no more, up against the wall surrounding the castle top. she had a smile on her face which he found unnerving. She had power. She knew she was in control. He was at her mercy.

She didn't even speak before the two thugs she called watchmen, stepped forward and clasped their hands around his arms and walked him across to the other corner of the tower: the one upon which the contraption sat. It was constructed out of wood, laths of beech and thin sheets of board. It had a few wrought iron parts but was largely help together with leather bonds, an assembly of heavy duty kites. One of the watchmen reached to stand the contraption vertical on its tail, pushing the baron back against it. He had no idea what was happening, transfixed by the threatening stance of the female porter in front of him, so that it was too late when he realised his wrists were quickly tied with leather thongs to the strange contraption. And when they bent to tie his ankles and bind his thighs to it he looked down and around with increasing fear to work out what sort of torture she had planned for him.

"Ha!" she cackled. "Ye, steal my horse. And now ye shall pay! Marko, face the plank out over the edge" And with that Marko and the other watchman flipped the contraption round so that it, with Berowald fixed to its underside hung out off the highest part of the castle. Fear turned to terror, as he saw the rocks and ground below .

"Nooooo!" he howled. "What do you want? I didn't steal your horse. Please! Please, don't hurt me! Please tell me what you want!"

"Haha!" she cackled yet again, " I want to play with thee, my little guinea pig! Marko, …..Anders.... Ready???..... On my order, push him off the wall!"

"Push!!" she yelled!!

Berowald, 1st Innes of Innes did all he could do and screwed his eyes shut. He whimpered and screamed "Noooooo!" as he felt the board tilt forwards and down and then a rush of wind. He flailed with his arms and legs, fighting against the bindings that held him to the construction. They gave a bit but all that happened was that the boards hinged and flapped, faster as he became more frantic in the few seconds before he was dashed on the rocks below.

But he wriggled and fought, kicked and flapped with more strength than he thought he could ever muster and awaited the final impact that would crush all life from his body. But, but he kicked out, legs and knees getting tired, flapped, shoulders and elbows stretched and torn with pain, but no life ending crash. Not this second or the next.

Sheer terror forced his firmly closed eyes open......ground below, speeding forward, a racket of flapping panels and boards about him, a white pony, small against the gorge, a little grey dog running along to keep up, small houses, a town below...Oh my Lord!!! He was flying like a bird!!!! And looking back towards the castle through the thrash of his flapping arms and legs he saw the female porter standing on the top of the fortress tower, a huge beaming smile on her face.

He crash landed for the second time in the last hour in a muddy field beyond Castleton. He was so relieved to be alive and even without any serious injury that it was some time before Berowald, 1st Innes of Innes and baron of the lands of Morayshire, appreciated that he had become the first man to fly and survive. Icarus had failed when he flew too close to the sun, and his wings made of wax, melted. But Berowald made his mark in history a full 743 years before the Wright Brothers.

OK, then, that was a load of shit. But some of it is factually correct.

Since this photo was taken in May, several storms have lashed Sunset Beach. The rapid wave erosion bites within a metre and a half of the actual building, the dunes and art fence have gone as is the gate and fence seen middle and right. All of the lower carpark has now gone and the upper car park has has been fenced off to the corner of the community hall, upper RH, its size reduced by a third, following last weekend's storm.

The surf tower has yet again to be moved to a more secure site within a few days...unless this weekend's westerly storm has managed to erode more.

For more visual information see other images of the shifting position of the surf tower and erosion in this album.

Been over 20 years since I have partaken of the dead.

However, now and again I look in a window and think.... mmmm..... meaty!

Since my Canon external flash won't work on my Sony camera, I set a really narrow aperture, f/40, and a 5 second exposure. I then fired the flash manually at full power with the test button while the camera was on a tripod.

Since yesterday morning I am back from my diving trip. I had a wonderful week and it was a lot of fun. Right now I have to clean up all my stuff and get it dry. I also have to check all the pictures I have taken which will take some time. Meanwhile I will show you some more pictures from my vacancy at Greetsiel :)

Since Virginia was asking which wooden stamp we'd take on a paradise island, I thought I'd make a card with one of my favorite wooden stamps, the Newspaper Tulips. :) Actually I love the Old Writing wooden stamp that I used for the bg too.

Its been a while since I've posted any pictures of my (our) Lego building studio.

Last year, the room was completely renovated. Originally, the room was built as part of a house extension in 1985 to enclose a hot tub and shower. Since owning the house, we used the hot tub only a few years until we shut it down and converted the room into a playroom. The playroom then evolved into a family Lego studio. During this time, we built storage and work spaces around the hot tub. This of course resulted in inefficient use of space and inconvenient accessibility.

Finally, in 2018 we embarked on a much needed renovation. This involved removal of the hot tub and infrastructure, followed by new floor joists and framing. The shower was converted into a storage closet and the entire room received new tiled floor with under floor heating system.

Of the best attributes of this studio is abundant natural light emanating from large floor to ceiling windows and three overhead skylights. For nighttime use, the room is illuminated from ceiling mounted track lighting and a series of adjustable gooseneck LED worklights fitted along the entire length of the work spaces.

Lastly, a custom centre island was constructed from 2x Ikea Kalax storage units. The units were bolted together, a table top surface was installed (with bullnose edges) and heavy duty castor wheels were fitted to the bottom. This centre island not only incorporates integrated storage but serves as an immensely useful worksurface for staging models, sorting parts, or collaboration.

Storage and parts organization is a topic for another day. Suffice to say, we use Ikea Trofast drawers for bulk parts storage of major colours. We use wall mounted Kalax units (not shown) for less used colours, the island Kalax units store monochrome colour detail parts (e.g. slopes, round bricks, etc.), and finally the workspaces are completely surrounded by many 100's of small parts bins organized by part type and also colour if applicable. All storage is labelled using custom python software scripts which generate part thumbnails, part descriptions etc. and automatically lays out label graphics for a variety of Avery brand label sheets of different sizes.

It is a wonderful space to spend time being creative and having fun! Now I just need time to enjoy it!

Since I’m greedy I wish we had seen more wild elephants, but it was a pleasure to see this one after seeing so many captives saddled for the tourist trade. A wild Asian elephant at Kui Buri National Park, Thailand.

Since it was cloudy all day and I had to do my grocery shopping I hadn’t planned on painting after work today. Fortunately by the time I left it had cleared so I stopped and did this quick 5x7 painting. Now it’s time to dig into some of that fresh food!

Since taking up full-frame photography, I have found the Canon 35mm F2.0 IS USM to be a great all purpose lens. View other shots taken with this lens here.

This thing doesn't really have a name, but since the end of 2018 I've taken to making one of these montages for uploading on the last day of the year, where I pick one photo I've taken each month that is at least partly relevant to some kind of event that occurred with buses in Nottingham or Lincoln in the past year. This time around it's almost exclusively Nottingham, with Lincoln just getting in on a technicality. And, obviously, more than just twelve things happened this year, so what I've got here is by no means covering everything.

First up in January is the Centrebus 19 from Melton Mowbray to Nottingham; a sight that won't be seen anymore as the route was withdrawn in the spring and Centrebus no longer serve Nottingham. A far cry from when the 19 was the lengthy 'Five Counties' route stretching all the way from Nottingham to Peterborough! This ended up being the last 19 I saw (I narrowly missed seeing the last ever one, sadly), and MCV bodied B8RLE 632 is pictured on Arkwright Street.

This year has seen some very prominent vehicle types in the NCT fleet get reduced down to small numbers. The 33 seat Enviro 200s were heavily culled once the old Network brown and purple routes were steadily transitioned over to double deckers, with most leaving the fleet without ever receiving the current livery. The original fleet of twenty two has been reduced down to just four, with two in use as driver trainers, one in sky blue line livery and one in spare livery. 372, one of the withdrawn vehicles, is seen on the 15th of February while still in service with NCT.

N230UD Omnidekkas have also gone the same way as the E200s, with numbers being whittled down over the course of the year, so that as I'm writing this, only the navy 4s and a couple of spares remain. This photo of 997, on Mansfield Road with a 58 on 28.3.22, doubles up to show the revised branding that was applied to many vehicles around that time. Service levels had just been scaled back slightly, resulting in more routes interworking, and brown, lilac, orange, lime and purple line buses received common branding for multiple routes. This resulted in the 58 regaining branded Omnidekkas, albeit briefly, after having E400s and then E400 Cities since 2014.

2022 really has been the year of things disappearing, whether it be routes or vehicles. After using them extensively on the Medilink, CT4N sold off their Optare Tempos, but as well as those, most of the City Council electric buses that were new around 2012/3/4 have gone. Some have moved to 2nd owners, but most seem to have gone on the scrapheap, because their batteries became life-expired. The last time I saw one of the blue Solo EVs was back in April, when 990 was passing City Hospital here with an L14.

One thing we've done well for this year is NCT E400s in special liveries, because there have been loads. Some are advertising wraps, while others like 660 here were liveries by NCT themselves to celebrate different things. 603 is the Pride bus, 627 has 125 Years of Public Ownership, and 660 was celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. It's since been changed to be in Honour of HM The Queen, and I coincidentally saw it this morning on the 36, but here is 660 in its original guise, with a 17 on the 7th of May.

June, with all its Bank Holidays, was the month of the 20; TrentBarton's Sunday (and Bank Holiday) combination of the Mon-Sat 18 and 21, even though the 18 is in the hands of CT4N nowadays. However, neither the 21 or the 20 lasted until the end of the year as both were withdrawn in October as part of TrentBarton's recast of their network around Ilkeston. On a bright and sunny 3rd of June, Solo 473 is seen in Chilwell with a 20, unusually operating on a Friday thanks to the extra Jubilee Bank Holidays.

Bit by bit, TrentBarton are still phasing out their Wright Solar bodied Scania L94UBs. Although Trent haven't bought any new buses in a couple of years, buses released by service reductions have displaced a few Scanias, and the number of operational examples has shrunk to just four. Gone now are the temporary spares in their ex-Sixes yellow colour, such as 659 in this photo. It is on Hucknall Road on the 23rd of July, working route 141; another thing that TrentBarton have given up.

The long-awaited final batch of biogas buses for NCT began to enter service in August, with the first being the orange line examples. All but one arrived with '22' registrations (one is a '71') after delays set back their introduction by a few months. Here is 526 on Angel Row, with a 35 to Bulwell on the 28th of August.

With TrentBarton withdrawing the 141 commercially, it became a Nottinghamshire County Council contracted route, running for a one-year pilot. Stagecoach now run it, almost exclusively providing Enviro 200s with nicely programmed destination blinds for the route. Up in Hucknall, 37002 is part way through its journey from Mansfield to Nottingham on 14.9.22

Sticking with Stagecoach and the theme of Mansfield to Nottingham, here's a Pronto for October. However, it's one of three Pronto buses which have been exiled to Lincoln for the majority of this year. The rest of Lincoln's bus happenings have just been vehicle transfers and some repaints, which aren't unique to 2022 and only the Pronto liveried ones seemed interesting enough to include - plus they have that connection to Nottingham for something titled Nottingham's Buses 2022. 10972 is on Oxford Street, Lincoln, with a 3 on 15.10.22

The new Broadmarsh bus station fully opened in the autumn, and I had my first look at the buses using it in November. After five years of building work, Nottingham has two city centre bus stations again. Also in this photo is Kinchbus 9, showing another Wellglade operator ditching its Wright Solars. The 9 has run with L94UBs for as long as I've known it, but now it's in the hands of branded Mercedes Citaros and, in this particular instance, a Solo SR as a stopgap measure while the Mercs were prepared. Kinch 501 is departing Broadmarsh on 12.11.22

December's picture shows a Marshalls 90 being run by a double decker, which isn't anything old, new or unique to this year. It is, though, rather indicative of the times with ongoing rail strikes disrupting train services on pretty much a weekly basis, and Marshalls tend to put at least one decker on the 90 on strike days. With the number of strike days soaring, so have the appearances of double decker 90s, and here on Carrington Street was my 'rail replacement' from Newark to Nottingham, with Trident DD106 on the 3rd of December.

So, that's your lot. Another year, and a rather grim one for the public transport industry at that, with the driver shortages and all. In last year's one of these I mentioned Stagecoach being sold to NatEx at the end, but that didn't end up happening and now they're owned by some investment firm. Going into 2023, there's the £2 single fare price cap scheme which might bring some positives, although I reckon there will be more service cuts at some point. Going for some wild predictions, I'm going to guess the 141 will end and get partly replaced by a Nottsbus connect route, and TrentBarton will order a small number of new buses for a single route (The Keyworth, perhaps?), freeing up a few B7RLEs just to see off the last Solars and give themselves a couple more spare saloons.

Hope you have a happy new year, anyway, whatever you get up to during 2023 :)

Since January 1st 2010, I have been taking and uploading one square picture each day.

Each month I make a 5x5 mosaic, so a few images will be dropped to leave a nice neat 25.

Ever since the daily Selkirk-Framingham manifest Q436 switched to a later schedule, it's been the most popular train on the old Boston & Albany. This is now the only road freight that runs east of Worcester, a far cry from the Conrail days. Nowadays, the line is used primarily for commuter rail to and from Boston. I had some time on New Year's Day to try my luck, ultimately deciding on the abandoned overpass at Fisher Street, Westboro, right around milepost 34. The train was a little later than I would have liked, having been held by the Keolis dispatcher back at Worcester, but the shot still worked out satisfactorily.

Since the whole COVID-19 lockdown has really prevented us from going anywhere, our family has been taking a good number of long walks around town. One of our more favorite walks was around the Seacrest Arboretum a couple weeks ago. The arboretum has a large variety of crabapple trees that bloom an amazing array of colors. Normally, I guess I don't stop to look around enough because we've lived here for 7 years and only this year did I notice the amazing variety of these trees.

This image was made with a ZeroImage2000 pinhole camera on Kodak Portra 160. This was about a 10 second exposure I think. Developed and scanned by TheFINDLab.

Since 1635, the Inuyama Festival has been held as a religious celebration at the Haritsuna Shrine.

13 enormous antique floats, standing up to 3 stories tall, navigate their way through the streets during this festival. The Inuyama Festival is registered as an important intangible fold cultural property and as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event.

Since the end of 2015 it can legally be used for graffiti art.
