I was not even looking at the plate when this happened. I was reading while gathering together the flaky pieces from a wheat cereal bar spread with treacle which I had been eating. Had a happy surprise when I saw an "angel"?" Chinese dancer?" left on the plate.

During my last two trips to New York, I had for some reason visited the Manhattan end of the Queensboro Bridge, and on both occasions I've passed by the Serendipity III Restaurant & General Store.

The famous place was made more so by a 2001 romcom (romatic comedy) named Serendipity, featuring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale.

I had been to Goa before few times before. It was always fun, but most beaches were always packed with tourists and locals. I used to dream of finding beaches where there would be no one but just me!

This time, I took matters into my own hands - got Goa's map and started scouting for those kind of beaches. I had asked couple of people about such beaches and they told me that I could not find such a place in Goa, because these days everything had become too commercialized.

But I still had hope.

Then someone tipped me about some beaches to the North of Goa. I had never been to the North side and wanted to explore. So I packed my camera gear and a map and headed North at 8 am - pretty early to be going to a beach! But again I thought that would work in my favor because less people would frequent beaches at that time.

On the way to Morgim beach, which is the first beach in North Goa, I couldn't help but notice turquoise water to the left. It wasn't Morgim beach where people go but it sure seemed interesting enough as I saw a blue boat docked to the shore. Also it looked like the whole place was abandoned.

I parked my bike in the shade and moments later found myself looking at this beautiful sight. It was somewhat like a piece of memory from my dream - a beautiful beach all to myself. And this was just the beginning. As the day progressed, I hopped to few other beaches which were equally beautiful and there was almost no one around. The heat all day was pretty intense and getting tanned was inevitable. But everything was worth it when I returned home and looked at the photographs.

Thoughts become things!

After our morning drive to Enix and Felix and great mountain views we've decided to go and see the sunset by the Mediterranean Sea. What a spectacle that was, even without cumulus clouds that would make it more interesting. The sound of the waves hitting the beach always makes me relax and open my senses. One can completely forget ones worries and just give oneself to Mother Nature and let her do what she pleases.. It is SUCH a pity I don't have a beach near by...

While shooting a video for our environmental science subject, my group found this empty lot near my friend's house. It was actually the first time I've been to some empty place filled with cow dung and different kinds of plants. It was a fun experience trying to dodge all the cow poop and finally seeing a bit more of nature for the first time. I've been longing to get to some place closer to nature and this little trip sort of quenched my thirst.

Anyway, I can't really edit this photo well because my computer is at its almost-dying state. :( I really can't use photoshop for more than 30 mins because whenever I do, my computer just keeps on dying. So although this is not how I want this photo to look like, it will do for now. It's sort of a candid shot anyway, so yeah. Haha, thanks to my group mate, Aerenz for being my model even though she doesn't know it. :)

There is an element of serendipity to light leaks. They may be highly irritating ... or sometimes they blend in with the rest of the image. These three persons walking in front of me were out of focus anyway, but the atmosphere of light flirtation is still retained...

A photograph of some colorful things.

This is just about color… unless you want to make it about something else. Such a photograph could be intentional (to the extent that photographs are “intentional” — read the second paragraph), but the level of serendipity in this one is high, hence the title.

There’s an odd idea that photographs are objective records — but that’s clearly not true. Even in cases where some sort of evidentiary standard is followed, decisions about aspects of what gets recorded and how it gets recorded are subjective. And beyond that limited use for photographs, once we get into the realm of images that are intended to express something, photographs are often far from objective records. One of my favorite expressions: “All photographs lie.” (I could refine that a bit, but there’s not space in this post.)

G Dan Mitchell is a California photographer and visual opportunist. His book, “California’s Fall Color: A Photographer’s Guide to Autumn in the Sierra” is available from Heyday Books, Amazon, and directly from G Dan Mitchell.

To be honest, this shot was all about trying to line up the frame of the waterway gate with the water coursing behind it. But the angles were all wrong.

But the little frog sitting on his perch seemed to be worth making this panorama.

At present I'm jobless!

This morning I went to the convocation of the teachers to choose the place in Tuscany (as all the other teachers do in Italy in every region every year at the end of august when they don't have yet a permanent contract from the Ministry of Education -like me) and I ( and many other colleagues) discovered that this year the Ministry cut more than half of the available positions comparing to last years. So a lot of people became jobless!

Just because I was the first jobless of the list, when all the other available positions were chosen by teacher before me in the list, I have the highest chances to be called in the next weeks for some position, which will be probably added later.

What to say?

This is the crisis. I decided not to worry, to wait and see what happens.

Perhaps it's a sign of destiny telling me my life will go in other directions.

Everything became temporary, actually life itself is temporary (!) and I decided long time ago to adapt myself to this state of affairs!

I took this shot yesterday during my trip on the Salerno -Reggio Calabria (italians know what I'm talking about): an highway where there are more interruptions that free stretch of road, with works that are going on for at least 20 years and where, going slower than a turtle, you can take a lot of shots like this because at least the view is wonderful!!! :)))

It was then that she realises that perhaps, something beyond her quixotic instincts and shabby mishaps was bringing her towards something spectacular, entirely unexpected;

that there was perhaps an ineffable reason behind that which drew her, entranced all in her sphere;

and all in their imperfections were nothing short of wondrous, still, even if they were no more than a vision or a whim in passing.

A wonderful afternoon spent in the Dorset Wildlife Trust reserve on Brownsea Island included several serendipitous, close and prolonged encounters with Red Squirrels. See also: www.flickr.com/photos/stevejm2009/4717899599/

Wandering the backroads this morning when we saw a lady frantically waving from the side of the road. I stopped, she said "have you seen the sunflowers?" (frantically pointing over her shoulder).

In truth I would have driven right by. Thank you Margaret-Ann for pointing the way !

Having spent 10 minutes with camera trying to get the perfect shot I put away the camera, thought I'd take one on the phone to send home and these two kids run across at the perfect time....

Life is made of plenty moments, bad ones as good ones, and I kind of enjoy the way things are guiding you in the end.

You are where you have to be, sure life is made of choices, but in a way I believe things happen for a reason, those sort of coincidences between life and what you choose to do about it.

I'm feeling so much better now, and this little trip in England made me feel even better. And here's my point, that even if I felt bad at first, things took me here in the end, this succession of events that leaded me here, and I'm finally glad to see what I became.

Sure I never felt great about all what I did in the past, and I'll never feel good about it, but what's done is done now.

Have a great day! Xx

So far, my 2014 has had its share of coyote sightings. In Yellowstone NP we had daily sightings, multiple numbers at a time mostly. I found them to be quite fascinating, as they so alertly crossed the landscape, in search of their next meal.

In February, I had the opportunity to travel to Salt Lake City, as my family was out there on a snowboarding trip. I willingly agreed to make the trip, with the condition that I could do some wildlife shooting out there as well. :-)

The very first day I was there, I ventured out to Antelope Island State Park, just a bit NW of SLC. It has long been a favorite of mine, though admittedly I have been there and not seen too much wildlife. Well, we didn't even get onto the island before the wildlife sightings started.... first with some hunting northern harriers, then immediately upon reaching land, we saw our first coyote. By the end of the day, we saw probably at least 8 different coyotes, many paired up and a few who were hunting in a group of 3. We saw that group chasing some of the mule deer on the island ... it was quite a frantic chase. First the deer racing around, followed by the trio of coyotes in hot pursuit. Before long, we saw the trio down by the frozen waters edge tearing into a fresh kill. Not sure what it was, eventually we saw one carry off an entire leg, then knowing that it was one of the mule deer. I personally don't like to see that kind of stuff (yes, I know that it happens and is natural in nature, but I don't have to like it). It was however fascinating watching the behavior of the trio as they were tearing into the kill and chasing off other single coyotes in the area. Bison, pronghorn, porcupines, owls, other birds, were a few of the species that we photographed while there.

As the day began to give way to dusk, we started our journey back off the island. I happened to notice in the rear view mirror that the sunset was incredibly beautiful, but I had a car full of hungry family members, so I decided that Tom should just pull over so I could get a quick iPhone shot (which coincidently is usually not that bad for sunsets). He complied and I jumped out with my phone. You know how you get that feeling that you're not alone? Well I had one of those and surveyed my nearby surroundings. I found that within my immediate area, there were 2 coyotes, 1 foraging for food, the other just tagging along patiently. We made eye contact, but it didn't seem to mind and happily moused, dug holes, and occasionally came up with a tasty morsel or two. This is one of the many images I got that early evening, as the light was still quite nice in this area. Oh, I forgot to mention that the cell phone was thrown back into the car and the real gear came out for these. :-)

Just goes to show that sometimes fate intervenes ... I believe that I was meant to see that sunset ... that I was driven to get out for that sunset shot in the precise spot where the coyotes were hanging out ... and ultimately I was supposed to see them at close range and completely natural ... and in the best light of the day. Serendipity I say!
