This was the view from the Cheese Press Stones high up on Keld Head Scar, looking South towards the distant Lancashire coastline.
I was out in the Yorkshire Dales with John Bleakley and we had ended up here late in the day, where we were treated to, more or less, constant displays of the suns rays in the distance, as the winter sun kept piercing the cloud cover.
I do admit this was'nt the best composition, but I tried to get the distant rays and the stones in the same shot. Such was the position of the rays, it made it difficult to get the two gigantic rocks separated sufficiently and in doing so they actually look quite small too.

This collaboration with Beth was done differently than the ones previous. Instead of going back and forth until we arrived at a single final image, Beth provided the initial starter and then we both expanded on it separately. We are posting at the same time without knowing what each has done with it.

For more than 25 years, an international dog sled race has been taking place in the wilderness of Plateau de Retord. Many mushers love this site to train their teams throughout the winter.
The sled dog racing is subdivided into several categories according to the number of dogs harnessed and in three subcategories according to the breed of dogs harnessed.
Indeed, the faster Siberian Husky compete in a separate category, the other three breeds : Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and Greenland dog run in the same category, while the so-called "Nordic type" dogs participate in their own category.

Ynys Llanddwyn (Island Of Dwynwen) is separated from Ynys Môn by a tidal causeway. It has a good story
Dwynwen was a daughter of King Brychan Brycheiniog, who lived in the 5th century. She and her three brothers were washed up on the Môn coast and attended a feast held by the local ruler. She fell fell in love with a young man named Maelon, but he tried to seduce her and she rejected his advances. When he tried to rape her she prayed to forget her love for him.
An angel provided her with a potion from a holy well. Maelon drank it and turned into ice. Dwynwen prayed for three requests. These three requests wee that Maelon be released; that, through her, God look after all true lovers; and that she remain unmarried. She then retreated to the solitude of to become a hermit until she died, in about AD 460. Other single women joined her in a convent on the island and (bizarrely given the history) she became the patron saint of lovers
So it is said. But her church at Llanddwyn became an important shrine during the Middle Ages. The holy well became a site of pilgrimage, at which the movement of fish in its waters was believed to indicate lovers' destinies.

I wanted to capture our latest visitor to our skies, Comet Neowise so I set my alarm clock for a very early start and headed down to Berry Head to see what I could find. I was lucky enough to get the ISS coming over which I captured having the camera pointed in a North Easterly direction and used my wide angle lens to get both the Comet and ISS together. I had a great night looking up at many things in the night sky and stayed for the sunrise too so more images will follow.

This church is designed according to the usual formula of the local Mudejar style; three naves separated from each other by pillars, an apse and a transept. The apse of the central nave is covered with a starred ribbed vault very typical of Gothic art, dating the construction of the church to somewhere near the end of the 15th century.
The Gospel nave is connected to the outside through a lintelled door, whereas the Epistle nave is connected via a Gothic-style door to the large courtyard that acts as a side entrance to the church.
The main altarpiece, dating to the first third of the 18th century, consists of the lower part or basement of the altarpiece, underneath the main body which is divided into three aisles and an attic.
At the end of the 18th century, during the Baroque period, the church was transformed; the false vaults were removed during alterations carried out in 1975, and the upper body of the tower-façade was added, located at the foot of the church, with a rectangular floor plan where there is a linteled doorway between pilasters.
The tower consists of a pedestal framed by Baroque volutes, and rounded off by a balustrade terrace on which the belfry stands; it is finished off with highly decorated gables and a spire.
