Swallowtails are notoriously challenging to shoot because they're in almost constant fluttering motion. But their four wing parts actually move separately, with the forward wings moving the most. in a winter plumage. A flock of noisy Black-headed gulls (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) landed on the river when a passer-by started feeding resident swans. They didn’t stay for long though.
In the past the scientific name of this species was Larus ridibundus. Larus in Latin ‘larus’ or in Ancient Greek ‘laros’ apparently meaning “gull” or “seabird”. The epithet ‘ridibundus’ means in Latin “laughing lot” referring to its characteristic call resembling laugh, and a noisy behaviour of the flock. 20 years ago, all black-headed species moved to a separate genus ”Chroicocephalus”. This name is an amalgamation of two Ancient Greek words ‘khroizo’, “to colour", and ‘kephale’, "head”, i.e. ‘colour-headed’ – makes more sense… in summer, when they are in a breeding plumage. In winter months their heads mainly white with few dark streaks and spots. The river Avon’s riverside, Bath, BANES, England UK.

At Hopewell Rocks the formations consist of red-brown sedimentary conglomerate, sandstone, and minor mudstone rock. We were lucky to see this area at both high and low tide. According to National Ocean Services the highest tides in the world can be found here at the Bay of Fundy which separates New Brunswick from Nova Scotia. I posted with people in the picture so that you can see how tall the formations are.

My third annual attempt to capture a fuchsia.
This is getting closer to where I wanted to be with this subject. It's still not exactly what I wanted, but maybe I'll get another chance this year :). The colors of this flower are so vivid and the curves of the shape are so delicate that it's worth the extra effort.
As with many of my flower macros, this was shot on a light table and was illuminated from behind.
This photo is a depth stack of 6 separate images, each of which focuses at a slightly different distance. I was shooting at f/32 to get maximum depth of field, but even then, when the nearest element was in focus, the farthest was out of focus and vice versa. The solution is to shoot multiple images at different focal lengths and then composite them in a Photoshop depth stack.
The really amazing thing about being shut away and separated is that we are not so much shut away with all the communication possibilities we have, which makes our lives so much easier. I remember when I had children in Brazil and my family were in Britain, and Gerry, my husband's family were here in the USA it was almost impossible to talk to one another, even telegrams did not necessarily make it, we had to rely on the good old letter, that took its sweet time! But today through the internet etc I am able to keep in touch with my family and friends in Europe, Canada, South America and any state here in the USA. A miracle indeed! Always look on the bright side my friends.
My original photo was taken on the iPhone and then I added another work and new dimensions through PicMonkey and Photoshop and Lightroom.

Telopea speciosissima, commonly known as the New South Wales waratah or simply waratah, is a large shrub in the plant family Proteaceae. It is endemic to New South Wales in Australia. No subspecies are recognised; the closely related Telopea aspera was classified as a separate species in 1995. T. speciosissima is a shrub to 3 or 4 m (9.8 or 13.1 ft) high and 2 m (6.6 ft) wide, with dark green leaves. Its several stems arise from a pronounced woody base known as a lignotuber. The species is well renowned for its striking large red springtime inflorescences (flowerheads), each including hundreds of individual flowers. These are visited by the eastern pygmy possum (Cercartetus nanus), birds such as honeyeaters (Meliphagidae), and various insects.
I had great hopes for my very first visit to Anglesey a week or so ago. I had completed my research, asked others for their advice on photographic locations and was quite looking forward to taking some snaps somewhere a bit different from my usual haunts. It was all mapped out... a sunset at that location, a sunrise here, a night shoot there, and so on.
The reality was three days of mostly horizontal driving rain interspersed with fog, wind and sea mist so thick at times I could barely see the hand in front of my face. After relentless bad weather, the clouds finally separated for about two hours on my last morning so I raced across to Penmon on the north east tip of Anglesey.
It was still blowing pretty hard but at least it wasn’t driving rain and I did manage to get the camera out to show it what a lighthouse looks like.

The Gulf fritillary or passion butterfly is a bright orange butterfly in the subfamily Heliconiinae of the family Nymphalidae. That subfamily was formerly set apart as a separate family, the Heliconiidae. The Heliconiinae are "longwing butterflies", which have long, narrow wings compared to other butterflies.

European tree frogs are small; males range from 32–43 mm (1.3–1.7 in) in length, and females range from 40–50 mm (1.6–2.0 in) in length. They are slender, with long legs. Their dorsal skin is smooth, while their ventral skin is granular. Their dorsal skin can be green, gray, or tan depending on the temperature, humidity, or their mood. Their ventral skin is a whitish color, and the dorsal and ventral skin is separated by a dark brown lateral stripe from the eyes to the groin. Females have white throats, while males have golden brown throats with large (folded) vocal sacs. The head of H. arborea is rounded, the lip drops strongly, the pupil has the shape of a horizontal ellipse, and the tympanum is clearly recognizable. The discs on the frog's toes, which it uses to climb trees and hedges, is a characteristic feature of H. arborea . Like other frogs, their hind legs are much larger and stronger than the fore legs, enabling the frogs to jump rapidly.
The Heritage Council describes the Mount Gould Police Station thus:
The Mount Gould Police Station opened in the 1880s as a centre for police protection for Murchison pastoralists. In the late 1890s early 1900s, the police were concerned with checking cattle and sheep killing by the local Aboriginals. The buildings consist of the main station, which originally had a separate kitchen, lock-up, stone-lined well and a grave. Iron bars, to which prisoners were chained, are still set in the walls of the lock-up. On 3 June 1987, the restored Mt Gould police station was dedicated to all the pioneers who settled the district.
No mention of the treatment of the First Nations people who were often made to walk in chains to Carnarvon, some 450 kilometres away. Imagine doing this in the summer heat where the temperatures can exceed 40 °C.
Nor any mention of the Wajarri people, who had their own complaints regarding the disruption of water supplies and native wildlife by the pastoralists.
We camped here overnight. It still lingers in my mind, giving me an ill feeling. There is a feeling, a spirit about this place. I was happy to move on early the next morning.

Victoria Harbour is a natural landform harbour separating Hong Kong Island in the south from the Kowloon Peninsula to the north. The harbour's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea were instrumental in Hong Kong's establishment as a British colony and its subsequent development as a trading centre. The first reference to what is now called Victoria Harbour is found in Zheng He's sailing maps of the China coast, dated c.1425, which appear in the Wubei Zhi (A Treatise on Armament Technology), a comprehensive 17th-century military book.

Sombrero , de convexo a aplanado y deprimido en el centro, margen irregular y un característico y bello festoneado. Cutícula algo viscosa en tiempo húmedo, color anaranjado con el borde amarillo. Láminas separadas, desiguales, con diminutas lamélulas, algo decurrentes, color variando de amarillo a naranja. Pie cilíndrico, hueco, algo curvado en la base, donde el naranja se blanquea. Carne delgada, escasa, fibrosa, amarillo-naranja. Olor a miel, insabora.
Hábitat
Prados y musgos húmedos. Bosques perennes (alcornoque) o cadusifolios (roble, castaño). Poco común, pasa desapercibida por su pequeño tamaño. Hat, from convex to flattened and depressed in the center, irregular margin and a characteristic and beautiful scalloping. Cuticle somewhat slimy in humid weather, orange with yellow border. Blades separate, unequal, with minute lamellae, somewhat decurrent, color varying from yellow to orange. Cylindrical, hollow foot, somewhat curved at the base, where the orange is bleached. Thin, sparse, fibrous, yellow-orange flesh. Smell of honey, tasteless.
Habitat
Wet meadows and mosses. Evergreen (cork oak) or deciduous (oak, chestnut) forests. Uncommon, it goes unnoticed due to its small size
