Not the back drop I hoped for, but nice to get some shots of these awesome birds.

Short Eared Owl, Bowland

Large Crop - It doesn't matter how much I try, but unfortunately I cannot get a close fly-by from these guys at Portland. I was under a Cam Net and in a thorny bush for this shot, waiting and waiting till the last moment to fire the shutter but the bird always turned away. Clearly she heard the shutter on this burst, but it was getting late and the light was extremely low, so I had to give up yet again. So I'm off this afternoon to try again, probably my last chance before they migrate.

I had an hour or two out with my camera this afternoon, the first time in ages I have been out on the lookout for wildlife. I was fortunate enough to come across this Short Eared Owl who was quite happy to pose for me.

A few shots all taken last week in and around The Great Fen, Cambridgeshire

Short-eared owl diving

Short-eared owl - Asio flammeus. Here's today's owl from last Tuesday's visit to the British Wildlife Centre. What a thrill to be so close to something that I have spent hours stalking in the wild. I just love their "bovver-boy" expression. Thank you all for such interest and kind words.

sorry for all the shorties but I use flickr as a extra hard drive so I like to upload decent shots before deleting off my hard drive

Golden hour and the sun is resting on the horizon as this SEO poses for the photographers who wait patiently..

Short Eared Owl

Quite a substantial crop of two Short-eared Owls having a territorial dust up !!

Why don't these things happen closer :o(

GREAT PACK!!

this is what im talkin about!

this kid has got talent.

amazing pack homie!

Another treat all in one day goes to show never leave home without a camera.

While looking up for a Short Eared Owl in flight a helpful passer by pointed out the one sat right in front of me - doh!

After watching a SEO sit on a fence post too far away to photograph for over 8 hours (I am not kidding) - I decided that I had to get at least one photo from the day.

So - here is a friendly Robin :)
