Short Eared Owl on the hunt for dinner

After making a kill short-eared owl checks area before swallowing prey whole. Unfortunately he did so facing away from me.

The only Seo i saw this morning but what a lovely bird , showing very well at times , it was hunting for over an hour in front of me but failed to catch anything.

A very pleasant couple of hours were spent in the company of Patrick Hawkins , Geoff Holland , and Simon Dibble at Steart this afternoon where this lovely SEO was giving us a right run around , eventually in the last throes of light we managed to get some half decent shots.

Caught this SEO at Sandwich Bay near Dickson's corner this morning. It hadn't noticed me at this point, it was concentrating on something to eat... `it was raining too..

We went looking for Shorties, but only saw this one. Just my luck. Better than none though!

Another somewhat distant shot from my visit to Berryhill Fields on Friday. It was some distance away from me here but it was great how it kept looking across to the other side of the field where I was standing, just to check that I was not getting any closer.

Sadly it didn't catch anything while I was watching and it moved on to a different field where I left it alone to hunt in peace.

This male Shortie is a stunning example of a healthy hunter. He later caught a nice sized vole.
