Road Car 1328 is a Leyland Atlantean AN68A/1R with Roe bodywork. It was new in 1977 as Ipswich Borough Transport 28, it was acquired by Road Car in 1995. The centre exit was removed before it entered service.

Another view that has been posted on flickr before, but redone because of the recent demise of Service 2. This shows the terminus at Ransomes Works on the east side of Ipswich. Bus 22 is setting out for Electric House on the "regular" Derby Road service, but the shot must have been taken around shift change time, for two other buses are on hand to undertake "peak" extras. Bristol 121 is on a works special that used to run right through to Chantry Estate.
Most (possibly all) bus services ceased using this facility after Ransomes Way was opened up in January 1989.

Le plafond du salon Gallé, ancienne salle à manger privée de l'Hôtel Mercure Château-Perrache
Le plafond est orné d'une peinture sur toile marouflée datée de 1906 du peintre Louis Picard (selon une indication de l'hôtel et inconnu selon l'inventaire général) où quatre jeunes filles se penchent vers les convives. Des enfants reliés par des guirlandes de clématites et de roses entourent le groupe central.
Les murs de ce salon sont recouverts de lambris en bois de citronnier de Louis Majorelle, hauts de 3,6m.
Les retombées du plafond sont garnies d'une frise d'agrafes ornées de chutes de fruits.
Quatre bas-reliefs sculptés représentant une femme entourée d'enfants dans un environnement végétal, sont placés au-dessus des portes.

La Compagnie P. L. M. décide vers 1902 la construction d'un hôtel de luxe proche de la gare de Perrache au 12, cours de Verdun à Lyon (Hôtel Terminus du PLM)
L'architecte retenu est Georges CHEDANNE (1861-1940), Grand Prix de Rome en 1887. Assisté de l'architecte lyonnais M. Curieux, il conçoit un immeuble à structure métallique très novateur pour l'époque qui est achevé en 1906. En 1937, l'hôtel rentre au patrimoine de la SNCF, son exploitation est successivement concédée à plusieurs sociétés. C'est aujourd'hui un hôtel Mercure (Groupe Accor).
Au moment de la construction, les meilleurs artistes et décorateurs contribuent au décor intérieur de l'hôtel Terminus dont une partie a été conservée. Le bâtiment a été inscrit sur l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques (façades, toitures, plusieurs salons du 2ème niveau)

Ipswich Borough never took kindly to the idea of "all-over advertising" on their buses. Local firm Britannia Stores had been expressing keen interest in such a vehicle for some years. (As a compromise they took up all the "normal" advertising space on Regent V No. 65). Eventually, Ipswich relented and agreed to have Atlantean No. 34 painted in this special promotional livery. Whatever one thinks of the livery, and all-over adverts in general, this was a very skilful piece of painting and sign-writing. The bus is seen in Landseer Road in 1981.

Former Ipswich Buses Atlantean, SDX 31R, Bayview Junction, Ontario, Canada, working the Royal Botanical Gardens shuttle service on 10.6.2007.
Rising up from the little town of Rock River, visible just to the right of the lead unit's cab, a UP eastbound "SDX" with 25 cars behind U30c, WP GP40-2 (2917-WP3554) climbs to enter the rock cut behind me. It's Springtime in Wyoming, and I remember the joke among our little group was that all four seasons were visible from our vantage point! On the left background is Elk Mountain, rising to elevation 11156' and able to seriously affect the traffic on Interstate 80. Signs on I-80 near Laramie will advise of conditions near Elk Mountain that affect travelers, particularly truckers. During this time, the Rio Grande mainline was closed as a through route in Utah due to a major slide near Thistle, and the normal traffic that U.P. brought through was supplemented with D&RGW trains (piloted by U.P. units because of their need for cab signals.) One of my friends on this trip was a dispatcher for the Grande, and he was entertained with all the trains he was missing at work!
