Hurricane Mk.1 V7497 was manufactured in August 1940 by Hawker Aircraft Ltd at Kingston. Flown operationally at the height of the Battle of Britain from the famous Royal Air Force fighter station at Kenley, in East London, the aircraft was lost during an operational patrol on 28th September over Sutton in Kent.
After an in-depth restoration completed by Hawker Restorations, Hurricane V7497 – civil registration G-HRLI – returned to the skies again on 31st August 2018. A thorough test flying process followed and the Hurricane was delivered to its new home at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford on 14th September 2018. V7497, coded SD-X, forms part of the Battle of Britain exhibition at the museum.
Another re-post, I believe, of this U.P. eastbound "SDX" with 25 cars behind U30c, WP GP40-2 (2917-WP3554.) Three of us came up from Denver to watch the Rio Grande detour trains on EwePee between Salt Lake City and Denver, due to the major mudslide that closed their mainline near Thistle, Utah, and necessitated construction of new tunnels at that location. One of my buddies was a Grande dispatcher at the time and I suppose he wanted to see where all his trains went! We were treated to plenty of traffic and the four seasons of Wyoming, all readily visible this wild Spring day from this height a few miles north of Laramie. It was railroad west, though, as the U.P. makes a wide swing to the north before heading around the north side of Elk Mountain; its 11156' elevation is visible in the far left distance. I recall that we saw/experienced rain, snow, sunlight and - of course - wind. It is Wyoming.

The kingbird is a fly catcher, that usually catches its prey while in flight. Here, it's seen a bug on the ground and not passing up an easy meal.
