The streamlined S-Class locomotives are finally finished (unless we modify them further)! I have been helping Teunis with them for the last couple of months. Teunis has built two locos (301 and 302) and I have built a third (303) to go with the non-streamlined S that I built last year.
Here S 302 Edward Henty is posed next to unstreamlined S 300.
The non-streamlined loco can run through standard Lego curves. The streamlined loco has a minimum of R120 thanks to the streamlining around the front truck.
Four S Class locomotives express passenger locomotives were built by the Victorian Railways, entering service in 1928. With the introduction of the new Spirit of Progress service in 1937 (providing the Victorian leg of the Melbourne to Sydney express), the locomotives were streamlined and received a new blue and gold livery and larger tenders for the express run from Melbourne to Albury on the New South Wales border.
Sitting in a line up of stored CFCLA power on 5-2-2017 is S300,S311,44208,44209 facing an uncertain future .

This week's highlight comes from a country I haven't uploaded in a long time now - Andorra. I was pretty surprised to find this W220 just randomly parked up at the Gendamermarkt when I was running some errands. I guess I was pretty lucky. I usually try not to take pictures of parked cars with people inside of them, but I had no choice here. Andorra is definitely one of the rarest European state for me, which is no surprise, given that it's far away and it only has about 80k inhabitants.

Production began in 1979 and continued until 1991, with a major update in 1985. The sedans were available as S, SE and SEL models, the latter featuring a wheelbase extended by 14 cm. Buyers could choose from 4 petrol engines offered in 13 power variants. Important new safety technologies, such as electronically controlled ABS, were introduced. It was also one of the first cars to undergo highly comprehensive crash tests. The excellent characteristics and high build quality led to enormous commercial success, with a total production of 818.063 units. Bruno Sacco was responsible for the design.

The Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3 was a full-sized luxury performance car. It featured the company's powerful V8 from the flagship 600 limousine. The result was one of the world's fastest 4-door cars. AMG, back then a small local tuning workshop, modified a 300 SEL to compete in racing events, nicknamed "Red Sow", which finished 2nd in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1971, putting AMG forever on the map. Its racing career was short-lived, due to the lack of suitable tyres. The car was sold to French company Matra, which used it for test of jet fighter landing gear, but it didn't survive. This is a replica.

Ich hatte in der vergangenen Woche ein kurzes aber tolles Date mit einem Mercedes Benz S 580e. Natürlich hatte ich wieder keine Zeit .. wie immer .. aber einige wenige Fotos mussten sein. Der Preis für diesen Wagen lag bei 204.000 € .. 😎👍
Last week I had a short but great date with a Mercedes Benz S 580e. Of course I didn't have time again... as always... but a few photos had to be taken. The price for this car was €204,000... 😎👍

The face of a locomotive has changed drastically over the years, long have the days gone since it was a 'must' to have a streamlined engine to appear sophisticated to the now boring flat front style.

Southern Shorthaul Railroad run their Hunter Valley export empty wheat rake from Carrington to Goolgowi in the Riverina, via Sydney, Cootamundra and Temora today Friday 18-8-2017.
BRM002-S317-S302-C505 worked the first leg of train no.4343 to Cootamundra. Upon arrival the two S class were removed and replaced by the sole pair of NREX 1200 class Gensets for the run out the branchlines. They made for an unusual and spectacular sight, unseen before in NSW.

Fitted with a 2996 cc six-cylinder diesel engine, probably from a W124 300 D/TD, not the engine from the American Mercedes-Benz 300 SD.

Black works really well on cars from Liechtenstein. It's nice to see an FL plate on an older upscale car as well. I'm not really digging the newer wheels and the crappy aftermarket lights.

In North Beijing, I spotted these both Mercedes-Benz V126, sadly abandoned ...
S-Class W/V126 are quite popular in 1990's in China as foreigners vehicles or ambassy/consulate vehicles.
Years after years most of them are owned by Chinese people.
Currently, these old beauties are victim of banishment from Beijing authorities.
So lots of them are abandoned, moved to other place or just scrapped.
This year, Beijing was another time a great place to spot cars.
I discovered new places with some interesting things and spotted very cool cars :)
Mercedes S-Klasse Cabrio und Coupé der aktuellen Baureihe 217 sollen nur noch bis Mai 2020 frei von den Kunden bestellbar sein, danach werden nur noch Lagerfahrzeuge angeboten. Die Produktion läuft dann zu den Werksferien im August endgültig aus. Eine offizielle Bestätigung dieser Infos gibt es allerdings nicht.
Mercedes S-Class Cabrio and Coupé of the current series 217 should only be freely available to customers until May 2020, after which only storage vehicles will be offered. Production then finally comes to an end during the plant holidays in August. However, there is no official confirmation of this information.
The MoT history shows it as being out of use for a few years, with a test in 2019 then off-road until 2024. Good to see it in use again.

I discovered this limousine thanks to some Chinese friends.
Trasco was a German company specialized in Mercedes-Benz converting.
Its main product in 1980s was on the base of Mercedes W126.
Several limousines were based on the W126. Stretched by 15", 18", 36" and 44" like this one.
A very rare vehicle in China.

The new generation S-Klasse Typ 250/Typ 300 was introduced in Aug. 1965. The petrol injection system was relatively expensive.
The 250 was replaced by the 280 SE already in Dec. 1967.

An absolutely bizarre spot. Not only can you spot 163-1 and 163-2 in the same picture, but seeing an older S-Class being used as a diplomatic vehicle, especially from a country like Tajikistan, is an interesting spot.

Robert Jankel Company was specialized in customization of Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Range Rover, Bentley or Rolls-Royce in 80s and 90s.
I saw this one abandoned somewhere in the Yinchuan city in north China.
