I like that the (or eat) part of the sign seems to be an amusing afterthought. I laughed. The restaurant where this appeared is asking people to vote for their favorite one of the Gingerbread houses.

This was done from a real Pentax K-S2 photo I did of pretty landscaping at a Credit Union not far from Gateway Mall in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon USA. When I put it on a photo program it doesn't show the EXIF data.

When I put it on the Flickr map it showed up as Glenwood area. It's not even close to Glenwood; so I moved it north of where it actually was to get it to not say Glenwood any more. Now it doesn't say Glenwood, but it is too far north of reality. Flickr maps are Aaarrgh-worthy!

Please let it load for 1 or 2 seconds more than you normally do for most images. Often, it will get more clear.

I also call this color Cerise. Hope they are pink enough for the "Only Pink Flowers" group

For Dave C., I think Flowers are the *soul* of the world and It helps my soul to have planted them and shared this photo.

I no longer live near Heartland Humane Society in Corvallis, Oregon; so I don't get a chance to photograph very many cats. It is sort of cat-ch as cat-ch can.

It may be high up in the sky and clouds, but the sun was going down. Buffalo Cloud is on watch.

This is for the HIGH topic of Our Daily Challenge. The sun really was starting downward, and the clouds on high looked dark and ominous. I took a little poetic license mixed with imagination and came up with what it looked like to me.

#HeartBreakingNews: I was completely robbed/scammed of all the money I accrued from selling my old Canon camera gear 24 hours ago. I’m at a loss. I’m sad and disheartened by these people. I’m not going to be able to get the camera and 2 lenses that I was aiming for on this next round. I was very close to getting a now discontinued but still very relevant full frame Sony A7R Mark II for landscapes and events and the goal was to get a portrait lens and a 28mm wide angle landscape lens. So...for the foreseeable future I will not be composing or capturing new landscapes and beauty until I find a way to get back on track. It’s hard to not feel like crap when you’re trying to grow and achieve progress and some low down rotten mangy takes everything you have left. I was just getting ready to get back on track, build the Fest for this year, along with a dozen other tasks and now I’m just feeling disheartened today. 5 years ago I was physically robbed. This is a very similar rut/feeling.

#BEWARE (@PayPal) So basically what PayPal told me today is if someone hacks your email, uses it to hack your PayPal and send money through the friends and family option to some rogue Scammer’s email, there’s ABSOLUTELY NO WAY for them to reverse the transaction!? Did you get that? They’re hands are tied and your money is whisked away with no hope! Even the #CedarCity #PoliceDepartment along with local #lawenforcement said my chances of getting any justice from this case was slim after filing a police report for the theft of $1,200 dollars.

This is a real street scene and real tree silhouettes at nighttime in Springfield, Oregon USA, but the rainting of it makes it very artsy. This is along Main Street in the eastern part of town. Since you've read this far, I'm going to ask you about the very rare, glow-faced, one-eyed, leopard-spotted snail who is trying to escape the scene. He is toward the bottom and almost flush with the right side. Whatcha think? Should I free him by cropping him out completely or leave him in?

For Dave C. I think the Soul of this image is that normally I can remember pretty accurately where I was parked and what the general subjects in my photo, or at least the main subjects, were when I took the shot. The Soul on this one is that I can't remember.

ABOUT RAINTINGS

Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.

The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

San Francisco is famous for its fog, and there is some of it in the left hand corner of this image, which by the way, my son took. And don't faint but several years ago, he actually helped to build this fence. I have to ask him if this is the exact one he helped to construct, or just one like it.

This is at the Kezar Triangle Park, about 2nd & Lincoln.

Bob the Cat to be more precise. I haven't yet bought any plants for my planter; so Bob found his way in there for a nap. Bob is a neighbor's cat, actually sort of a community cat.

Ususally, I show more of the front/cab of my truck pictures, but this 158 ft. load was so impressive that I thought this shot might be cool for Happy Truck Thursday group here on Flickr.

This load was so heavy and so long that, though not visible in this particular angle, there was an additional driver tucked into the rear section of wheels, not for a claustrophobic person, for sure, but an amazing load and set-up. I have never seen a longer load than this in my years on this Flickr Truck Thursday group.

This shot of the more rear part of the truck and truck load was private by me until today, February 1, 2024, but I shot it years ago, and had posted more of the front part of it, also long ago. I think, in this case that *long ago* would be an unintentional pun. I was Northbound on I-5 in Oregon, probably headed from Corvallis on up to Portland to the Japanese Gardens or the Zoo. This was just a rest stop along my trip. I actually got to talk with the two (front and rear) drivers. It was a unique site and chat.

My granddaughter and I were on a country drive and this beauty came right over to the road and greeted us.

"We're on Twitter with one side of our personality,

and Facebook with another,

and LinkedIn with another side of our personality,

and we're toggling between them.

That's just a version of what an impostor does:

shifting from one side of their personality to another

with lightning speed."

This is a real building with a bit of surreal techniques on my photo, nevertheless the most real of the 3 versions I just posted.

This is an interesting plant. The yellow flower, sort of pod looking things start out as kind of yellow-green, then open to yellow, and then somehow become like bluish/purplish little grapes. The leaves have sort of sharp little points like holly, but not as severe, perhaps, and they turn red and green and brown. I don't think the tiny grape parts are known for being edible, but they are pretty and they are the State Flower of Oregon, USA

(DSCN1670OakvilleChurchvertbetweentreesinitflickr041117)

There are three versions of this tonight. All 3 had some color reflected from my dashboard in my truck, added from a different picture. You can make out what it is on the bottom right. This version has a Oil Paint 14 technique on the composite.

It may not look like it but approx. the one 1/4th of image in the top left, though painterly, was a real and colorful sunset.

Well darn it. I had this in the ABCs and 123s group for all of about 2 minutes and realized, while I had it there for H is for Hanna Bridge or Hanna Covered Bridge, that my artistic rendering of this bridge did not show the name of it on the sign. In the process of posting this one and then removing it, I somehow lost my description. I will try to see if I can reconstruct it. Evening of February 12, 2022

Tenuous Link: turtle >> slow

For ABCs and 123s group, there is number 10, as in Ten Miles Per Hour. Also, if you combine the letters in SLOW and in BRIGHT you get 10 Letters. If you ponder on that, many of us are sometimes a combination of slow and bright.
