I put this in my "Comparison & Resemblance (album)" because this is the artsy version I made from the more plain (and more realistic one) that is the 3rd one ahead of this one.

A high and impressive cliff of basalt just to the side of Salt Creek Falls supports the beautiful fence built of rock, metal & wood.

I didn't put this in any water or waterfall groups because it doesn't actually show any water. However, I did put it in my waterfalls set/album because it was part and parcel of my day at Salt Creek Falls, and of being able to view the waterfall. My criteria for my own albums/sets is more lax. LOL

For the If These Walls Could Talk group, I think they would tell of the long time where water has constantly flowed over or around them, beautifully so. It has been at least a century, and my guess is many, many centuries.

Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr.

This is out by the playing fields of Hamlin Middle School in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon USA.

I think Cloudy has a sly little grin.

I took this shot of a real pond in the fall colors in Eugene, Oregon with my very real Pentax S-K2 camera, but I put it through a photo-art program so no EXIF data shows.

This guy pretty much had me wrapped around his little finger (toe). There will be more pictures coming of him.

Update posted August 15, 2007. Most of you know, but some of you don't realize that Legolas was the name of Cerulean before I adopted him. When I took this picture, I didn't yet own him (or allow him to own me). I changed his name to Cerulean. My granddaughter, Anna Leigh, calls him Roo Roo. He is a charmer.

BTW, that paw does look as if it has extra toes, but when I clipped his nails, I only came up with 4 in front and the dew claw.

These are not Raintings nor Lightlings. I'm calling them Rustarts. I may have to create a different name for these little guys & gals because Rust Art in various forms is apparently already in use.

This version is slid, but not as much as the one I posted next to it. I'm going to put them in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

(DSCN0054ResamRustCreaturesAAsatShrpInitFlickr081620)

For Dave C., The soul is a new type of little characters formed by spraying (or rain) water on rusty metal. I need to think of another name as Rust-Art and similar are already in use.

For ABCs and 123s group numbers 1-12, this is number 5

HFF!

I had posted the June 6th version of this with nothing done to it, straight out of my camera. Today I'm posting this enhanced version and I'm putting both versions in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

This one is resized, rotated so horizon line is a little better, sharpened so the rainting part shows up better, and what do ya know, the litter patrol (me) came by and cleaned up some litter in the bottom left hand corner under the fence. I don't understand why the sharpness doesn't show at first.

Samsung camera phone shot. This shot is similar to one I already posted on July 22, 2017, but not the same. This was a sharper image to begin with, and I cropped it differently, and I gave it a "posterized" effect. I like the warm glow of his fur, and beautiful colorization of the stones, and that the orange vintage toy scoop loader looks even more appropriately vintage.

Further upstream Brice Creek and Layng Creek have formed the Row River. It is pronounced so it rhymes with cow.

This version is supposed to look black & white.

5 faves in 12 views and it wasn't yet in any groups, albums nor did I tag it yet. LOL

For Dave C. and other Flickr friends, and also for the "If These Walls Could Talk" (group), I think the soul of this picture is how pretty it is amongst all the concrete, and oil stains of a parking garage. If this wall could talk, I think it would say that it wished people would NOT choose to park right in front of it, because it makes it really hard for Delina to get a good picture. There are many other spaces people could park in.

I'm not sure. Do you think it is a Dahlia?

For Dave C., I think the *soul* of this one is this little yellow flower was growing and doing rather well only about 16 inches away from a little yellow pansy I posted last week. The little pansy was having a rough time of it, and this little gal seems to be fine.

The single pole looks taller than the twin pylons, but it isn't. It's a perspective distortion because the pylons were further away from me when I took the picture.

ABOUT RAINTINGS

Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.

The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

You're probably not, but just in case you're having trouble figuring out the *hippo* it is just his left side, a tiny bit of back area and then head area. His left ear is showing, and you can kind of figure out part of his mouth. His left side is facing to the viewer's left and toward the red ball. You already knew all that, right?

"DSCN1273PsychedelicHippoPondersRedBallFlickr040320"

For Dave C. and other Flickr friends, The pylon part didn't really go in the song, but they are the *soul* and the most REAL part of this photo.

There was no fire (headlights on field of grasses and blackberries), and there was no rain (faux rainting water on my windshield). Trust me, this is Oregon, USA and there will be rain coming soon, really heavy super clouds full of it.

You could say living under water didn't set well with Miss Chicken. Even some of her eggs were looking deformed.

I like that the (or eat) part of the sign seems to be an amusing afterthought. I laughed. The restaurant where this appeared is asking people to vote for their favorite one of the Gingerbread houses.

This was done from a real Pentax K-S2 photo I did of pretty landscaping at a Credit Union not far from Gateway Mall in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon USA. When I put it on a photo program it doesn't show the EXIF data.

When I put it on the Flickr map it showed up as Glenwood area. It's not even close to Glenwood; so I moved it north of where it actually was to get it to not say Glenwood any more. Now it doesn't say Glenwood, but it is too far north of reality. Flickr maps are Aaarrgh-worthy!

Please let it load for 1 or 2 seconds more than you normally do for most images. Often, it will get more clear.

I also call this color Cerise. Hope they are pink enough for the "Only Pink Flowers" group

For Dave C., I think Flowers are the *soul* of the world and It helps my soul to have planted them and shared this photo.

It may be high up in the sky and clouds, but the sun was going down. Buffalo Cloud is on watch.

This is for the HIGH topic of Our Daily Challenge. The sun really was starting downward, and the clouds on high looked dark and ominous. I took a little poetic license mixed with imagination and came up with what it looked like to me.

#HeartBreakingNews: I was completely robbed/scammed of all the money I accrued from selling my old Canon camera gear 24 hours ago. I’m at a loss. I’m sad and disheartened by these people. I’m not going to be able to get the camera and 2 lenses that I was aiming for on this next round. I was very close to getting a now discontinued but still very relevant full frame Sony A7R Mark II for landscapes and events and the goal was to get a portrait lens and a 28mm wide angle landscape lens. So...for the foreseeable future I will not be composing or capturing new landscapes and beauty until I find a way to get back on track. It’s hard to not feel like crap when you’re trying to grow and achieve progress and some low down rotten mangy takes everything you have left. I was just getting ready to get back on track, build the Fest for this year, along with a dozen other tasks and now I’m just feeling disheartened today. 5 years ago I was physically robbed. This is a very similar rut/feeling.

#BEWARE (@PayPal) So basically what PayPal told me today is if someone hacks your email, uses it to hack your PayPal and send money through the friends and family option to some rogue Scammer’s email, there’s ABSOLUTELY NO WAY for them to reverse the transaction!? Did you get that? They’re hands are tied and your money is whisked away with no hope! Even the #CedarCity #PoliceDepartment along with local #lawenforcement said my chances of getting any justice from this case was slim after filing a police report for the theft of $1,200 dollars.

Picture was taken before this cow crossed the road out by the #Ghosttown of #Frisco #Utah.k

This is a real street scene and real tree silhouettes at nighttime in Springfield, Oregon USA, but the rainting of it makes it very artsy. This is along Main Street in the eastern part of town. Since you've read this far, I'm going to ask you about the very rare, glow-faced, one-eyed, leopard-spotted snail who is trying to escape the scene. He is toward the bottom and almost flush with the right side. Whatcha think? Should I free him by cropping him out completely or leave him in?

For Dave C. I think the Soul of this image is that normally I can remember pretty accurately where I was parked and what the general subjects in my photo, or at least the main subjects, were when I took the shot. The Soul on this one is that I can't remember.

San Francisco is famous for its fog, and there is some of it in the left hand corner of this image, which by the way, my son took. And don't faint but several years ago, he actually helped to build this fence. I have to ask him if this is the exact one he helped to construct, or just one like it.

This is at the Kezar Triangle Park, about 2nd & Lincoln.
