My thought on this matter is that a gate in one's mind is still very much a gate.
My photo has an oil paint 3 technique on it which is best noticeable by viewing it large or at least medium large. I tagged it as PAINTERLY and also put it in some other art and painting group/pools.

This airport is actually named Mahlon Sweet, but hardly anyone calls it that.
For Dave C, and other Flickr friends, the *soul* of this picture is that I don't have a lot of money, but it cost me almost $5.00 to park in the short-term parking lot and wait for a friend who was departing for Alaska. I was right on time, but she was late; so I didn't even get to interact with her at all that day. I waved from a distance when she showed up. I had gas expense too. I tried to find something redeeming about my situation. and I found it. I shot this bench picture for a future Bench Monday.

The first type of fence is chain and pole. It, and the gorgeous tree are what drew me to stop, park my truck, walk across the street and take this picture. I thought the chain and pole was almost more of a barrier than a fence, but then again many fences are a sort of barrier. Meanwhile, in the very back, across the driveway is a chain link fence with vinyl slats.
Please let it load for 1 or 2 seconds more than you normally do for most images. Often, it will get more clear.

A high and impressive cliff of basalt just to the side of Salt Creek Falls supports the beautiful fence built of rock, metal & wood.
I didn't put this in any water or waterfall groups because it doesn't actually show any water. However, I did put it in my waterfalls set/album because it was part and parcel of my day at Salt Creek Falls, and of being able to view the waterfall. My criteria for my own albums/sets is more lax. LOL
For the If These Walls Could Talk group, I think they would tell of the long time where water has constantly flowed over or around them, beautifully so. It has been at least a century, and my guess is many, many centuries.

Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.
The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

Samsung camera phone shot. This shot is similar to one I already posted on July 22, 2017, but not the same. This was a sharper image to begin with, and I cropped it differently, and I gave it a "posterized" effect. I like the warm glow of his fur, and beautiful colorization of the stones, and that the orange vintage toy scoop loader looks even more appropriately vintage.
Oh, I didn't mean his new toy is a Rainting, but this whole image is one. I couldn't figure out what to call his new toy? Ideas?

This picture is SOOC. I re-sized it, but not changing any dimensions, composition or colors, and I added my thin white border and copyright-initials. My actual image is right out of my camera. The rainting part of my image is explained above. The movement was purposeful. When I took the picture I thought it would be fun to intentionally move my camera. I love the way this one came out.

La Grande Arche
The Hilton Hotel where we stayed for the first part of this Paris visit is in the building with the curved roof, on the right – the CNIT Building, which was the first constructed in the district (1958).
We arrived from Porto, via Orly Airport and coming in along the Bois de Boulogne, our transfer vehicle being driven by a singer of Sri Lankan background, with his own YouTube channel ... as happens in Paris, I guess!
I do not usually give free plugs to service providers, but 'Paris Disney Best Transfer' is highly recommended as a private shuttle service to/from airports and railway stations in Paris, as well as for trips with several people and luggage between places like Central Paris and Versailles.
For peace of mind I wouldn't arrive in Paris without them, simply to avoid all of the personal security issues (think scammers and pickpockets) that you can encounter on arrival in this city, when you are at your most distracted:

This was a regular photo that I "slid" and made painterly for Sliders Sunday and other artistic groups. HSS! To the right of the bridge and down below it, the greenish water is Fall Creek.

Because I did some photo-processing on this which included a screen shot of my own work during the process, it doesn't show up as a Samsung Camera Phone shot, but it was. I leave it to my viewers to decide if the fences got tired of all the chain links binding them and decided, after having too many nightcaps, to break free. Or did they just remain still as fences normally do, and I, as the artist, am the one who had too many nightcaps?
Hint: I don't drink (well maybe root beer floats or chocolate milkshakes).

I think these birds are not only handsome, but really cute too. However, I don't think the little creatures that see his beak descending upon them think he is so darn cute.

Further upstream Brice Creek and Layng Creek have formed the Row River. It is pronounced so it rhymes with cow.
Especially with some of the 90 Degree weather we've had here in Oregon some times, it was nice to jut sit down. That's the *soul* of this photo.

It had been raining on my truck, and it was really Autumn (Fall) and this glorious tiny parade of colorful fall leaves fell in line on my windshield wiper. So there is fun and whimsy, and some dreamy colors and even some reflection where my windshield met the hood of my truck. I love this, and I hope you do too!
All four leaves were dying, but they didn't seem to me like they were. It seemed as if they were heralding in Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were just so darn cute!

I had posted the June 6th version of this with nothing done to it, straight out of my camera. Today I'm posting this enhanced version and I'm putting both versions in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).
This one is resized, rotated so horizon line is a little better, sharpened so the rainting part shows up better, and what do ya know, the litter patrol (me) came by and cleaned up some litter in the bottom left hand corner under the fence. I don't understand why the sharpness doesn't show at first.

You're probably not, but just in case you're having trouble figuring out the *hippo* it is just his left side, a tiny bit of back area and then head area. His left ear is showing, and you can kind of figure out part of his mouth. His left side is facing to the viewer's left and toward the red ball. You already knew all that, right?

I took this shot of a real pond in the fall colors in Eugene, Oregon with my very real Pentax S-K2 camera, but I put it through a photo-art program so no EXIF data shows.
I put this in my "Comparison & Resemblance (album)" because this is the artsy version I made from the more plain (and more realistic one) that is the 3rd one ahead of this one.

My picture was actually taken almost 10 years ago (2006), but it was pretty blah. In May of 2016, I worked with it, enhanced it, and made it artistic. I think it turned out rather charming and is best viewed at least medium large. I found the original plainer one and posted it together with this version in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).
