Lightlings only live about 1/2 an hour on Earth, so this pair is bewildered by their role here. Perhaps it is solely to provide a laugh.
Lightlings exist only in Raintings, but Raintings can exist without Lightlings. Raintings and Lightlings can now be found in the "Urban Dictionary"

Carson lives in Brownsville, the third oldest town in Oregon. The map location is the general area, but is not precise, for Carson's privacy.
ABOUT RAINTINGS
Rainting is a word I coined describing a painterly effect, achieved by photographing the subject through glass that is being rained on, like a windshield or other. It achieves an oftentimes pretty or soft flowing effect, and sometimes other-worldly. It is usually creative, fun, and fluid, seldom harsh in my opinion. I have an album of them on Flickr. Rainting is already in "The Urban Dictionary" but I would like it to also be in a more sophisticated/educational type of dictionary. I started a public Flickr group of Raintings on New Year's Day 2020.
The more collegiate type of dictionaries say that the word has to actually be used by people before they're likely to publish it. So if you like the word and my idea, say it loud and say it clear and take a few Raintings and post them to my new group. Using my word and trying my new group are not inclusive of one another.

That orange fence is determined to be noticed in spite of being way in background.
More tags, group pools, albums, etc. later. I have a bunch of errands to run but wanted to get this up, particularly for Fence Friday type groups. ;o)

Well, maybe not exactly...
Although it is a real full moon and those are real power lines. BTW, it was a handheld shot and this is not a composite; the power lines and moon were shot at the same time.
On Monday, September 4, 2016 I heavily *slid* this exact image for Sliders Sunday group pool. If you're interested, please see approximately 9 comments down in the comment section for the comparison, and I also put both images in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

About half of the left side is a Union 76 Station and on the far right is one of their signs. Also on the right, but not as far, is actually across, on South side of, Main St., and is a very tall sign for some of the businesses in the McKenzie Crossing Shopping Center. There are some varied taillights, street lights, traffic lights, etc.
This reminds me a little bit of the Fisher-Price Play Family Village from the 1970s.
For Dave C., I think the *soul* of this one is how much an artistic representation of something real in the last few days, reminded me of something that was real close to 50 years ago. The real one of a gas station and shopping center, just yesterday, and the completely artistic and fantasy type representation of that, and then the very real toy that was not exactly like either one of those, but kind of tied together my feelings about my little artsy image. Good warm feelings!

The most prominent thing in my photo is the Union 76 Gas Station and three green traffic lights.
For Dave C., the *soul* of this one is an intersection with traffic lights and businesses that many of us see lots of times in our lives, and making it colorful and fun.

Flickr's maps are screwball sometimes. There is no City nor Town of Thurston, Oregon. Thurston is a neighborhood in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon USA
Want to know about Raintings, just ask me.
Day 73. Took the motorcycle at 3 in the morning and rode for almost two hours to see the sunrise from the Borobudur temple. After the typical argument with touts and scammers, we were rewarded with a sunrise shared with another +800 tourists.
I thought this was so pretty!
For Dave C. and other Flickr friends, the *soul* of this was simply how pretty I thought the scene was.

My real photo, but added some Oil Paint technique from a program.
Unfortunately the marked notes don't show on the enlarged image, but take at look at the general area as above, and then enlarge the photo and look approximately there.
Best Viewed Large to best see painterly effects. I marked an area or two. Look at this little area while image is enlarged and tiny evidence of autumn shows some impressionistic painterly look. It is all over the photo, but more apparent in this area.
Also, please let it load a few seconds more than you normally do for most images.
For Dave C., the *soul*l of this was taking some rather plain and ordinary in a hardware store, and making it creative, imaginary and artistic.

For Dave C. and other Flickr Friends, the *soul* of this picture is that I took it from my front porch, but I didn't label it or title that way, because I zoomed in on a distant neighborhood. For an inexpensive Nikon, my camera has an incredible zoom lens.
For "Strikingly Different | one image, two similar but different subj" there are several tree silhouettes, all trees, but different kinds of trees.

This is my friend's cat, the same one two pictures before this one, but I used an impressionistic technique on it. His blue eyes still come out very prominently and beautifully.
What's the difference between a piano and a fish?
You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

The skinnier of the two evergreen trees looks pretty unhealthy. It is doing OK, but was in a bad fire last year. If you look through the fence and see some pale gray lines, they go to nearby electricity pylons and carry monstrous amounts of volts? voltage? I don't know the correct term. They were not really the subject of this particular image.

If you like my word "rainting" I would appreciate it if you would go to Urban Dictionary and vote in the square for thumb's up. Even if it only got 5 or 10 thumb's up and no thumbs down, I would appreciate it. I don't think it has any certain amount it has to get to be in their dictionary. In fact, if I read it correctly, it already got approved and is in.
I don't like to put live links too often but here is a link you can use, I think. There is no prize either, just bragging rights to have a word I coined make it into a dictionary. ;o)

This picture is SOOC. I re-sized it, but not changing any dimensions, composition or colors, and I added my thin white border and copyright-initials. My actual image is right out of my camera. The rainting part of my image is explained above. The movement was purposeful. When I took the picture I thought it would be fun to intentionally move my camera. I love the way this one came out.

I found this on an old charm bracelet. I'm guessing at least 20 years old, and more likely 30 to 40 years old. Although I can't hear any noise, it seems like it has a tiny clapper and that it is some sort of little bell. Does anyone recognize the symbol and the type of little charm? Oh, at widest point it is about 7/8th inch across. Thanks.

Especially with some of the 90 Degree weather we've had here in Oregon some times, it was nice to jut sit down. That's the *soul* of this photo.

This was a more than plain, clear plastic bag with laundry in it. I liked the folds and the knot, and enhanced it some, emphasized the blues and gave it an overall oil paint technique from a photo program.
For Dave C., Hi, I was going to be silly and say there is *knot* really a soul to this photo, but actually there is one. It went from drab and plain to something really rather pleasant to look at. And people could ponder why the knot looks like it does. Wishing you well Dave from Delina

My picture was actually taken almost 10 years ago (2006), but it was pretty blah. In May of 2016, I worked with it, enhanced it, and made it artistic. I think it turned out rather charming and is best viewed at least medium large. I found the original plainer one and posted it together with this version in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

Part of vehicle blocking the view and rain on the window also doing the same. I definitely shot this on the fly from inside of a moving vehicle.
This was a cell-phone shot, but I put it in my computer to add the thin border and lost the EXIF data.

NOTE to Myself: When it is spring or almost spring and the trees start to leaf out, go back near 30th & Main St. and see if I can tell what kind of tree this is.
I went back 071617 and took a pic what I believe is the same tree and I think it is a maple tree or maybe sweet gum. See tree post on 072917.I'm going to put both pics in my Comparison & Resemblance (album).

Specifically chosen for the Our Daily Challenge group theme of turn or turning, but of course I'm hoping some of you others will also enjoy it.
Please let it load for 1 or 2 seconds more than you normally do for most images. Often, it will get more clear.
For Dave C., the *soul* is not only is the covered bridge itself quite lovely and interesting, but the view *through* the other side is remarkable.

I put these two sunset and silhouettes shots together in my Comparison & Resemblance (album) because I'm hoping my viewers will tell me if they prefer the one with more saturation or less saturation. I'd tell you which one I prefer, but I don't want to influence anyone (not yet anyway).
