I passed this barn while traveling some back roads near Empire. The late afternoon sun made it challenging to photograph. I really like its design and the weathered red painted wood. Although it's hard to see, there's also a nice vintage gas pump sitting to the right.

Its name is of Latin origin, composed of "equi" (horse) and "setum" (tail), that is, ponytail. Here in Brazil it is known as "Cavalinha".
This plant is considered to be over 300 million years old, making it comparatively one of the oldest forms of plant life in the world.

Taken at Camp Harkness. There used to be several older horses and other animals at the barns here, but a couple of years ago when I got back from a trip, they were gone. Not sure what happened - perhaps it got too expensive or there weren't enough volunteers?
