The moment this large stag decided to run towards my hiding place ..do i stand and run? or do i stay hidden in the bracken? I decided to stay put as he came ever closer and lucky for me he veered off to my right and i'm certain he never saw me.
Probably the closest i've ever been to a stag on the moor.
Only two sailors never ran aground. One never left port and the other was an atrocious liar
This vessel ran aground in 1986, it could not be towed out to sea again so the unfortunate owner had to have it cut up for scrap!

It is amazing how fast a Polar Bear can run. In this photo, the bear ran by me at a gait, not full speed, and the gait was amazingly fast. I'm thinking, if a polar bear wants a human and the human is out without protection, the polar bear will win 100% of the time.
at least 15 mph. Glad I was in the safety of a vehicle, however, the glass and sheet metal would just slow the bear down.
This shot is from a few months ago - about the time that I disappeared. Hoping to be back at this point, although a lot of catching up. Nothing bad happened, just time with family, then around-the-house maintenance projects in preparation for fall/winter. Did get out a few times in the last week with the camera - really missed it!
(Kassina senegalensis) Kassina is a genus of hyperoliid frogs, commonly referred to as running frogs or kassinas. They are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. They are characterized by preferring a distinctive "walking" with the back legs instead of the more traditional frog-hopping.
This is one of the project I always wanted to work on which is capturing the squirrels mid-air. It was a dark day so very high ISO and noise and not as sharp as I would like it to be. It doesn't matter at this point as I will redo that on a sunny day.... Not a great sharp picture but fun anyway.
CN 559 makes the move to the other end of it's short 3 car train to shove out off the D lead back on T1 at Halwest.
Northshore Mining 652, 651, and 650 bring the afternoon empties under Railfan Rock near Beaver Bay, MN on June 16, 2002.
By the time I moved up north in 2001 and shot the NSM more frequently, this trio was usually in charge of the road ore trains although I got the older EMDs a few times. Eventually, NSM would get leaser 40s along with bigger road units, making 650-652 more likely to be found on the tailings trains instead of these ore runs they were purchased for.
Northshore Mining faces an uncertain future as they wind down operations for an upcoming May 1st shutdown. Owner Cliffs decided to idle NSM until at least the fall but it's far from a certainty that NSM will come back then. It's been reported for years that there will eventually be not enough blast furnace demand for all current six pellet plants in Minnesota. It looks like in this round that Minorca was the winner as Cliffs decided to keep them going through the summer instead of NSM.

A woman walks into my frame. A whimsically unintentional shot at a public exhibition of photography along the banks of the Seine in Paris.
With apologies to Anne Speltz.. I think this shot has an artsy flair to it.
