This was taken as a dry run for a shoot I have lined up with a Triumph Bonneville.
Aim:
To have the motorbike on a completely black background with a very soft overhead light highlighting the curves and shape of the bike and not necessarily showing all the detail. I went looking around on the net to see if I could find anyone who had done something similar, I found an interesting article by Roberto Bigano on lighting classic Bugattis.
Result:
Although happy with this as a dry run there is a lot to work on here. There's plenty of areas where the light isn't right. I may need to work on bg separation more if I want the completely black background.
Method / Strobist Info:
This is 2 bulb exposures combined in Photoshop. During both exposures I fired a strobe (SB25 at 1/16 power through white umbrella) 3 times from back left of bike and 3 times from back right (to try and separate it from the black background). I then fired it a number of times above and about 20cm in front of the bike pointing down. (See setup photo).
Findings:
- I'm going to need some black material to park the bike on or else spend a week in Photoshop =P.
- It is very difficult to 'slightly tweak' the light when you are firing the strobe in different places every time.
- I may have to blend multiple exposures bringing the best of each in to get the light the way I want it.
- I could do with a studio =P Waiting until it's dark gets quite late this time of year and trying to find somewhere where you wont disturb anyone with flashes at 10pm is difficult.
- Clean the bike! I haven't cleaned mine in a while and it's covered in winter muck ={

Saw this dog romping by the breakwaters off East Coast Park during a test shoot. Used a vintage Tamron 200-400mm f/5.6 (at 400mm) while trying out diffrent shutter speeds and aperture settings.

Hemlock swamp at the headwaters of Halfway Run, Bald Eagle State Forest, Union County, within the Halfway Run Natural Area.
Halfway Run is a small, fast-flowing stream in a heavily forested mountain valley east of R.B. Winter State Park. Tannins and other dissolved organic acids give the water its rich golden-brown color.
The Oblation Run is an annual tradition of the members of the Alpha Phi Omega, one of the prominent U.P. fraternities. Members of the fraternity run around the campus naked (a concept known as streaking) to protest their sentiments about a current political or economic situation. The run started in 1977 to protest the banning of the movie, “Hubad na Bayani,” which depicted human rights abuses in the martial law era.[5]
Contrary to popular belief, neophytes are forbidden to run.

Path along the river, and the color just keeps getting better! I missed it last year since I didn't move here till November, I'm enjoying all the color this year away from the big city! :)
Yesterday I did my 5 mile barefoot beach run from the South Mission Beach Jetty to Crystal Pier and back. I simply wore hiking shorts, a WWE Local Crew T-Shirt from my days as an IATSE Stagehand, and my large fishing hat to keep the sun off.
This was my first run in training for the 2020 San Diego Rock N' Roll Marathon. I just want to finish it and then the following year place in my age division... even better win my age division. I was on the press truck for the very first Rock N' Roll ever. It's amazing how this race has expanded throughout the world!

RUN WILD
Over the shoulder of the now collapsed Transfiguration Church that sits on Sycamore in Buffalo. Probably the most prolific building in Buffalo right now that was epic when it was intact and now even more iconic as it sits vacant and in repair by the current tenants next door.
I've been all over this church multiple times many years ago. Sad to see her go, but also glad nobody was hurt in its collapse.
Well, the zombie apocalypse has begun.
Amazing what a couple hours in photoshop and lightroom can get you. I'm really wanting to put together some more stylish type images. Of course this one is a little the top but it's really good practice in PS. Probably my creepiest self-portrait. Tell me what you guys think.
