The concept of "Running Your Race" may not be as easily understood as it should be.
To "Run Your Race" means to attempt to achieve your goals while staying within your capabilities. It is to push yourself, but not so hard that you bonk, and not so easily that you finish with too much gas in the tank. It is not be seduced by the temptation to run with runners who are too fast or too slow. It is to find the balance that enables you to be happy at the end and during the process.
It is, quite simply, not easy to do, but the more you run, the better you know what your race means.
I have posted some of these before but I felt like sharing some of these photos of Toula, our beloved Labrador who sadly passed away on Friday 4th.
Despite still having another four dogs at home, the silence has been deafening without Toula.
I'll be adding more about Toula on my website blog in the coming days.

(Run Around - Blues Traveler)
Run, run, run, run
You better make your face up in
Your favorite disguise
With your button down lips and your
Roller blind eyes
With your empty smile
And your hungry heart
Feel the bile rising from your guilty past
With your nerves in tatters
When the cockleshell shatters
And the hammers batter
Down the door
You better run
Run, run, run, run (repeat line four times)
You better run all day
And run all night
And keep your dirty feelings
Deep inside. And if your
Takin' your girlfriend
Out tonight
You better park the car
Well out of sight
'Cos if they catch you in the back seat
Trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to mother
In a cardboard box
You better run

I'm sure there's some sort of commentary about me leaving my youth or irresponsibility behind here, but I can't quite articulate it.
More SOOC because I'm lazy & pressed for time.

I was on-assignment for iRun Magazine this past Sunday covering the Ottawa Army Run. The first wave was a 5K run of individuals and soldiers, many of whom had lost a limb.
Running 5KM with one (or no) leg(s) before most of us woke up - that's determination.

Jones Run Falls - Shenandoah National Park, Virginia (South District)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
42 ft height. Mile 84.1 along Skyline Drive, Jones Run parking area. 3.4 mile (5.5 km) round trip hike. One of the easier waterfalls to reach at Shenandoah National Park but has a moderately steep climb of 915 ft. when returning.
You may also opt for the 7.8-mile loop hike, which connects with the two Doyles River Falls.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is also an archives rework (HDR) - went on this particular waterfall hike on my birthday with my good friend Amy, who has accompanied me on many of my hikes at SNP, and has tagged along for a few Black Bear adventures as well. In fact, we encountered a Sow with 2 small rowdy cubs during this hike, couldn't get any photos due to the density of the area so I opted for a short video clip instead (see it on YouTube).
3 brackets (-2 | 0 | +2) merged and lightly tone mapped, no crop
I uploaded this one a bit larger than what I normally do - view it large in the lightbox
THANKS FOR VIEWING!

In my free time, I confuse the populous by running on walls.
(Actually, I do that in my non-free time, but it's less confusing because there's a trampoline involved. No trampolines were used for this picture, though.)
