Jones Run Falls - Shenandoah National Park, Virginia (South District)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
42 ft height. Mile 84.1 along Skyline Drive, Jones Run parking area. 3.4 mile (5.5 km) round trip hike. One of the easier waterfalls to reach at Shenandoah National Park but has a moderately steep climb of 915 ft. when returning.
You may also opt for the 7.8-mile loop hike, which connects with the two Doyles River Falls.

This one is also an archives rework (HDR) - went on this particular waterfall hike on my birthday with my good friend Amy, who has accompanied me on many of my hikes at SNP, and has tagged along for a few Black Bear adventures as well. In fact, we encountered a Sow with 2 small rowdy cubs during this hike, couldn't get any photos due to the density of the area so I opted for a short video clip instead (see it on YouTube).

She is amazing!
There is something free, beautiful and spirited about her. Sometimes she runs with her eyes closed!!!.
(i catch myself telling her to open them- it is CRAZY to run with your eyes shut!!) but then i think no... let her go, the world seems to meet her and she is just fine.

Swimmers and tubers enjoying the cool waters of Blue Spring Run as it works its way towards the St. Johns River at Blue Spring State Park. Contrary to the name, the spring and its run actually takes on a fairly green hue.
The state park serves as a recreation area centered on water activities in the summer but it is best known for providing opportunities to see countless manatees taking refuge in the winter. The spring waters are a constant temperature throughout the year, while the nearby St. Johns River fluctuates depending on air temperature, hence the large numbers of manatees that make Blue Spring Run a winter home.
I have only visited the spring this once, in the summer, and found it my favorite Florida spring to swim at. Unlike most other springs I've been to, which either limit swimming to one small area of the spring run or have paved sidings which make the spring essentially a large swimming pool, swimmers at Blue Spring can follow the spring run for hundreds of yards with the run only being closed as it draws near to the St. Johns River. This type of freedom to explore the water is something I always envisioned springs being like when I was a child.
