for three days every two or so years a circus festival is held in the midst of an amazing private farm, a home... the home of one of the greatest men i've ever met, i can never thank him or his volunteers enough for their tireless, reward less effort they put into this incredible event...

Kaprekar's routine is an iterative algorithm that works thusly: take any 4 digit number that has at least two distinct digits. (In other words you cannot use 2222 or 6666 or 9999, etc.) For our example we'll use 1949. Arrange the digits into descending order (9941) and ascending order (1499). Subtract the smaller second number from the first: 9941-1499 = 8442. Now arrange those digits into descending and ascending order, as before, and again subtract the second from the first. 8442-2448 = 5994. Repeat: 9954-4599 = 5355. Again: 5553-3555 = 1978. Again: 9871-1789 = 8082. Again: 8820-0288 = 8532. Finally: 8532-2358 = 6174.
Any four-digit number as described above will terminate at 6174 within seven iterations. The Wikipedia entry for Kaprekar's routine uses 8991 as the starting number; it reaches 6174 in only three iterations. The Wikipedia article on D.R. Kaprekar starts with the number 1234. It too reaches 6174 after just three iterations.
D.R. Kaprekar was a school teacher, born in India in 1905, died there 1986.
my monday routine is to drive back from our mall-walk and take a run up some streets in affluent neighborhoods to take pics of their interesting trash for the TTT (trash talk tuesday) group. i was beating the trashmen by a beat so the light you see is the light you get.
no, i was not tempted to take it to the donation center :) there is just so much i am willing to do to keep things out of land-fills. ~grin~

Most of life is routine - dull and grubby, but routine is the momentum that keeps a man going.

ODC: ROUTINE...Walk and take some photos...it was easy over the weekend where the bluebells were blooming
My morning routine card--the first thing I do every day. Note the infinity sign in the corner--that's how I tag my recurring cards so I remember to stick them at the back of the next action stack (if daily) or in the appropriate tickler slot (if weekly or monthly).

Daily routine can be a very boring thing, I do most of mine in the morning on autopilot. I'll admit this was taken at 4pm, but my point still remains....
