Oct. 18, 2021: Owner Archie Lewis. Stop at the Lewis Antique Auto and Toy Museum located on Route 66 in Moriarty, New Mexico. Owner Archie Lewis has been collecting toys and autos since the 1940s. In 2004, Lewis put his collection on display as a museum/antique auto junkyard. He has hundreds of toys and about 40 restored vehicles in a large warehouse. Hundreds of additional vehicles sit outside on his eight acres.

The flemish group which we met a few days before, stayed the night also in the Gappohytta, although in a different building. They left a little bit earlier, we went a little bit faster. Here we are on the white plain and we went through a monochrome landscape in which all colours were taken away.

At an altitude of 3905 m, the Kupup Lake or Elephant Lake is one of the most scenic high altitude lakes on Old Silk Route, Sikkim, India. Located very close to the Indo-Chinese border, it is one of the most sacred lakes of Sikkim, with high mountains and valleys bordering it. It is the source of the river Jaldhaka.
In dull light, ex-LMS 'Black Five' 45212 accelerates its heavy train (12 coaches and an idling class 47 diesel) past Shalford Junction, taking the Portsmouth Direct route - a very challenging line for a class 5 steam loco - on the morning of 5 December 2017. The destination for the train was Bath, via Southampton and Salisbury, having originated from Alresford on the Mid-Hants Railway.
The relentless pursuit of likes and comments on the Instagram (yes, "the" Instagram) gets me down sometimes, and it's become apparent that the stuff people want to see is not photos of streetcars and ferries and cityscapes (the stuff I like to post); they want to see pictures of people. Or the algorithm is burying posts that don't have people, and pushing posts that do. Or they just want to see pictures of the bébé, and it feels like my art (my photography) doesn't matter anymore.
But I read something yesterday that said to keep making art even when no one cares. So I continue. And people on Flickr seem to like my art, so that's something.
I also remember that it doesn't really give lasting happiness if one of my pics gets a lot more likes than usual. I like when that happens, but it doesn't bring about a lasting sense of satisfaction. I always want more. I am pseudo-addicted to social media and that's the way they want it to be. I bet some of you are, too.
In any case, meaningful comments mean more to me than likes.

This railway bridge near Rifle Range Road is one of the few places along the former Tanjong Pagar to Woodlands railway route that had its railway tracks preserved as part of the Rail Corridor project.
It is no longer in use as rail service to Malaysia now terminates at Woodlands Train Checkpoint instead of Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.
Another lo-fi film night shot from that first desert night shoot back in 1989. Essex, CA.
Yes, it really is a painted wood Route 66 sign (intentionally shot so the moonlight would enhance the grain). This was a genuine CA DOT highway marker, not some home made tribute sign. I wanted to pinch this, but didn't have proper tools. At the time I didn't really realize how incredibly rare this item was, or I would have tried harder. There are no more original Route 66 signs still on the road. Due to constant theft, they were replaced with painted logos on the highway.
Night, full moon, outdated 160T film, 8 minute exposure. Ambient light only.
On a rather damp Saturday 23 November 2019, London bus route 140 Harrow-Heathrow celebrated its history and marked its imminent shortening by supplementing 15 heritage buses into the existing service. This meant Volvo / Wright Gemini buses (and a solitary Plaxton President) were joined by 8 RTs, 5 Routemasters and 2 Metrobuses for the day.
My visit included photo stops at Hayes, Heathrow and Harrow Weald taking advantage of free rides aboard RM1397, M1069 and RT2177.
Oct. 15, 2021: A former Exxon gas station on Route 66 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, closed for over a decade.
Birmingham Central operated route 97 is still in the hands of 20 route branded Tridents from the 2003 intake (4455-4475). Here 4455 and 4472 are seen waiting time on Moor Street before heading out to Chelmsley Wood.
Birmingham 11/01/2020.
Not as famous as Route 66, but is magical in its own way. The Route 53 overpass east of Cresson, PA has long been a location favorite. It is one of the few places where you can still see the Broadway of Steel still in it's Pennsy mainline configuration. Dumping the large amount of tonnage off the Cresson and Irvona branch in the middle of the grade required lots of infrastructure to get those trains over the mountain without significantly impacting the already heavy mainline traffic (That was already swelled with eastbound tonnage from South Fork and Sonman branches). Flyovers, duck unders, 4, 5 and 6 track mainlines in some cases were a trademark of heavy PRR railroading in Western and Central PA.

See it bigger.

Signals of the CTC Tennessee Pass Route at Granite, Colorado stand guard for the possibility that a train may one day traverse the rails again between Dotsero and Pueblo. Of course, at this point, the signals would likely just be replaced.
Route 166 which was operated by Maidstone & District between Chatham Bus Station and Lords Wood was still in the hands of full sized buses when I photographed 5854 (BKE 854T) on May 28th 1993. IF REPOSTING THIS PHOTO TO A FACEBOOK GROUP PLEASE CREDIT WITH MY NAME. THANKS.
The Wigwam motel in Holbrook on Route 66 at sunset. They have quite a few American classic cars parked around the motel grounds to remember the heyday of Route 66.

Go-Ahead ordered new StreetLites for route 192 when they took over the operations from their Northumberland Park (NP) garage in November 2014.
Go-Ahead London WS36 and WS44 are seen on stand at Enfield, Little Park Gardens both working route 192.
