On a rather damp Saturday 23 November 2019, London bus route 140 Harrow-Heathrow celebrated its history and marked its imminent shortening by supplementing 15 heritage buses into the existing service. This meant Volvo / Wright Gemini buses (and a solitary Plaxton President) were joined by 8 RTs, 5 Routemasters and 2 Metrobuses for the day.

My visit included photo stops at Hayes, Heathrow and Harrow Weald taking advantage of free rides aboard RM1397, M1069 and RT2177.

Plenty of Interesting history along Route 66

Another lo-fi film night shot from that first desert night shoot back in 1989. Essex, CA.

Yes, it really is a painted wood Route 66 sign (intentionally shot so the moonlight would enhance the grain). This was a genuine CA DOT highway marker, not some home made tribute sign. I wanted to pinch this, but didn't have proper tools. At the time I didn't really realize how incredibly rare this item was, or I would have tried harder. There are no more original Route 66 signs still on the road. Due to constant theft, they were replaced with painted logos on the highway.

Night, full moon, outdated 160T film, 8 minute exposure. Ambient light only.

A special running day to commemorate London 140 on Saturday 23rd November. From Saturday 7th Dec it will no longer go to Heathrow Airport, though there will be a replacement limited-stop service.

RT4779 did a complete through trip from Heathrow to Mill Hill, the original terminus. Nowadays this is route 114, hence the blinds. However the display is just about to be changed to '140 Harrow Weald Garage via Christchurch Road'

Signals of the CTC Tennessee Pass Route at Granite, Colorado stand guard for the possibility that a train may one day traverse the rails again between Dotsero and Pueblo. Of course, at this point, the signals would likely just be replaced.

Seen in ADL Plaxton Scarborough Works, unusual to see two buses blinded for a 9xx route together!

Route 166 which was operated by Maidstone & District between Chatham Bus Station and Lords Wood was still in the hands of full sized buses when I photographed 5854 (BKE 854T) on May 28th 1993. IF REPOSTING THIS PHOTO TO A FACEBOOK GROUP PLEASE CREDIT WITH MY NAME. THANKS.

A temporary route that ran between Lewisham and Catford via Manwood Road. The usual 284 couldn't go that way due to a temporary width restriction. The 584 was operated by 7'6" wide buses. Stagecoach had to scratch about to find anything suitable and drafted in this SR from East London. May 2001.

Service 69 has seen a route alteration with services now coming off Inchview Terrace and operating via Wakefield Avenue - Natwich Drive - Fillyside Terrace - Craigentinny Avenue before joining back on at Moira Terrace.

A D&RGW Mixed Train drifts south along the Animas River en route from Silverton to Durango. The train is about a mile north of the Needleton Tank and is crossing the site of one of the many rock and mud slides that have plagued the Silverton Branch through its 130 years of operation. Although most photos of the contemporary Durango & Silverton tourist trains depict the hefty K-36 Locomotives, the little C-18 Consolidation that you see here is much more typical of the size and weight of the locomotives for which this line was originally built and which handled the trains for much of its history.
