We drove up next to this frosty Roughie on the freeway and put on our hazards and shut the car off to eliminate any heat haze in the minus temps. This individual gave us a lot of time to take shots at point blank range. :) click for large view.
Red skies at night , sailors delight , red skies in the morning sailors take warning. Looks like a nice day coming up.

Local tracks are often rough and used only by freight trains traveling at very slow speeds.

One of my takes from a weekend trip out to Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor, lots to see in the surrounding area too which is always a bonus plus lots of information/history to read about, a worthwhile visit as there were some nice moody sky's coming and going which always holds my interest and is my favourite weather for Moorland Photography, hoping to return again soon so I can visit Brown Willy and experience some Moor of Bodmin's delights.

The last half of the drive to Craig Lake got a bit rough and was slow going, but the van handled it very well!
Melaleuca parviceps is a spreading or erect shrub, up to 1 m high. Young shoots are densely hairy. Leaves are elongate, round or elliptical in cross-section, 20-25 mm long, and pointed at the end; initially hairy but becoming hairless with prominent glands. Flowers occur in globular heads at the end of branchlets. The floral tube, sepals and petals are less than 4 mm long. The stamens are bright pink to purple and in bundles 10-20 mm long. The buds are pinkish brown and shiny. Fruit a woody capsule, 3-5 mm across with sunken valves. Grows in shallow soil on granite and on lateritic soils. Previously included with M. scabra but that species only occurs on the south coast of WA.
On my way back home from this afternoon's walk it was getting a little rough out at sea with the wind picking up! It was then a race to get home before the rain!!
I just made it!!

CN L546 North clings to the rocky shores of Howe Sound near Porteau Cove, BC as dusk falls on the Lower Mainland's most scenic railway. Constructed by the Pacific Great Eastern Railway in 1956, the Squamish Subdivision is an engineering marvel. Blasted through rough granite boulders, the line runs entirely along the coast of Howe Sound from North Vancouver to Squamish, BC.
I decided to lay down on the beach to amplify the waves for this shot. Little did I know that seconds after this shot I would get soaked from a rogue wave. Yikes, what we do for photographs!
Sunsets over calm water are very pretty , but the ones over rough water have a beauty of their own. The spray from the water and the wet rocks reflect the beauty from the sun.

Helianthus divaricatus, commonly known as the rough sunflower, woodland sunflower, or rough woodland sunflower, is a North American species perennial herb in the composite family. It is native to central and eastern North America, from Ontario and Quebec in the north, south to Florida and Louisiana and west to Oklahoma and Iowa. It commonly occurs in dry, relatively open sites. The showy yellow flowers emerge in summer through early fall.

Cantabria, Spain.
Wind, waves, amazing rock formations and sunrise. It was quite a rough morning in Cantabria’s Playa de Porto. But the views were breathtaking.
