Yep, this clover had a really rough life. Whenever someone came to visit, they said: "Meh, you only have three leaves. Three! Unbearable. Four is beautiful, four means luck! Go away."
And with every abuse the clover lost some substance. It was then he met a photographer, someone who looked behind its outer appearance. Just try the same, look closely: Catch a glimpse of its grace!
Beautiful Sliders Sunday everyone!

Photographed in Kittitas County near Ellensburg, Washington. I like to find these birds on a fence post or on the ground in the snow but the 3 Rough-legged hawks that I saw were all on tall telephone poles. IMG_2082

Holme Fen, Cambridgeshire. Juvenile female - been around for two months now faithful to the same area north of Tower Farm. Came in to view at 10.50 and hunted, ranging quite widely but coming in close a couple of times. Light was perfect for once. Here - about to give me a flyover.
Rough meadows wildlife sanctuary is a marsh area around Rowley, north of Boston. The name is not false advertising, although I enjoyed the trail. At some point, I passed a warning sign about the tide possibly making it difficult to cross the river (up to an extra foot of water). I ignored this warning, thinking that in 30 min that I was on the trail, I should be Ok on the way back. They weren't kidding. On the way back, there was no way of jumping over the river, as I had on the way out. Ultimately, I made my way downriver and found a place to cross, but it was quite an adventure.
Happy Monday all!
It may be late at night but at least I'm here. Even if I'm a little roughed up.

Storm-driven waves at Kismet, Fire Island National Seashore, New York It was not a day for swimming, even if it was warmer. I like the mist in the air above the crashing waves and the two distant fishermen who give a sense of the scale of the waves.-- October 7, 2024
This dark morph Rough Legged Hawk has been hanging out not far from home with 3 other light morphs all winter. It has been a joy watching them hunt, even though they usually stay far enough away that photos are about impossible. I finally caught this guy just a little closer.
The name "Rough-legged" Hawk refers to the feathered legs. The Rough-legged Hawk, the Ferruginous Hawk, and the Golden Eagle are the only American raptors to have legs feathered all the way to the toes.
This month is a hard one to experience. The Holidays are officially over, and winter is starting to get boring & dirtier than its previous falls. People are acting differently because of their personal goals and setbacks from last year. Then...We're all conditioned to feel desired and loved within this month especially & to show and give it in return with chocolate and roses. It's supposed to revive us! Make us ready for the year to come. The hard truth is even people who receive such things aren't actually going to experience those feelings.
I have no doubt in my mind there is a man who will look forward to giving you the world, every day. If anyone could find & deserve him, it would be you. I'm not sure where you'd find chocolates and roses as big as the world, but he must have some special talent for you to choose him. Ha. I hope he makes you smile with the smallest of words & phrases.
Look up into the stars for the next couple of nights, it will be the last chance to see the comet, it's once in a lifetime. I'm sure it's looking right back at only you, thinking the same. If you feel any discomfort this month or you find yourself missing these feelings as we all do sometimes. Navigate yourself to the bull made of stone.
So here it is babe, I wish you the sweetest and most loving Valentine's Day when it comes. I hope it's filled with respect, protection, humor, and memorable love. I hope it feels like once in a lifetime, every day you open your eyes. This was all created, written & dedicated to only you, Aubrei. You are Loved.

As we continue our drive towards the Spanish Peaks, the road became too snow covered for a safe drive. So, we turned and headed away from the Peaks. Off in the distance is Mt Mestas and Rough Mountain. It's a lot further than it looks. A drive for another day perhaps.

Local tracks are often rough and used only by freight trains traveling at very slow speeds.

One of my takes from a weekend trip out to Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor, lots to see in the surrounding area too which is always a bonus plus lots of information/history to read about, a worthwhile visit as there were some nice moody sky's coming and going which always holds my interest and is my favourite weather for Moorland Photography, hoping to return again soon so I can visit Brown Willy and experience some Moor of Bodmin's delights.
