Thanks to all who comment or mark as a favorite it really is much appreciated.

I took this photo and then realised that Merlin looked like a perfect reflection of Morgan. I probably could not replicate this photo if I tried.

Dark phase Rough-legged Hawk...Not looking for me ...Lol !

Thank you very much for your kind comments, favorites and looking and please stay safe !

The rocky beach of Cozumel, Mexico’s eastern shore.

As we drove around 17-Mile-Drive on the Monterey Peninsula of California, we passed by this green on a golf course on the Pacific Ocean. The vegetation in the rough on this par 3 looked unforgiving.

Old country roads in the middle of Kansas can be a rough ride.

Am I the only one who hopes for a tornado when driving in weather like this? Taking a picture of a tornado is at the top of my photo bucket list.

50 MPH Winds at the lake this morning.

Little heat shimmer, but any shot of this bird for me is a plus !

Not the usual habitat, but this one is catching Pigeons at the massive grain terminal here.

This Buteo has feathers covering the legs down to its feet which are smaller than those of the other Buteo species.

These features are thought to be adaptations for life in cold climates.

It is these leg feathers that gave rise to the name "Rough-legged Hawk". In Europe, this species is called "Rough-legged Buzzard"

The volcanic coastline of El Hiero is truly impressive. One can feel the elements very close. Image taken at Cala de Tacorón, El Hierro 2016.

Unsuccessful strike. Sturgeon County, Alberta.

VOLENDAM - Het Markermeer ontstond na het voltooien van de Houtribdijk tussen Enkhuizen en Lelystad (1976)

VOLENDAM - The Marker Lake was created after the completion of the Houtribdijk between Enkhuizen and Lelystad (1976)

Some of these guys stayed all winter this year despite its extreme harshness. The prey situation must have been very good.

This was fun.... Trying to catch these Rough-Winged Swallows going in and out of their nesting cavity while holding my lens over top of them. Talk about awkward and crazy, as there was a gnarly drop down off the bridge into the creek.

The Rough-legged Hawk is one of our Winter visitors in the northern states and raptors that are a part of winter birding in Michigan. These hawks can be found in open fields or open areas next to forests. They breed on the northern edge of North America and can be found in a good deal of the Lower 48 during winter. I spotted this bird on my way to a waste treatment plant where I hoped to find a flock of Ross's Geese. The time was about 8 AM, and the sun was rising and the temperature was cold. The bird was perched far enough from the road that it didn't flush when I parked.

I later found 17 Ross's Geese, but they were too far from the shore to provide a usable photo.

There was heavy surf off the coast 2 days ago as a result of Hurricane Sam which passed well east of us.

Tired old truck just perfect for a photograph. Spotted in Invermere, BC.

I spent most of the day yesterday self isolated in my car driving around Beaver County in dull snowy weather mainly looking for these guys who are migrating through on their way to their tundra breeding ground.

I also posted a shot of a Skunk I spotted along the way.

Beaver County, Alberta.

Wish you all a quiet start into the new week!

Isamu Noguchi respected nature. He could choose a piece of stone and communicate with it as we do with human beings. What do I see inside you? What do you want from me? How can I 'liberate' your potential?

Noguchi always sought a balance between nature and culture. Sometimes crude interventions with powerful tools were enough to turn a rough boulder into a cracking sculpture.

Der Aufstieg zu den Quarksteinen bei Niedercrinitz.

Photographed in Kittitas County, Washington on a very fogy day. The fog is obvious in most of the photos I took that day. I picked a bad day. I was searching for Short-eared Owls that were reported a few day earlier but did not find them. I did find a large number of Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks.

Haithabu / Schleswig-Holstein / Germany

Haithabu (Hedeby) was an important Viking city in the Middle Ages (8th to the 11th centuries) and now an UNESCO World Heritage Site with open-air museum. Before and after this time, it was just a beautiful piece of land.
