I grew up enjoying rootbeer popsicles but you never see them anymore! Took them over the edge so I turned them into rootbeer floats. Easy & delicious: www.suziethefoodie.com/rootbeer-float-popsicles/
See the thin cracks running through the top... And the edges are *extremely* sharp - must be sanded.
Cut using a bucket of water (sink or bathtub would work too), nail polish remover (the acetone type), string or yarn, and a lighter or matches.
There are videos on YouTube.com - but for a quick run through, here's how we did this:
1) gather your supplies.
2) wrap string around bottle 5-6 times and tie in a knot.
3) slip off and soak in acetone.
4) slide the string back onto the bottle about where you'd like it to break.
5) holding vertical over your water source, light the string.
-- be careful, if you have acetone on the bottle (drips) or on your hands, they'll flash with flame too.
6) continually turn bottle to keep flame even all around.
7) when flame starts to die out, submerge in water.
If everything goes correctly, it will crack apart.
I did this 3 times before we finally got it to work - the first 2 times I don't think we had enough string wrapped around the bottle.
Here's a piece of jewelry that's perfect for summer and can be worn as either a necklace or an anklet.
This necklace is crocheted from white hemp cord, strung with brown and cream colored beads and a matching shell. At the center is a swirl-shaped shell bead, on either side of that are two large wood discs, there are four small round wood beads, two cream colored beads with a black moon and star design (I think these may be bone, but they could also be plastic- they weren't marked), and two cream colored and two brown colored plastic pony beads.
The entire necklace is about 41" (104.1 cm) long (including extra cord to tie with where it isn't crocheted), but the crocheted, thicker part is about 22" (55.9 cm). You tie the necklace in the back, so it can fit any size neck, and can be worn tighter or looser (personally I usually wear this style as a choker).

I do and I think that this dates me. I didn't grow up here in rural West Virginia where I now live, but I used to visit every summer. When I was little my grandfather used to take me to town. If my cousins came with us, we would ride in the back of his pick up truck. If it was just the two of us, I would sit up front and he would let me drive the last little bit up the mountain to the farm (sitting on his lap steering). After we finished whatever errands he had to do, we would get an ice cream at Jurgen's drugstore. He would always get a rootbeer float and I would get a big dish of chocolate ice cream.
Jurgen's has been gone for many many years. A little lunch cafe was here until last year still serving ice cream at the original fountain counter. It was a favorite spot for my daughter and I to have our monthly lunches at. Now the space houses a sewing shoppe. This rusty old sign is all that is left except the memories.

One of my fav places to eat in the world, Nip N Sip. Me and my appetite are personally responsible for this joint staying in business all these years. LOL
Seriously, my usual Doubleburger, Onion Rings and Frosty Root Beer are fantastic!

I remember going by here years ago and I just happened to be in the area while I was out shooting some trains. Sure enough it was still there. Wonder what year this dates back to. Photo by michaelpoulin@verizon.net
This building was actually built initially to house the city's second A&W Rootbeer Restaurant. Interestingly enough, A&W claimed to have closed because they were unable to find enough employees to operate the business. Wendy's occupied the building not long after.
Wendy's previously had a different location further south on the same street, but it closed a couple years prior to this one opening. This is one of three Wendy's restaurants in Bismarck.
State Street is one of Bismarck's busiest roads, named for its close proximity to the State Capitol. It becomes U.S. Highway 83 north of Interstate 94 until ending in Minot. Through most of Bismarck, State Street is a 6-lane divided road.
I just went to the store next door to get some rootbeer. I was never a fan of rootbeer at all..and in the last couple of months I somehow ??? started craving rootbeer...this was all they had at the store next door..but, there is an even better rootbeer, made by the BOYLAN company . It comes in a dark brown glass bottle. And it is really good. They sell it here in Montreal. A store a few blocks from here has it, but at the moment it is pouring down rain out, and I was too lazy to go...so I got this rootbeer instead at the store next door to my place..
so this concludes my rootbeer story..
:-)
Here is my result after following the rootbeer float cupcake recipe from teamsugar.com/group/30207/recipes/483989. My only regret is that I followed the reassuring advice in the recipe and over filled my liners :( If you make these please follow your own gut when filling!

This little Gem has been closed for quite some time. In its hey-day, this was the place for good food and as always, a Rootbeer Float.
Opening in 1963, it was managed by Mr & Mrs Clifford Romine. It was owned by Mr & Mrs Iley C. Ridling. (sp?)
A&W is from the founder "A" for Allen and partner "W" for Wright, Roy Allen & Frank Wright. For Info on A&W, go here to their website:.. www.awrestaurants.com/heritage/default.asp ...
