It was a beautiful day to visit Russells Point. A laketown in the middle of the Ohio always throws me off due to the fact I live relatively close to the big lake, Erie. My friend Phil spent his summers here and I had a wonderful day with a great tour guide.

I really like this B/W Impossible film, I loved it from the very first version.

er.. ..well, thanks to sadferret for the comment on the previous version and to the three who faved. i thought it best to start over. seems i'm not too comfortable with really flat light, though the idea was ok, just need to try again.

With Robert a couple Wednesdays ago at Three Heads Brewing. Rob thought the food and root beer were wonderful, but one photograph was more than enough. Ah, life with Robert.

Triple XXX Root Beer

When I was at Purdue University, we would occasionally eat at Triple XXX Family Restaurant. They sell their root beer on-line, so I opted to order some.

Still tastes great!

For those of us who care now, one 12 oz. bottle is 160 calories.

Think I like Sonic better. This had such a small amount of ice cream in it. It was tasty though so no complaints.

Having fun with colorful bottle caps.

. . . This is the highest of the water drops for the Lower Falls, near the west side of the Island Trail (as found on page 86-87 and 91 of Phil Stagg's "Waterfalls of Michigan, Book 1") The rich "root beer" color of the water is beautiful in the sunlight!

Have a great week Facebook and Flickr friends!

HMM!

Antique bottle of that once contained rootbeer extract - the colors are from a patina of mineral deposits, probably from sitting in a trash heap somewhere for many decades.

No trip to Starved Rock is complete until a visit to the Rootbeer Stand! shared with pixbuf.com

1932 Ford Street Rod with blown 302.

Taken at the end of the night at the Rootbeer Triple X Driven in issaquah, this is a dynamic shot of the trees in the patio, with some gentle movment of the telephoto over 1 second on a tripod.

One of about 10 shots; I selected this because of the seperation of the trees and the highlight and "movement" of the furniture.

...quiet around here so i am editing old files...winter sucks.

Interesting patterns in the bog water this morning. Cedar water, the water in the bogs, gets froth and very much resembles root beer. In the winter, with periodic freezing, you get mornings like this.

Have a funny story to share about the morning shoot, just not now.

Enjoy!

Take Aim: thirst quenching

Today Granttt73 and I went to the electric car show at XXX Rootbeer in Issaquah, Washington. This Oregon car is famous for the fantastic times it pulls in drag racing.

Camera: Zero Image 2000 Pinhole

Film: Kodak Ektar 100

Exposure Time: 20 minutes

Location: Triple XXX Rootbeer Drive-In - Issaquah, Washington

The Triple XXX Rootbeer Drive-In is the type of place that is so over the top kitschy, that you can't help but fall for its charm. 50's and 60s music playing on the juke box, enough memorabilia and photos on the walls that it would take you days to look at it all, and then there is the delicious milkshakes and burgers.

I found the place quite photogenic, so naturally one photo just wasn't enough. Below in the comment sections are two images I made with the Hasselblad 500c. Also if your wondering what the Zero 6x9 sitting on the edge of the table was doing during this exposure, you can see the results over on my friend and fellow pinhole photographer Jana's photostream here.

This neat old factory building was the Dad's Root Beer plant, and was located along the C&NW tracks in the Avondale area. I wish I had taken a picture of it back when it still had the Dad's Root Beer signage; happily there's this nice webpage with a good photo and more: reliablerascal.com/avondale/

Part of the complex remains intact today, incorporated into a new condo development.
