I spent a warm summer night photographing abandoned buildings in Eastern Oregon. I tried several different compositions of the church before finally settling on one that combined the church and Milky Way just right.
Perseid Meteor Shower 2013
Taken over Golden NM on 8-12-13
The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids are so-called because the point from which they appear to come, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. The name derives in part from the word Perseides, a term found in Greek mythology referring to the sons of Perseus.
The stream of debris is called the Perseid cloud and stretches along the orbit of the comet Swift-Tuttle. The cloud consists of particles ejected by the comet as it travels on its 133-year orbit. Most of the particles have been part of the cloud for around a thousand years. However, there is also a relatively young filament of
dust in the stream that was pulled off the comet in 1865.

Pacific Tower Seattle. Completed in 1932 was a hospital facility for Marines, USCG, Merchant Seamen and indigent people defined as “federal compensation cases”. The building was damaged in the 2001 Nisqually earthquake requiring $6 million in repairs. Used HDR Efex Pro 2 to add a little drama to the shot. Not even the excitement of fresh roofs could lure me back. I reluctantly stood there for hours taking shots, not out of love, but out of routine. Perhaps I will be once again inspired.
Note: I am giving away a HUGE 36x24 print to one lucky winner. More of my shots from above.
There's just so much to explore back in Stafford Forge WMA! I took a little trip into the back portions of the WMA. Amazing wildlife preserve.
Multiple exposures were blended in Photomatix Pro and lens distortion was corrected with PT lens.

Out with a few friends shooting stars south of Ottawa. Greg was running around with a red bike light doing some light painting.
Winter is the only time when such a shot would be possible. Hopefully this rain will freeze up and give us some clean ice to do again this week...
