This image is from when I was walking along Low Hauxley. This was for my photography exam at A-level based on the word 'sublime'. Loved the strong reflection of the rock in the water.

May 1976. Rock Island 48727 was photographed at Leetsdale, Pennsylvania on Conrail. These cars were refurbished from many different roads, this one in particular was from the New York Central and received basic Rock Island lettering.
I was surprised to be the only one in this location behind the bus garage as the CRSA special made its way across the curved bridge over the Rock River in downtown Janesville on 5-7-14. Most fans shot this train on its approach to the bridge, with Tom Williams getting a more broadside shot from the nearby bike path.

Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, also known as Golden Rock) is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State, Burma. It is a small pagoda (7.3 metres (24 ft) built on the top of a granite boulder covered with gold leaves pasted on by devotees. According to legend, the Golden Rock itself is precariously perched on a strand of the Buddha's hair. The balancing rock seems to defy gravity, as it perpetually appears to be on the verge of rolling down the hill. The rock and the pagoda are at the top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo. It is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma after the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Pagoda. A glimpse of the "gravity defying" Golden Rock is believed to be enough of an inspiration for any person to turn to Buddhism.
The legend associated with the pagoda is that the Buddha, on one of his many visits, gave a strand of his hair to Taik Tha, a hermit. The hermit, who had tucked it in the tuft of his hair safely, in turn gave the strand to the king, with the wish that the hair be enshrined in a boulder shaped like the hermit's head. The king had inherited supernatural powers from his father Zawgyi, a proficient alchemist), and his mother, a naga serpent dragon princess. They found the rock at the bottom of the sea. With the help of the Thagyamin, the king of Tawadeintha Heaven in Buddhist cosmology, found the perfect place at Kyaiktiyo for locating the golden rock and built a pagoda, where the strand was enshrined. It is this strand of hair that, according to the legend, prevents the rock from tumbling down the hill. The boat, which was used to transport the rock, turned into a stone. This is also worshiped by pilgrims at a location about 300 metres (980 ft) from the golden rock. It is known as the Kyaukthanban Pagoda or stupa (literal meaning: stone boat stupa).
Legends also mention that pilgrims undertaking the pilgrimage by trekking from the Kinpun base camp three times consecutively in a year will be blessed with wealth and recognition.
Fort Perch Rock is a former defence installation situated at the mouth of Liverpool Bay in New Brighton. Built in the 1820s to defend the Port of Liverpool, its function has changed from defensive, to tourist attraction and museum.
Framed in the wash that leads to the Fire Wave, the Rock of Gibraltar stands out in the morning glow as sunrise approaches. Apparently those who named this rock felt it had a strong resemblance to its famous namesake. It is next to that rock that the trail to the Fire Wave weaves down this way.

Liked the look of these rock textures with the early morning sun, in contrast tittesworth reservoir sits in the misty cool light way below.
The Rock Gardens are a bit lacking in colour at the moment, but I did come across these bright pink flowers. Not sure what they are though - any clever Flickrers know their name? It may be weigela.
I drove down 17 Mile Drive near Monterey today with my daughter. We stopped quite a few times before this stop hoping to find seals to photograph. We stopped here because we saw a restroom and then looked at the rock and realized that the rock was covered in seals, jackpot!
I set up my tripod and put on the long lens and started clicking. I was hoping to capture seals jumping out of the water and this was my best capture. It also shows how crowded Bird Rock was with seals. There is another rock that is call Seal Rock, but I don't think the seals got the memo. They were all on this rock and you couldn't find one on the other one. This was one of the best stops of the day.
