Ripples of light and shadow on a carpet of Bluebells.

There were some good sand ripples to be seen our our last trip to West WIttering. I was going to clone out the woman in the red coat but i thought she would add some extra interest.

Visited Cherryhurst House where Havel Ruck (Dan Havel and Dean Ruck) are working collaboratively to create “Ripples” inspired by a series of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci about the power of nature and his concept of the movement of water. The artists have treated the walls, ceilings and floors of this house as layers to be excavated. Work in progress...

Have a fantastic creativity-filled weekend, my friends!

See Large for the whole effect full of color.

In Explore already! Thank you, my friends! :)

I'm still sitting on a few images from that magical night of storm clouds a couple of Friday's ago. I've shot this reflection before as there is a puddle that seems to form after just about every rain we have at the Liberty Memorial aka World War I museum. This time the clouds gave it a more ominous feel. I was trying to time it just right to catch the ripples from the passing rain clouds that were hitting the puddles.

Found this one while I was looking through last years archive ruthlessly culling old shots. Something about this one saved it from the recycle bin.

Strong ripples in the sand at Balmoral Beach.

A local beach that I have been to many times .. but this was the first time for a sunrise with photographic intent.

A nice low tide exposed some great features along the edge of the harbour, including these strong ripples at the edge of the rock pool.

"Sail away, away

Ripples never come back

They've gone to the other side

Look into the pool

Ripples never come back

Dive to the bottom and go to the top

To see where they have gone

Oh, they've gone to the other side"

At the local lakes. Wasn't quite sure what bird/duck type this was but it was very shy and it took me ages to get even a decent shot.

Egretta novaehollandiae (White faced heron) at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand.

Most of the surface was dull at this hour, but there was a sweet spot, so I waited as it did its rounds, skulking through the murk and waited for it to pass through the pools of color from the (just turning) autumnal foliage.

Was a lucky chance that I spotted this as have not had an opportunity of a similar shot in this location in the 4 years since.

Sailing upstream to a large glacier in Greenland on very smooth water. Our boat causing a gentle ripple on the surface.

For the Kreative People group weekly challenge Treat This 79 where you take a starter image and make of it whatever you want!

This week the starter image of a dragonfly is kindly provided by xandra m (link to the original is in the first comment field)

I took the idea of 'dragon' as sinuous and snake-like, and imagined it flying over water, and the refractions, reflections and shapes it might create when mixed with the ripples of the water. I hope the original image is not completely lost in this

I have used Fences on a fountain by mareziapics Many thanks! And I processed the image in both Photoshop and iPad ;o)

About 10 minutes after sunrise, I saw this snowy egret doing what I call ripple fishing. Jiggle the beak on the surface of the water creating ripples and perhaps mimicking an insect on the surface of the water. This attracts fish and BAM! - down the hatch. Fish for breakfast.

I'm fond of these low-angle shots. To get it, my camera is sitting on the ground between my legs with the screen flipped up so I can see what I'm shooting. I like the soft reflection that results.

Pond reflections, Fife, Scotland

Ripples and reflections in a quiet backwater recently.

Sand dunes offer an infinite variety of compositions, from the large dunes down to the smallest ripples. Sometimes even the ripples have ripples.

The ripples were caused by my dogs deciding to go for a swim as I took the shot.

Gentle river ripples on a misty morning at Thurne in the Norfolk Broads

The impact of the ripples, subtle and obvious, on the reflections is fascinating. Found in the unfrozen portion of the pond in Kurpark in Bad Homburg.
