Let the beauty we love be what we do.

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca: On entering a temple we assume all signs of reverence. How much more reverent then should we be before the heavenly bodies, the stars, the very nature of God!

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

The sheer beauty of the moment brought me to tears.

Lightning at sunrise from the summit of Haleakala. A thirty percent moon illuminating the foreground and clouds as Venus and the sun begin their journey across the sky.

Something I spotted on the way home from work the other night.

Anyway I was going to write a story which went with it - about a murderer I once met in a cafe, but I just don't feel like it any more.

Make what you want from it - I have and it isn't religious, more to do with barbed wire and bread. But that's another thing.

"Reverence, humility, contentment, gratitude and hearing the good Dhamma, this is the best good luck".

(Buddha - Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)

This is a view of the city of Gwalior located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, it was shot from the Small Sas Bahu temple built in red sandstone during the 10th century and dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

According to local tradition, Gwalior owes its name to a sage of former times.

Suraj Sen, a prince of the Kachhwaha clan of the eighth century, is said to have lost his way in the jungle.

On a secluded hill he met an old man, the sage Gwalipa, whose influence almost took him by surprise.

Upon asking the sage for some drinking water he was led to a pond; the waters not only quenched his thirst but cured him of leprosy.

Out of gratefulness, the prince wished to offer the sage something in return, and the sage asked him to build a wall on the hill in order to protect the other sages from wild animals which often disturbed their yagnas (or pujas).

Suraj Sen later built a palace inside the fort, which had been named "Gwalior" after the sage who had given him the gift of a new life; the city which grew around the fort took the same name.

The city became, over the centuries, the cradle of great dynasties and with each, the city gained new dimensions from the warrior-kings, poets, musicians and saints who contributed to making it a capital renowned throughout the country.

Saying a Prayer

So many beloved critters are suffering these days, it tears at the heart. In addition to those on flickr, my dear friend's dog also appears to be failing. My heart goes out to Dee and her beloved Ginger.

Thankfully, amazingly, this wonderful boy is doing quite well. At seventeen years old, he has already burned through most of his feline lives. Sure, Gumbo isn't as active as he used to be, but he still follows me like a puppy dog from room to room. And everyone in the house, canine and feline alike, respect dear Gumbo. He makes sure of that.

BTW, right now Gumbo and Raven are making it difficult to type. Gumbo is lying on my left arm and Raven, his best friend, on my right arm. Both purring away.

Kevin and I stumbled across this waterfall and just went silent for a little while. The sensation from the sights and sounds overwhelmed us as we stared in awe.
