Trees hold a particular role in Germanic mythology, both as individuals (sacred trees) and in groups (sacred groves).
Tacitus stated that Germanic cult practices took place exclusively in groves rather than temples. Scholars consider that reverence for and rites performed at individual trees are derived from the mythological role of the world tree, Yggdrasil and some historical evidence also connects individual deities to both groves and individual trees. After Christianization, trees continue to play a significant role in the folk beliefs of the Germanic peoples.
This is an oak grove (Eichenhain) protected as a natural preserve and located near Schwandorf/Upper Palatinate. Amazingly, one can find a field cross there, however I did not find information about the age or the historical relevance of this place.

One might rightly say surfriding
is prayer of a higher order,
that the sea is a beautiful church
the wave a silent sermon.

Church Of Reverence...
(Legal Visit)
This former monastery was founded in the year 1913. A school, offices, chapel and several others were built on the site. The Francis brothers became the managers of the site where about 600 mentally and handicapped children lived. Around 1939 a law was passed in Germany that every disabled child had to be registered. The Germans turned this location into a euthanasia center. Mainly to kill the handicapped children. It has never been confirmed but around 512 people have died. Mainly children killed by the drug “Luminal”. There are rumors that these children are buried a little further away.... What a scary place.

Another view of this amazing cathedral. “The cathedral of Messina, also known as the Duomo, was built in 1120 by orders of the norman King Ruggero II. It took 77 years before it was finally consecrated from the archbishop Benzio whose ceremony was attended by the Swebian King Enrico VI.
The cathedral was damaged several times from fires and earthquakes but somehow they managed to maintain the ancient norman architectural structure. The oldest part still standing is the lower part of the facade with its linear marble bands. Inside the cathedral is marvellous. Covered with highly decorated marble, mosaics and wooden roof, this cathedral is a must see!” Such a feeling of peace and serenity inside this lovely cathedral!
Simple but beautiful:
"San Margherita di Antiochia" (1318) is the church of Vernazza directlly located right on the harbor.

This from last week as with reverence a wreath was laid at the cenotaph. We remembered the dead; the injured; the atrocities in that brutal war, we prayed only of peace. Does humanity never learn? So much brutality, so many wars around the world now.

In Bilbao, near the Guggenheim Museum: puppets play castanets with their wooden mouths in front of the tourists and bow by making a profound reverence when an obole is paid for them. From time to time coats are removed to go to have a drink, because it is warm under there!

Amidst the intricate bamboo framework of the dragon's majestic form, a devout worshipper offers incense at a Chinese temple, honoring centuries-old traditions. The dragon, a powerful symbol of strength, protection, and prosperity in Chinese culture, watches over the faithful as they seek blessings and guidance. This sacred moment reflects the profound connection between ancient beliefs and contemporary devotion.
Things aren’t normal. We are all in a totally different place than a couple of months ago. Strange times. Too much time. Not enough time. However time is being dealt for you, at this time you will see things differently. We can’t go back, so looking forward is all we can do. We will have a different perspective on life now. We have all said “when this is all over I’m going to do ----”. We now have new heroes, not all so obvious (Thumbs up Capt. Tom.). Importantly nature has moved on. In such a short period nature is healing. Where man can’t go wildlife is coming out from hiding, curiously looking to see where we are. For me this is the small silver lining to our predicament, and although I have always treated nature with reverence I hope we will all see things in a different light in future.
I walk past this tree on most days depending on the route of the dog walk, but at dawn with the morning mist I literally saw it in a different light. I’ll never walk passed that tree again without seeing it. Get the picture?
In Japan, crows (genus Corvus)—including species like the Jungle Crow (Corvus macrorhynchos) and Carrion Crow (Corvus corone)—hold a prominent place in cultural and spiritual narratives, transcending specific subspecies. Their symbolism is deeply rooted in Shinto and folklore traditions, rather than tied to a single variety.
The mythical Yatagarasu, a three-legged crow mentioned in the Nihon Shoki (720 CE), is revered as a divine guide in Shinto belief, said to have led Emperor Jimmu to victory. This archetype, depicted in artifacts like Nikko Toshogu Shrine’s carvings, represents crows broadly as messengers of the gods. Rural regions, such as Nikko’s UNESCO-protected mountains and shrines, associate crows with kami (spirits) and omens, reflecting their dual role as protectors and mysterious intermediaries.
In cities, studies by the Yamashina Institute for Ornithology document their remarkable intelligence, such as tool use and traffic adaptation. Urban crows, often a mix of species, are both criticized for noise and admired for their ingenuity. Meanwhile, in rural Nikko, their presence near ancient cedar forests and temples reinforces their timeless link to sacred landscapes.
Historical records, including Edo-period woodblock prints and shrine artifacts, further cement the crow’s enduring role in Japan’s cultural imagination, blending reverence with the pragmatism of a species thriving in both modernity and tradition.

I do enjoy learning new things each day. Especially as I age gracefully, I love the sentiment of respect your elders. Apparently Magnolia flowers are due some reverence as well.
"Magnolia is an ancient genus. Appearing before bees evolved, the flowers are theorized to have evolved to encourage pollination by beetles. To avoid damage from pollinating beetles, the carpels of Magnolia flowers are extremely tough. Fossilized specimens of M. acuminata have been found dating to 20 million years ago, and fossils of plants identifiably belonging to the Magnoliaceae date to 95 million years ago."
The above can be found at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia
