LA RÉVÉRENCE... TULIP
Each flower is carefully chosen by me, precisely for that, indivduality and what it conveys to me. What I saw here was a tulip bowing deeply, in reverence? Or a mother carrying her children heavily?
Talk to me? I'm listening!
Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thanx for your visit, M, (*_*)

This week, following the loss of a dear friend, I received a poignant gift—a forget-me-not ornament. In tribute, I incorporated it into a still life photograph. I bought three vibrant orange flowers, I arranged them within a blue jug I had, highlighting the complementary colours of blue and orange. Placing these elements on a tabletop, I added depth by including a crumpled orange scarf as a base. During the editing process, I opted for a painterly effect, trying to give the image with a sense of nostalgia and reverence.
I believe there were 4 photographers at Reflection Lake this particular morning and all of us silent as we watched the fog dance across the water. Happy Hump Day!

These ancient cliffs in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park have been here for millions of years, created when the tectonic plates shifted, heaved, colliding with each other as they pushed their way forth. This is a view from near Corney Brook, on the western shore of the park looking towards la Bloc and Cheticamp. Cheticamp Island can be seen in the distance on the horizon.

Wikipedia reports: "The Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are at the northern end of the valley floor and are nearly surrounded by mountains on all sides. Due to their easy access from the road and the overall proximity of Death Valley to Hollywood, these dunes have been used to film sand dune scenes for several movies including films in the Star Wars series. The largest dune is called Star Dune and is relatively stable and stationary because it is at a point where the various winds that shape the dunes converge. The depth of the sand at its crest is 130–140 feet (40–43 m) but this is small compared to other dunes in the area that have sand depths of up to 600–700 feet (180–210 m) deep."

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

Milky Way arch above the Grand Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona (Toroweap overlook, north rim). This is a composite of three images taken in 2019, 2022, and 2025. The "selfie" standing near the edge was taken on my first visit to Toroweap in 2019. The foreground was taken, from the same location, in nautical twilight during an overnight excursion in 2022, but the night sky was clouded over. Returning in 2025, at last the starry sky and the Milky Way arch were on unimpeded display, just two days before a new moon. The sky is a single row panorama taken with Canon R5 and RF 20 mm F/1.4L VCM, tracked 2-minute exposures, ISO 640, f/2. The three images were stitched, blended and processed in Photoshop.
My reticence over compiling a composite image such as this, from three different visits, is tempered by the knowledge that the starlight captured in the sky was emitted up to about 80,000 years ago for the most distant of the stars. The composite provides a nice remembrance of my three trips to this stunning location.

This is the inside of the Tower of Voices. The chimes are the cylinders lined to the top. The 15+ mph wind channels through the openings depicted in the previous posted image and starts them vibrating initiating the voice like response. The effect is mesmerizing.

This photograph captures a vibrant moment in Nice, a city on the French Riviera known for its stunning coastal views and rich cultural heritage. The image prominently features the Quai des Ãtats-Unis, a waterfront promenade named to honor the United States' role in World War I. This historical connection reflects the deep ties between France and the United States, dating back to President Woodrow Wilson's initiatives during the Great War. The structure with neoclassical columns and an inscription at the top adds a touch of grandeur, showcasing Nice's blend of modern life and historical reverence. The vibrant yellow and orange buildings in the background are typical of Mediterranean architecture, where warm hues complement the clear blue skies and sunlight.
Architecturally, Nice boasts a mix of influences that stem from its Italian past and French identity. This photograph illustrates key elements such as the ornate balconies, shuttered windows, and stone archways, which are common in the Vieux Nice (Old Town). The bright facades and symmetrical designs reflect the region's Mediterranean aesthetic. Beyond this picturesque location lies the Promenade des Anglais, a famous boulevard stretching along the Baie des Anges, offering stunning views of the azure waters. Visitors walking through these streets will often encounter landmarks like the colorful Cours Saleya market, historic churches, and grand villas that speak to the city's long history as a cosmopolitan hub.
Nice is not only known for its beauty but also for its culinary traditions. The region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, where Nice is located, is famous for dishes like ratatouille, pissaladiare (a caramelized onion tart with anchovies), and the refreshing salade nicoise. These dishes reflect the area's reliance on fresh, local ingredients like olive oil, tomatoes, and seafood, all of which are central to Mediterranean cuisine. Additionally, the city's proximity to Italy has left its mark on the local gastronomy, blending French sophistication with Italian flavors. A stroll through Nice's streets will reveal charming cafes and boulangeries offering delights such as pan bagnat and flaky pastries, perfect for enjoying while taking in views like the one seen in this photograph.
