Three reusable grocery bags made with fabrics from my stash for the PR contest.

It's better to reuse than to recycle. It keeps the wind off, I stayed comfortable even at 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

I cannot help myself. Here’s a story about records, books, postage, recycling and reuse.

This box started out life containing 16 copies of Patrick O’Farrell’s paperback book with ISBN 0-86840-635-X, sent from the University of New South Wales Press (printed on the box). It must have been sent to Readings bookshop in Carlton, who reused it to send something to Dr Phillip Law (1912-2010) at his home in Canterbury (address label on the bottom of the box, unfortunately Post Paid Australia with no postmark). Dr Law used it to store excess publications about Antarctica (inscribed on the box in his own hand). On the death of Dr Law in 2010, the box ended up with us, the eScholarship Research Centre, who have been working with Dr Law on his papers since the mid 1980s. We have the final material from Dr Law now processed and boxed in special National Library of Australia boxes, ready for transfer to their custody.

Looking up the book in the National Library of Australia’s Trove catalogue and checking the ISBNs of the different editions reveals that this box originally held the third edition of The Irish in Australia, published in 2000.

I needed a box to send 18 copies of a book we have just published (November 2011), Founders, Firsts and Feminists: Women Leaders in Twentieth-century Australia, to a conference being held in Canberra next week. This box did the job nicely!

From the 2010 "Fashion Trashion" show put on the the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM), Studio Art department. All the outfits were made by studio students using recycled, reclaimed, and re-used materials.

There are also shots of some scenes from the UMM Theatre department's upcoming production of "As you like it", which features costumes and sets constructed almost entirely from recycled, reclaimed, and re-used materials. Apparently on $20 was spent on new materials for all the costumes.

I like this Moomins reused fabric a lot: it is sturdy as it´s quilted and padded and the Moomins are so cute

Reduce. REUSE. Recycle.

For the nature

I'm going to reuse the OEM SAT radio antenna with my Kenwood XM receiver. To do that, I need to extend this connector up to the dash. I ordered an extension cable but to use it I will have to remove the lead from that brown/yellow connectoredit

wall sculpture. Wood, bone, mirror, human hair, embroidered & felted wool, pearls, thread.

This was made from a pair of overalls that my husband didn't really like. I liked the look of the pockets, plus I thought they would be useful for the bag, so I kept them. I handsewn the whole bag. I used cross stitch floss as it is sturdier then regular thread. I kept the rugged or raw edges of the bag and of the handle to keep with an authentic jean look. Once it is washed once the edges will fray nicely. I think I am going to give this away as a profile surprise or as an extra for a swapbot partner. It is nice and roomy, with a nice long handle. It would be very handy to carry around a project-in-the-works.

Bubble. bubble. Toil and FLAVOUR!

This building in Florence, MA may have once been part of a mill or another manufacturing-related concern. Even in this small section of Northampton removed from the city's bustling Downtown, the area has seen a high amount of redevelopment and revitalization.

Concrete and chain link jersey barrier base barriers from the Big Dig or Green Line tunnel extension. Proof of origin follows. I'm glad to see materials reused.

And I'm building a small collection of landscapes with stop sign.
