Reusable produce and grocery bags for the Looking Close... On Friday challenge, Bag.

Just pasted him up for The 2nd Reuse Exhibition.

You know he kind of reminds me of someone.

Some of the contents of a large plastic box in our kitchen drawer where we put our recyclable items such as plastic bottles, magazines, flyers, food tins and drink cans. When it's full I take it out to the garage & tip everything in a big wheelie bin. This gets collected by a private company fortnightly, the other week they take our actual rubbish (trash) away, thankfully we don't produce much of that so often that wheelie bin only goes out once a month. Glass has to be taken to a bottle bank. I use to take gardening & bird watching magazines to our GP surgery for others to read but those days are gone.

We compost all our newspapers, cardboard packaging/toilet rolls etc & I reuse suitable plastic food trays to stand plant pots in. All available windowsills currently have trays with small pots containing tomato/chilli/pepper/courgette & sweetcorn seedlings, waiting for the current cold snap to pass so I can plant them out in the polytunnel.

For Macro Mondays theme "Trash" HMM!

An uplight gives texture to these historic reused bricks.

My local grocery store, Harmon's, has a pretty concerted program to eliminate plastic grocery bags and replace them with reusable ones like this. They even give a five cent credit on your bill for each bag you use.

I'm not a big fan of these cheaper ones and use canvas tote bags so often given as premiums on PBS and NPR. They work very well and don't tear like the single use plastic ones do.

made from one of my fav. books! and then painted and bent into shape.

... laundry netbag and makeup remover pads.

The purpose - where I start -

is the idea of USE.

It is not recycling, it's REUSE.

Much better than those paper straws.

HMM… the them for today, 4/23 the day after earth day, is plastic. how smart to cause us think about how we use plastics and more importantly what we do when we’re done with them or how can we cut down the useage of the one-time use things that litter our oceans and our lands.

Building 17, RCA Victor Company, Camden Plant (also known as the Nipper Building) was constructed in 1909 for the Victor Talking Machine Company for the construction of victrola cabinets. It was designed by Ballinger & Perrot. The tower was noted for its four stained glass windows depicting Nipper the dog. These windows were removed by RCA when they did away with the victrola and dog as their trademark in 1969. The company replaced the windows in 1979, but by 1986 they had fallen into disrepair again. They were replaced again in 2003 when the building was converted into condominiums. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places #02001253 and also in the National Register listed Cooper-Grant historic district #87002229.

Here we are - at our first ever Portland Oregon morsbags pod meeting. Morsbags are reusable cloth shopping bags. Read more about them at morsbags.com

These are grocery bags that have a second life doing "you know what". When the dogs hear me pull out a "poobag" they know it's time for a walk! So it's a double effort....I reuse the bags and I clean up after my dogs.

ENGLISH:

The Alcazaba (Arabic: القصبة‎) is a palatial fortification in Málaga, Spain. It was built by the Hammudid dynasty in the early 11th century.

It is the best-preserved alcazaba (from the Arabic al-qasbah, قصبة, meaning "citadel") in Spain. Adjacent to the entrance of the Alcazaba are remnants of a Roman theatre dating to the 1st century BC, which are undergoing restoration. Some of the Roman-era materials were reused in the Moorish construction of the Alcazaba.

Ferdinand and Isabella captured Málaga from the Moors after the Siege of Málaga (1487), one of the longest sieges in the Reconquista, and raised their standard at the "Torre del Homenaje" in the inner citadel.

The Alcazaba of Málaga is the prototype of military architecture in the Taifa period, with its double walls and massive entry fortifications. Its only parallel is the castle of Krak des Chevaliers in Syria.

The Alcazaba of Málaga is built on a hill in the centre of the city, overlooking the port, and comprises two walled enclosures. It was formerly connected to the city ramparts which formed a third defensive wall but only two inner walls remain. The first, built around the topography of the hill, completely encloses the second inner area and is dotted with defensive towers.

The outer citadel entrance is through a gateway called "Puerta de la Bóveda" (Vault Gate), but nowadays it can also be accessed by an elevator. The entrance gate doubles back on itself, a design intended to make progress difficult for attacking forces.

The pathway winds up through gardens, with a number of elaborate fountains, passing the gateways of Puerta de las Columnas (Gate of the Columns), which reuses materials from the Roman ruins, and renamed Torre del Cristo (Tower of Christ) which turns at right angles to again impede the progress of attackers, The "Torre del Cristo" once served as a chapel.

The inner enclosure can only be accessed through the Puerta de los Cuartos de Granada (Gate of the Granada Quarters) which acts as the defence for the western side of the palace. On the eastern side is the Torre del Homenaje (Tower of Tribute) which is in a semi-ruinous state.

Inside the second wall is the Palace and some other dwellings which were built on three consecutive Andalusian patios during the 11th, 13th and 14th centuries. They include the Cuartos de Granada (Quarters of Granada) which served as the home of the kings and governors.

Don't think I've bought any new gift wrapping decorations for a long time (or paper, come to think of it!). Any product that comes with pretty ribbons or tape, especially ready-tied bows, I keep to be re-used.

Some structures used for one theme lend themselves to be recycled/reused/repurposed for other themes/scenes. Why waste a good structure when it can be utilized for another scene?

What actually happens with the initial scene/diorama is that pieces get raided out when needed for newer builds. In this case the basic structure slowly got deconstructed in a couple of stages which lent it to be used for post-apocalyptic scenes...
